  1. This is the best budget combo you will find! I have a lot of H2O mettle reels and they perform as well as my zillions and curados
  2. Yep, don't buy the 733 if you plan on throwing toads on it. The 734 is the most versitale rod in the lineup and handles toads and spinnerbaits perfectly.
  3. The Dobyns 734 has plenty of backbone, the tip is just a little softer than the 735. You won't have any problems with a lack of power.
  4. Dobyns 734 is the best toad rod I've ever used.
  5. October is one of my favorite months to fish Toledo. Not nearly the pressure spring gets and plenty of fish looking to feed up before winter. Expect some good top water action, cranking, and maybe some punching. I know Harold likes to throw a Carolina rig a lot too. As far as food goes, Big Mommas is my favorite place on the lake. It's only about 3 miles from the Pendleton bridge.
  6. Read Joe Joslins report. He updates every week. There are a lot of schoolers right now. Most fish are roaming chasing shad which can be feast or famine.
  7. Anything in the $100-200 range will be a good reel. I prefer the Daiwa Tatula for cranking. For right at $100 you won't find a better value.
  8. Hard to beat a Diawa Tatula IMO. You can fined them for $110 and eh will absolutely sling a crankbait!
  9. Ive used the 765 Glass, 805 graphite, and 806 graphite, not to mention countless other brands of graphite, glass, and composite cranking rods. My preference is the graphite with Dobyns. Many brands graphite cranking rods dont flex enough with the fish leading to lost fish, but I dont have that problem with Doybns. The glass is a great rod too, but is a little less sensitive than the graphite. I have found no advantages of the Dobyns glass over Dobyns graphite. The 805 is my favorite 6XD rod!
  10. I should be avaliable that day. We have our biggest event at the church on the 26th so I'll be tying up some loose ends leading up to that but should be able to get away.
  11. I'm no expert, but I don't mind teaching anyone what I do know. I can show you how to find fish on 2d, DI, and SI and how to use SI to find cover on structure. I'm avaliable most Fridays if your ever up there on a Friday.
  12. Yep. Here are great spawning areas all the way from logansport to the dam. It's all about timing. Personally, I like to fish prespawn fish as long as I can so I stay south in the work for the most part. As for spawners, I normally only target them for a week or two south of Housen where I can see em!
  13. I never peg unless I'm punching
  14. Well, I'm lucky to have good friends. KKing let me use his boat tonight to prefish for our club tournament tomorrow night. I'm fishing with Keith tomorrow so I figured I'd try and see if I could find us some fish. Graphed a lot of fish his afternoon but they didn't want to cooperate well. Ended up catch around 10 from 5pm-1am. Big fish went 7.12lbs.
  15. Throw a jerkbait around docks. You will catch a lot of fish and some good ones mixed in!
  16. Hey guys, just wanted to send out an invite to everyone to our 2nd annual "Cenla's Blessing of the Hunt" here in Deville, LA. Last year we had a great turnout and looking foward to it being even better this year. Free admission, free food, a chance to win 100 free doorprizes, 6 guns, and a Can-Am 4-wheeler. All you have to do is show up and have a good time!! Hope to see some of yall there!
  17. Braid has no stretch so when you set the hook, you are putting all that pressure on your 2 ft mono leader. I like floro for many reasons, but a little stretch helps absorb some shock so heat the leader doesn't break.
  18. I use 20lb sniper with 14-16lb sniper as a leader. Works well around here pulling some big girls from deep brush on Toledo Bend.
  19. I've got three. Two standard Tatulas on my 2 deep cranking rods. I can throw a 6-10xd a mile with the Tatula on a dobyns 805 rod. I love them! My other is a 8:1 ratio type R I flip and punch with. So far they've all held up and I use them a lot!
  20. Well, just got back. Got to the lake yesterday at daylight and was planning on fishing until noon today, but didn't work out. About 10 pm I'm pretty sure my motor blew. I was in Housen when it happened and had to catch a ride to Pirates Cove to get my truck and trailer around. Not a good night! But fishing wise, I caught 40 or so fish total. During daylight I could have caught 1000 kentuckys lol. And there are schoolers everywhere around the mouth of Buck and at the generators when they are running. Some good fish mixed in with them too! Caught 2 over 5 and 1 right at 6 late evening/right after dark. I think I could have caught a big sack last night had my motor not blew!
  21. I may make it out there tonight but will for sure be there Friday night!
  22. Awesome fish Red! Congrats!
  23. I figured it was rough up there today. I saw Humminbird out ere last summer graphing the lake for their lakemaster chip. Hopefully they will have Toledo in HD soon!
  24. Pineville Marine and Louisiana Archery have most everything you could want here in Pineville.
