  1. What everyone is telling you is true...lighter=better for most situations so I would go out and buy me a pack of 1/8 oz Gambler shaky heads and rig your finesse worm on that. The key is to use as light as line as possible (6lb), a light weight (1/8oz), and fish it slowly. BUT, there are times that the fish will like the 3/8 oz better because it may trigger a reaction bite on a fast fall. Also, 3/8 oz will be easier to fish in high winds and very deep water. So what you bought isnt useless, it just isnt the norm.
  2. Yea Im hoping the wind lays down a bit for me next week. I got a couple of spots around Boones Crossing and Patroon/1215 area I wouldn't mind hitting. Sounds like the numbers are shallow, but the size is deep.
  3. If you dont know what you want to buy, then you probably are "blowing" your money in the first place. Save it until you need it. $100 is too much money to throw out the window.
  4. There is nothing better than sticking fish on a T-Rig. I love when I set the hook and I can only get the rod to a 60 degree angle before the fish jerks me right back down. Feels like setting the hook into a centerblock. No doubt...the HOOKSET!!
  5. Golf Course ponds put out some quality fish! Nice job...and she definatly wanted that swim jig!!
  6. I would definately go with the Citica over the W&M, but dont over look the Pflueger Trion.
  7. Thanks Catt, I will look around in those depths to start off. That lake has been getting pounded by anglers, so I want to find some fish that arent as pressured.
  8. The prop is now clear of line...but unfortunately I think the line broke a seal.
  9. I hate Yum...
  10. The big girls have been hard to get to lately with all the wind. I will be on Toledo next week...Catt, what depth should I focus in on to find a big un or two? I know I can move shallow (4-6ft.) and catch numbers and a 3 or 4 here and there by fishing the shad spawn, but were do you think all the big post spawn females are?
  11. 15lb Yozuri Hybrid or 15lb P-Line CXX Both are super strong and for ripping traps through grass your gonna want something heavier than 10-12lb line and plus the bigger line actually sits higher in the water to work a spook. For both of those presentation the fish will not be looking at the line, so size shouldn't spook fish.
  12. As some of you already know, I had some fishing line wrapped up in my TM shaft and I had to cut it out (along with cutting off my nose...look in Everthing Else forums). Well, my TM will run but every once in a while it will just not work and I have to pick it up and water drains from around the prop and it will work again. Sometimes is will last for hours and sometimes for minutes. The other day it didnt even work the first time I put it in the water, but I put it back on the trailor and the TM worked fine. The only thing I can figure out is a short in the wiring or that the line broke a seal of some sort. I have read how line around the shaft can tear up a unit, but I cant figure out how to fix the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
  13. No...no safety glasses. But I did learn one thing...P-Line is some tuff stuff to cut haha!
  14. So I have been going to Fork for seven years now and have always caught good (4-6lb) fish. This year I show up to find out that the lake is 4 1/2 ft. low and the grass in non-exsistant. I normally can catch a ton of solid fish right around our place in Dale Creek, but this year the places I normally fish were high and dry so I had to adjust. Here's how the trip went. Wednesday-Arrived at the lake a 6 p.m. and threw a Bandit 100 series in a sun perch pattern and caught 5 quick ones, the they turned off. Nothing real big, but some good 4's. All caught off stumps in 5 fow in the back of Dale Creek. Thursday-Ran to White Oak East Branch and fished it thoroughly with a wtml/red senko rigged wacky style only to pick up one fish. I kept seeing good fish bust shad around the bigger trees and I could see the shad balled up just under the surface by them, but they wouldnt touch my wacky rig, so I threw a chug bug, crankbait, and Yum Money Minnow with no takers. Finally, I put on a white senko on the wacky rig and quickly started catching fish. I ended up catch 19 in there with a 6.5lb kicker. Average fish was 4lbs. Started slow, but ended up being a pretty good day. Friday-Started out throwing a squarebill on a main lake road bed and picked up 6, biggest going around 6lbs, but had to leave due to 40 mph winds. I then fished in Glade Creek and found a ton of beds and started dragging Grande Bass Rattlesnakes across them with a 3/16oz weight T-Rigged and started picking up a few. Fished in there till 6 p.m. and caught 26. They started off small (3lbs) but as the day went on, the size went up. At 5 I stuck a 7lber and threw her in the boat. She was sitting in 4 fow on the outside of a stump field. I then fished an old fence row running out to deeper water and caught a good fish and then stuck a 8.5lber in 11 fow and put her in the boat. I measured