  1. He was probably a really nice guy doing the job that he is paid for, which is to serve and protect. Like protect us from people speeding and endangering the rest of us
  2. Until I got to the end of your post, that was my first thought. When going backwards if you go too fast, or the water is rough enough, then water will come in over the back.
  3. he burns more calories in a day then I do in a week! That is crazy

Welcome, there is a lot of good stuff to learn from this site and all of the user's
  5. very nice fish!
  6. I can walk out my camper on the weekends and have the line in the water in about 2 minutes. I have had the greatest intentions of getting on the water by 6am each Sunday for the last 4 weeks, I set the alarm as soon as I get there Saturday evenings. However it usually gets turned off before I go to bed after partaking in the other great campsire tradition - sitting around the camp fire and drinking until 2am.
  7. I practice both methods. My wife does not eat fish, so I don't need to keep a lot for me. Harvesting bass can actually help the bass population in a lake, as long as they are not over harvested. That being said, I would not keep anything of great size. I keep bass that are between 1.5 and 2 pounds. Perfect size for a dinner or a nice fish sandwich. Anything over 2 pounds goes back in to be caught another day. And I do not keep everything under 2 pounds. Just one every once in a while when I am in the mood for fish
  8. I will be waiting until after the press conference this Friday when he announces he is going with Stewart and who his sponsor is. I hope it is not UPS, that will be a boring paint scheme for a golf cart
  9. I just got a new to me 1997 club car. I want to give it a paint job. Has anyone ever painted a golf cart? If so what kind of prep work is needed, and what type of paint was used? Thanks I edited to add a pic of the golf cart so you can see why I need a paint job. Also need a rear seat, roof, etc. She might not look good now, but you can not pass up on a gas golf cart for only $50!
  10. I am by far no expert, but I have a 7' medium/heavy Field and stream (dicks sporting goods) rod with 12 pound test. I put on a 1/4 to 3/8 bullet weight and t-rig the worm. I cast out and let it sit. I still have not become great at maintainign contact with the worm on descent, so I know I have missed some bites there. Then I give it a little pop to move it, and gently real in the slack. Again let it sit there. Many people on here will tell you to let it sit for 10, 20, even 30 seconds. I am not that patient. I might get a good 5 sec sit. Then repeat the process. Watch the line for movement and anytime you "feel" something that does not seem right set the hook. I feel nibbles a lot, and have learned no matter what set the hook, you will catch more then you will lose. Good luck
  11. Not me, but that might be because Edwards came in 9th at the Glen. ;D
  12. I will not vote as I do not have one yet, but I am getting ready to get a boat and a trolling motor, so I too am very interested in everyone's opinion.
  13. I tried again last night. Again I caught one on the first cast! Of course this one was much smaller, less then a pound. About a 1/2 hour later I did get a nice hit, set the hook, and the fish started taking off line (12 pound test with drag set at 3.5 pounds per RW). But then he turned and the line went limp. I know right away what I did wrong. I set the hook with a upward motion hook set like then t-rigging. I did not use the side sweep motion that everyone recommends with c-rig. I have spent the better part of this year learing the feel and technique of t-rigging. I finally got to where I am very comfortable with t-rig, so now I am trying something new. Just need to train my brain of the proper hook sets!
  14. That is what I figured, thanks for the replies. I guess I should be happy with the 3 fish over 5 and 1 fish over 6 that I have caught year!
  15. Sounds like it will be a nice boat when you finish with it. Have fun with the restoration, enjoy it, and catch lot's of fish with it!
  16. I know there have been a couple of topics about fish growth rates, age, etc. But I have not been able to figure out an answer to the following question. I only fish in 2 places. First is a neighborhood "retention" pond that is 14 acres, some call that a lake. I don't know the real age of the lake. I also fish in a 50 acre lake that is about 50 years old. Both of these lakes are in Indiana. So, with known growth rates in this area, age of the lake, etc. Do DD fish actually exist in these lakes? The reason I ask is because let's say the largest fish that should be in there would be around 8 pounds, I would feel great if I got a 7 pounder. However if the largest fish that should be in there was 12 pounds then if I got the same 7 pounder I would.... well I would still feel great, just not as great ;D
  17. Very cool, I like the underwater shots!
  18. interesting article, I will have to try that next time
  19. I wish I could help you out, but I have not figured out how to set the hook yet. I have gone thru 4 Rage Tail Shad so far, and only landed 2 fish. They hit it all the time, but I curse more then I catch!
  20. congrats on the new PB. That is a nice looking fish!
  21. I think there is something to be very excited about. We are watching what could be the greatest single season by any driver in the modern era! Like him or not, but Kyle is a great driver and deserves credit where credit is due! I did not hear anyone say it was boring last year when Jimmie and Jeff were winning every race. I went to Bristol and IRP this year, camped at both, and had a blast. In the Nationwide series, you also have the start "sliced bread"'s career to watch. And the Truck series (the best racing IMO) has the top 3 drivers seperated by less then 100 points. And for all those who think that NASCAR and Toyota are in bed togeather, you need to get a life. NASCAR is a business, their main goal is to put on a good show, get more fans, and MAKE MONEY. They would never jepordize that by cheating with one of the car companies. If that ever came out to be true then Ford, GM, and Dodge would quit that day, and 95% of the fans would as well. So there is no way they are working to let Toyota win all of the races. They found that the new engine that Toyota uses has more horse power in the nationwide series ONLY. So they reduced the spacer to remove about 25 horse power. Hummm, Kyle still won the next race! When GM, Ford, and Dodge move to their new engines this year and next, they will have the same "advantage" that Toyota did and they will be given the same smaller spacer until all of the cars have the same new tech in the engines. OK, sorry for the long post RW, should have given the short answer - yes be excited, sit out the couch, drink beer, watch the cars go around in circles, then go out fishing afterward. That is what I do!
  22. I am sure your arms and back are sore enough now that you will never make that mistake again
  23. 1. 6" worm t-rigged, watermelon or pumpkinseed color. 2. replacement worm for when you lose number 1. 3. replacement worm for when you lose number 2. 4. replacement worm for when you lose number 3. 5. replacement worm for when you lose number 4. Then go buy more worms. As you can see, I like to keep in simple and usually use worms!!
  24. Well, in my ever growing quest to try to learn new ways to catch bass, I decided to try a c-rig tonight. This was also the first time that I have used a lizard while fishing. I am not sure if it was the c-rig or the lizard, but it worked! I caught two 3 pounders, the first of which was on the first cast! Can't beat trying a new lure or new technique and catch a nice bass on the first cast!
