Lake Fork Trip Help
October is a great month to fish fork. James caldemeyer or Mark pack would be my top 2 choices as far as guides go. Dave parsons is pretty good too, I've fished with him once before.

Football Jig Rod
Well I wasn't really looking to buy this rod, but I found a gloomis mossy back bcr874 for $70 today so I bought it. Gonna give it a go with the fb jigs to see how well it handles them. If I don't like it I figured I could sell it and but the Lamiglas, Megabass, or Dobyns.

Football Jig Rod

Football Jig Rod
Ok I have been throwing a 3/4 oz fb jig ALOT the past couple years and have tried it on a lot of my current rods. The best I've found is my Powell Endurance 714c. I like the way it handles the jig, but feel its a bit to lite and short. I'm looking for the perfect fb jig rod, what do y'all think? So far I've thrown it on a phenix recon 764, Powell endurance 723, 775, and 714, st croix avid 7'mh, and a falcon cara 7'h. Here are a few rods I'm leaning towards. 1. Powell endurance 764 2. Dobyns champion 734 or 735 3. Diawa tatula 7'4" h frog rod

A-Rig Rod
1. You will for sure need different line. I use 65lb braid, but have used 25lb floro and it works too. I would not throw the arig on anything less than 20lb. 2. I use the Irod Genesis II Arig rod. It's awesome! The rods you have listed seem to be underpowered a bit. 3. This is not the ideal time of year to throw the arig. It's more of a October through April kinda bait. It will catch fish this time of year, but isn't the best option, IMO.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I have caught good fish out of schoolers, but more times than not, they are on the small side. I do agree though that schoolers atleast show that bait and fish are present and many times you can fish the structure under the schoolers and catch better fish.

I like to find small cuts and points on the ridges and focus on them. The ridge that runs parallel to the boat lane always has fish on it, you just have to locate them. If you look at your map, you will see many cuts, points, and drains. Fish these high percentage areas rather than fishing just the ridge.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Well it was a tough day today for sure! We had 5 boats show up for our fruit jar. I got to meet TxGator and Henrylewis. Nice meeting both of you. Hopefully next time we do something like this the fish will cooperate a bit better. I started north of the bridge and caught a 7.62lber and a 5lber early then struggled the rest of the day. Caught 3 other dinks to go with them for a little over 18lbs. I did win big bass, but some other boys won 1st with a little over 19lbs. Both of my big fish were in 20-25ft of water. Go deep or go home!

What Bait Do You Spend The Most Money On?
Alabama rigs. At $30 a pop fully rigged, I've probably left $1000 in Toledo bend alone! After that would be rage tail products and lucky craft pointers/cranks.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
My buddy went to Cypress Bend this morning, said the gates didnt open until 6, whereas they were open at 5 last week. So we will be moving the launch to Pendleton Harbor Marine. If you are coming from Toledo Tackle, you will cross the Pendleton Bridge and it is immediately on your right. I will be there at 5. You are welcome to come and pay and trailer to another launch if you want. Sorry for the confusion.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
From what Ive been seeing, the schools of fish are scattered and not real big. Seems there are only 4 or 5 fish per school. Of course I havent been on the south end lately, so Housen/Six Mile may be a little different.