her at 24 1/4 inches...my first over at Fork! I took a picture on my phone and released her. I ended the day fishing an old roadbed in Glade a picked up 3 quick 5-6lbers then called it a day (my dad was tired of watching me catch fish lol). I then fished that eveining in Dale Creek and caught 4 more 2-3lb fish on the Rattlesnake. Saturday-Went back to the main lake road bed and made about 20 cast and caught a 6lb 4oz fish and my buddy hung one that we never got to see, but pretty sure she was a hoss. I then ran back into Glade and cuaght 8 fish on the Rattlesnake again, the biggest being around 5lbs. My dad caught 1 small fish on the road bed after I left it and we decided to start the 5 hour trip home at noon. All in all I had a blast. I caught 62 fish including one over and most were on flippin, which is my favorite way to catch em. I love the hookset. My dad caught 5 fish, one buddy caught 3, and another buddy caught 1 (his first cast of the trip). They were all aggrevated and ready to get home, but I could have stayed another week. My two buddies dont fish, so I didnt expect them to tear em up, but my dad's normally not a bad fisherman, but the wind kicked his butt I think. The bites were hard to detect in 30-40 mph winds, but the fish held on for a long time, so a little patience and you could feel the bite. I do want to say that my 20lb Invisx held up extremely well and I never broke off. I even had a couple wrap me, but I took my time and pulled em out of some thick stuff and never had to worry about my line. Just retie every couple of fish. Also, the Grande Bass Rattlesnakes are AWESOME!! When T-Rigged, the tail end floats up and it is deadly when dragged across a bed. Plus, there are no appendages for the fish to grab and move the bait with, so when they bite it, they have the hook in their mouth which leads to better hookups. Color didnt seem to matter mcuh as I caught em on Wtml/chart. laminate, green pumpkin, and Junebug/wtml red laminate.
  15. I still think you are backwards...5 dinks aint gonna win anything, a couple big girls will. And yes, swimbaits are used in tournaments all the time. Just watch the Elite Series, they throw them everywhere.
  16. My boat has seen the water once this year and I had to get towed back that day. It has been in and out of the shop since mid-January...I feel ya bro!!
  17. At first...no Buts its starting to wear on my.
  18. I like dogs, but in the end...they are just dogs. Here is how I rank the worth of creatures: 1. Normal Human beings (me and you) 2. Retarded Human beings (people who deserve to be punished for being stupid) 3. Cruel Human beings (Saddam Hussan) 4. All animals 5. All plants 6. Roaches 7. Cats
  19. Sounds like your happy with your 80lb Fortrex...stick with it, its plenty for that boat. I have only been in a few situations were I "needed" a 101lb and I probably should have been at home in all of em. Toledo Bend can get pretty nasty with a 35 mph wind lol.
  20. Haha...I thought it was kinda funny too, but the wife sure didnt. And sorry guys, no pics were taken. Everything happened so fast, pics were the last thing on my mind.
  21. I have been taught many things from my parents and grandparents over my lifetime. For instance, dont pee into the wind. It makes sense and I am smart enough not figure out that its a bad idea. But, yesterday I ignored advice that I once recieved and payed the price. I was cutting fishing line out of my trolling motor. The prop wouldnt come off, so I had to pull it out just enough to wedge my knife in there to cut the line. Well, like an idiot (I knew better), I was cutting towards my body. The line cut, then the knife kept coming and cut me across my nose. I dropped the knife and figured it had to do something, but I didn't really feel much. I then walked inside, hollared for my wife to come look and see if it was cut bad and then the blood started coming. My wife showed up just in time to see the blood squirting out and she immediately said we are going to the hospital. I refused to go until I saw it in a mirror. I had just about cut it completely off, I mean, it was just barely hanging on. So, to make a long story short (or shorter), I went to the ER and they sewed my nose back on. 11 stiches and a little glue later, I feel pretty good, but my face still looks terrible. I have learned my lesson though, listen to the old advise you recieved from the old timers...they really do know best, and learn from me, dont cut towards your body. P.S.: My wife pretty much passed out and was dry heeving when she saw it. Needless to say, shes not in school to be a nurse.
  22. I could be wrong, but I think United Bay is the bay on the southern bank at the mouth of Lannan. I dont have my map in front of me right now, but I think that I remember seeing it there.
  23. Tenn. Shad has always been my top producer. Second would probably be White/Black back.
  24. I use either a Rage Craw or a LFT Live Magic Shad. They both are deadly and hove their time when they shine.
