All RT products can be fished on top of the water with great results. My favorite is the Space Monkey. It just "crawls" across the surface and is something that the fish dont see often. The RT products are definatly the most versital plastics Ive found. Also, tie on an Anaconda and reel it through grass just under the surface and hold on!! Make sure you use braid because they will hit it so hard that they hook themselves!

No doubt about it...Powell 703 MEFS is what you need. It has plenty of backbone and can control most any bait you throw on it. It is a great rod for a great price at $140. If you buy by tomorrow at BTD.com you can get 20% off or 15% off at TW!!

I like a more powerful rod than most, so I would go with the 744. I just ordered a 734 Savvy for basically the same things you described.

Good choice of rod. I have 2 Powells and they are some sweet sticks plus their customer service is next to none!!!

If your using line for backing, then braid wouldn't be a good choice. 1. Its more expensive than mono and 2. It slips on the spool. If you just want backing, go and buy some cheap mono.

I would just spool up the floro. Sounds like your not going to be fishing anything super heavy which is where braid comes into play. Floro is sensitive, abrasion resistant, and virtually invisible. It makes a great line for bottom contact baits.

I would go with either a black cavitron buzzbait or a chug bug. I love topwater fishing and catch alot of good fish on these two baits. Also, you dont really have to worry about loosing them. Plus the later in the day, the bigger the fish are going to be on these baits, at least from my experience.

Ive never shot competitively, but I shoot a ton of traps every year to get ready for duck season. I will normally hit anywhere between 92-97 traps out of a 100. It usually makes me feel pretty good about my shootin...then I got hunting. Its something about shooting a live duck that is so much trickier than a straight flying clay!

My wife likes the sun more than the fish, but she goes every now and again. Just this past weekend she went with me and caught her first bass on artificals. It was only 8 in. tho. She got upset after a while because she was tired of watching me reel fish in. I cuaght 13 bass and 6 stripers. Biggest bass was 5.5lbs and all stripers were between 6-8lbs. She wouldn't reel in my fish, she wanted her own, but couldnt hook up with one!

That Kansas City air must be toxic...look at the green tint to the clouds. Round here the clouds are fluffy white or dark grey...but not ever green.

The humps in Six Mile and Housen Bay have been money for me lately. Some days they want a crankbait, some days a Skinny Dipper, and other days a T-Rig or jig. Just got to figure out what they will bite that particular day, but the fish are there for sure.

Last month I broke my Powell max 704C rod when a battery fell on it. I was upset to say the least because this was my favorite rod at the time. I called Powell and told them what happened and they said ship it to them and send them the $40 fee and they would replace it. I thought $40 for a $150 rod was a pretty good deal so I shipped it off. Today I got my replacement rod back. I opened it to find a Powell Endurance 714C. I not only got a new rod but I got an upgraded rod! I was very pleased with the Max series, now I cant wait to use the Endurance! If your thinking about a new rod, Powell has got to be on your list.

I played a ton last year because one of my friends worked at the course. I got pretty good. Averaged around 75, but did shoot a 69 one day!! I played for the first time in about 8 months Friday and needless to say, it was BAD!!! A 100 even, a 56 on the front and a 44 on the back. If only I had a dollar for every tree I hit that day...

I have completed the blazin wings challenge twice in two attempts, but then again I normally order half mango-habenero and half blazin for a normal meal...

my mistake...thats what I meant, an Elite 5x dsi unit. They are awesome units and the dsi on them is really neat!

Dobyns or Powells would get my vote!!

If i was buying new I would definatly recommend down scan. I would buy a Lowrance HDS5 dsi unit for that price!
