  1. Fishing can be good in Dale Creek too! We always stay at K.C. Log cabin in Dale creek and have caught many a bass within sight out the cabin.
  2. I would spend some time in birch creek. It is one of the prime spawning creeks on the lake. There are numerous old road beds that can be great fishing In February. Those prespawners love hard spots like road beds to set up getting ready to spawn.
  3. I'm still catching fish on main lake points and ledges on a dropshot, jig, Carolina rig, and a crankbait. Water temps are hovering 62-64 and the bass are still grouped up. It should only get better and better as we get more cold fronts. We are catching 30-50 fish a day and usually have a couple of good ones mixed in. We had two 6lbers Friday.
  4. They haven't been south of Housen then!
  5. Yes it is. I get a lot more bites with a leader than without.
  6. I use 16lb braid to a 8-10lb floro leader, roboworm rebarb hook and a 1/4 oz weight.
  7. Amateur Hour, those are balls of shad. The shad are everywhere right now, the key is finding the big dots sitting underneath them. We fishing Monday and boated 32 bass and missed a lot more. The fish were grouped up everywhere but they were stubborn and didn't want to eat. Only thing they would bite was a dropshot in 18-23'. We did catch a couple of good fish, but everything else was small to keeper fish.
  8. I would love to take you out on Toledo Bend. Toledo Bend has so much to offer. You can fish grass, timber, creek channels, ridges, points, humps, and drains and catch fish in December. The lake is fishing really good right now too and should only get better. Monday we boated 32 bass and lost about as many as we caught. The fish are schooled up in big schools and the fishing can be some of the best fishing of the year right now. Give me a call and we can talk about some options. Sam Rayburn is also fishing really well and I guide there too. The great thing about this area is you can fish both lakes in one trip since they are only 30 minutes apart. My name is Josh Sikes and my number is 318-308-5818.
  9. The lake is at 167.69. Boat lanes are safe, just idle everywhere else
  10. The fish are really biting rig now if you can find them. My last couple trips have been 30-60 bass per day with atleast a one good 5+lb fish in the mix. It takes hours to find an active group of fish, but when you do it's on. Dropshot, jig, Carolina rig, and a crankbait have all been catching fish, but the jig has caught all the big ones. 18-23' on points and hard bottoms.
  11. The bite was finicky Friday. We caught 35 or so fish, but had a lot of fish that wouldn't eat right, they would knock the fire out of our jig and was gone. Surprisingly, we couldn't make them eat a dropshot, a jig got the majority of our bites. Had to graph around a lot to find the school. 15-20' close to channels.
  12. I should be out there tomorrow. I'll report back if I find anyone.
  13. Yes it's 168 right now
  14. The 2nd pic looks really good. That point with steep drops looks like it should hold fish. I usually look for a steep part of a ledge or a point jetting off of a ledge or hump that has a creek swing touch the tip of it. 18-23 seems to be the best depth for me.
  15. I'll be on Rayburn his week for the Keith Combs Slam. Gonna need 28lbs+. After that I'll be back on Toledo. As some of you know, I'm doing a little guiding on both lakes. I do electronic sessions and fishing trips. If anyone wants one, feel free to PM me. Fishing should only get better!
  16. I fished yesterday. Caught 33, top five right at 18lbs. Caught loads of 3lb fish and had 2 over 4, but never got a big bite. If I could have fished today I would have fished the bfl, but oh well. Same things, main lake ridges in 18-20'
  17. I'm on the main lake. Will be back on the water this morning and will let you know how it goes.
  18. I fished Toledo Friday. Boated 54 bass, top 5 went 22lbs. Lost 2 fish well over 8lbs also. We stayed in 15-20ft and caught most fish on crankbaits. Look for shad and bass on ledges with creek bends nearby.
  19. Jasper would be the place for you!
  20. Hard to beat a Powell max3d 6'10" cb rod. It's built for jerkbaits and topwater.
  21. I graphed and fished a little yesterday. Found huge schools of whites and blacks mixed together. Could have caught enough fish to sink a boat. No real big size, but never targeted big fish, we were having too much fun catching numbers. We found fish from 15-30'
  22. Lucky craft slender pointer 97MR in ghost minnow?
  23. If I make catching dinks, I continue to move until I find better fish. You have to be willing to give up bites to find the right bites sometimes.
  24. Send me some waypoints and I'll check them out and report back
