  1. mgton,....GET IN THAT BOAT!!! You don't know what you are missing, a whole new world is available to you. Even the small ponds you fish from shore can have hidden treasures just out of casts reach. GET OUT THERE!!!
  2. Is it bad to move a fish backwards in the water when reviving? I always assumed that any water rushing over the gills was good.
  3. LM 7.6 overall-bluefin tuna 923 lbs
  4. what,.....no 11? ***************************** a solid 7.15 still an ounce shy,hehe
  5. I have 2 patents on saltwater items, both processed within about 8-10 months from submitting them. KU - great idea. It's cool to think what a big change a small idea can make. Think of how many guys who actually catch and weigh fish from this forum, from all over the country/world, will be doing it a better way come this weekend. Pretty cool.
  6. argyl,..not at all,..you just have to grind down all the existing rust first. The herculiner seals it completely.
  7. the trailer,.....what a bummer. Check this out. I looked at herculiner online and sent them an email about doing a galvanized trailer and they said, no problem, just prep like any other metal and roll away. Also on the site it says to use the 1 gallon kit for a 6 ft truck bed (comes with rollers, etc) and said to use another quart to do an 8 ft bed Anyway I bought the gallon kit thinking it might not be enough but after 3 coats, I had 1/2 gallon left!!!! The trailer wasn't prepped because I didn't even think I would have enough to do the boat. THe stuff has to be used within 18 hrs of opening can! Anyway, I was not prepaired and threw 1/2 gallon away, what a waste! I plan to buy a gallon this winter and do all 3 of my trailers at once. Black of course

  9. WINNER WINNER WINNER Monark it is! Thanks guys
  10. I've heard that bright sun can hurt their eyes also. Some species have it worse like trout who have a sensitive slime coat. Always be sure the fish is ready to be released by holding it by the lower jaw and moving it back and forth to move water through it's gills. You'll be able to tell when it's ready to take off.
  11. ahh, the memories I have of learning to fly fish,...I caught more grass and more clothes lines than anyone else in the neighborhood!!
  12. it's kinda hard to describe. It"s like an indestructible rubber. It is very "grippy". I have to replace my carpeted bunks with rollers cause it's real tough to slide on the carpet.
  13. well you got lucky and found this site very early on in your addiction. I only WISH there were resourses like the one Glenn has set up here when I first got the disease!! Stay tuned, keep reading, ask ANYTHING , you won't be ridiculed here. All good 'ol folks. Good luck and catch 'em up.
  14. spray on ones like rhino-liner are usually done by a "rhinoliner dealer". Herculiner can be purchased at most auto stores and rolls on. this is the boat I just did http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=boating_ID;action=display;num=1119359773
  15. Can anyone give me feedback on any 3d fishfinders? How well do they map the bottom? Actual fishfinding ability isn't much concern, never trusted the smaller ones much. I learned on a huge furuno where we could watch our baits dropping down at 300 ft it was so sensitive. Showed all thermoclines etc.(saltwater) But for freshwater, I am only interested in bottom contour accuracy. I know, I know, buy a snorkel right? lol
  16. Funny thing is,...the "spot" to be was about 60 feet from the ramp so while y'all were racing and comparing "size" (lol), I hopped in my jon boat and won the whole darn thing!! lol
  17. I picked this up for $450, prob could have got it cheaper. boat and trailer. Even after all the mods, it only stands me about a thousand. Worth every penny. All these type small boats have great resale also. see here http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=boating_ID;action=display;num=1119359773
  18. welcome aboard.......... ;D
  19. yea right,... To clean a fish you must first hold it in the EXACT body of water it was caught in within 5 minutes of capture. Next,...Grip firmly by the tail with 4 fingers, no more, no less Hold in place for 2 minutes and he will be clean.
  20. Gerry, great site! Boat looks sweet! I also did a restore job on a 92 boston whaler jet boat. (1st company and 1st model to use jet in boat hull) They used a yamaha waverunner3 powerplant so the boat had HANDLEBARS!!! It also had a nasty graphic down the side and a 4x1 hole in the hull from an accident. We re-powered it w/a new yamaha 701, replaced rails, rub rails, removed graphic, painted, and re-did the dash w/ teak, 5-spoke wheel and gauges. This is a before and after.(not the best b4 pic) after
  21. Don't know, just a pic I found, thought I would share it you guys.
