  1. Suffix 832 is a great super line if you want braid. Braid will be much more sensitive than copoly, mono, and floro plus it has zero stretch which results in better hookups. The down side is the abrasion resistance isnt very good and it is highly visible. For me, floro is the best of both worlds, less stretch than mono, very abrasion resistant, and virtually invisible underwater.
  2. Take a 1 oz double willow spinnerbait, pull of the skirt, and put on a 5.5 LFT Live Magic Shad. It can be killer in those depths and it will catch some hawgs...
  3. Put a light over it to keep it warm...we once found a duck in the lake and kept it and it made it just fine.
  4. I tried Halo and hated it...too much memory and terrible knot strength. Invisx and XPS is quality floros. I want some Tatsu, but cant justify the money.
  5. I'll be out there again Saturday hopefully...
  6. I use the double take and it seems to work, but more importantly is make sure you are using a 7' or longer rod, H/XF, and BRAID!!
  7. Either go floro or stick with CXX. There is no line as abrasion resistant as CXX. As far as floro goes, I would use Abrazx.
  8. The best all-purpose line IMO is P-Line CXX. You can do anything with that stuff. BUT, I rather specific line for specific techniques. Ex: Braid for frogs, jigs, and C-Rigs. Mono for topwater and cranks. Floro for T-rig, swimbaits, spinnerbaits.
  9. G-Mann at Siebert Outdoors does. I know this cuz I bought some. Great quality jigs...give em a try.
  10. Try this... Bring a buddy, let him hook into a bass and when the bigger fish are following, you cast in there and catch em. They will hit just about anything if they are following a hooked fish. Last month my buddy hooked a 12" fish and had a 4lber following. Before I could even cast at the bigger fish, it took the bait from the 12"er and he caught the 4lber. Pretty neat to watch.
  11. I like a slow and steady retreive, but the key for me is to pause for a few seconds and give it a couple quick twitches, pause, the start back the retrieve. Most of the time I get hit when I am twitching it.
  12. Happy Birthday!!
  13. I would buy the Citica for line capacity reasons only. Both are great reels tho.
  14. 4"...will catch anything that swims!

  17. Read through the other thread "So yall want to learn Toledo Bend". It has some great info and a few recent reports.
  18. Seriously?? HaHa...one of the dumbest comments I've ever read. 1. Where are you getting your info from. Did KVD call you and tell you this? 2. Do you honestly think that the Elite anglers aren't going to do everything legally possible to get ahead of the field? Im sure all of em get local info somehow or another. 3. KVD is not arguably the best, but IS the best Bass fisherman ever. What he has done and continues to do is just unreal. Super human. 7 AOY titles along with the 4 Classic Titles. The guides are probably hiring KVD to teach them a little something.
  19. You could be at work...I would love to be catfishing right now.
  20. The only knot I use for cranks...once you get the hang of it, you can tie on a crank in less than 3 seconds. I use this knot for all trebles and the polamar for all single hooks with the exception of spinnerbait buzzbait.
  21. For $150 you have many options...Dobyns Savvy, Powell Max, Shimano Crucial, Falcon Lowrider, Castaway Skeleton...ect. I vote Dobyns!
  22. I can tell you this, it is harder to walk the dog with a chug bug with Hybrid because the line always seems to be underwater. Im pretty sure it slowly sinks.
  23. Well I tried my luck last night. Launched out of Pirates Cove at 7:00 p.m. and ran to Six Mile. Fished back in Sandy Creek and caught 10 shorts on topwater before dark. When it got dark, I ran to Housen Community Flats and fished until 1:00 a.m. and didnt get a bite. On the way out of Housen I saw four lighted piers, so I stopped and fished em. Had 3 short strike a topwater and caught a 5 1/2lber on a spinnerbait. At 2:30 a.m. I tied up to a stump and slept until 5:00 a.m. Then I ran to the area between North Housen bouys and White Oak and caught 13 more by 7:30 a.m. with the biggest pushing 4lbs. I caught fish on everything from a buzzbait, spinnerbait, pop-r, chug bug, shallow crank, medium crank, DD22, and a T-Rig...good pattern . Had to leave at 7:30 cuz my buddy had to go back to work. All in all, 23 fish, top 5 weighing in at 16lbs. It was fast and furious right before dark and right at daylight, but was rough at night.
  24. I use a Powell Max 703CB Glass rod for my deep crankin needs and it performs flawlessly. Give the Powell a try, you will fall in LOVE!!!
