  1. I use something I already had laying around. I used to golf and still had a 12' extendable golf ball retriever similar to the one in the picture below. The one I have just has 1 spiral thick loop on the end and I put that on the line and start extending it down into the water. It only works for 12' or less but that's where I get most of my snags. http://www.outabounds.com/images/MBRC12.gif
  2. Greatest rapper today? Joaquin Phoenix is DA BOMB! http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/02/04/entertainment/main4775636.shtml?source=RSSattr=Entertainment_4775636 Yet another case of a person in Hollywood losing their mind. Hurt feelings or not, Hip Hop/Rap is just static to me.
  3. Actually I think the use of steroids will actually help him. Anyone spending 'quality time' with Madonna will almost certainly need the strongest anti-bodies available.
  4. Heat was a fantastic movie that I'll watch anytime it's on. Haven't seen the latest with those two actors, but will definitely rent it. I did see Taken. Great movie IMO. Especially if you have a daughter(s). You'd do 10x the stuff he did in that movie.
  5. They didn't have my state listed: Denial Got me too. Nice one.
  6. You not only acted correctly, you taught your daughter a valuable lesson: AWARENESS. Too often ladies walk around oblivious to their surroundings and don't see the threat until it's too late. The four words I use to describe my 'paranoia' in protecting my family: Not On My Watch! I have two teenage daughters (16/14) and until they were about 12 years old, I walked them to the restroom in public places and stayed outside. One time in all those years someone tried walking in after them. A guy working in a movie theatre going in a couple seconds after them to clean/empty trash. I stopped him of course and told him it could wait for closing or get a female to do it. Probably innocent mistake but that one time in 13 years, I was there. Not On My Watch.....
  7. Here in Georgia the winter has been colder than any in recent memory but each day I look at my boat and start getting ansy. Since I really only got back at fishing last summer, I can't wait to go during the spawn and maybe nail a DD.
  8. Father of two daughters here (now 16/14) and from day 1 I told the wife/them they aren't dating until they're 16. No, no, no, no, no.....won't hear of it. They need to be focused on school and not what other kids are doing. They've both had a couple guys skulking about and the younger one was asked out when she was just turned 13. She was also asked to be his girlfriend. My reply? 'For what? You're not going out with him for 3 years. No point in saying you're his girlfriend because nothing's going to happen.' To date, no breaches in security. Keep em busy in church/athletics and DRIVE them to school and back. Since day 1.
  9. Put down the ax. Glenn; you've ground it down to the wood. : I AM a Steelers fan and I saw a great game played by two great teams. The only people I see questioning the legitimacy of their victory are people who have already shown (prior to the game) that no matter how the Steelers won, they wouldn't accept it. With closed minded people, I stop listening to their opinion as it's never objective and thus bears no fruit.
  10. Let's just agree to disagree. You THINK Warner's arm was going forward when he got stripped and I KNOW it wasn't.
  11. Volleyball players don't hold the ball (they hit it) yet accomplish kind of the same thing right?! The ball was loose before his arm started forward (2nd time) and he pretty much just batted it forward. WHICH IS A FUMBLE.
  12. 1. The refs were ticky tacky on both sides of the field: Cards got called on some things same as Steelers. Other calls were not made; again on both teams. That first 'tuck rule' fumble was a fumble same as the one to close out the game. Just because the QB can still 'hit the ball forward' does not mean it's a incomplete pass. Not perfect officiating but pretty decent. 2. The personal foul call on Harrison was dirty as hell. When they showed that I felt he should be ejected immediately but a friend of mine said he'd like to see the whole scene of what the guy did to instigate that response. We only saw Harrision's reaction which seemed brutal but we don't know what #47 did prior to it. Spitting, trying to kneecap him, etc... we don't know. People who didn't want the Steelers to win will cry and moan about the refs no matter what happened. You'll see what you want to see and disregard the rest, missing a great game and fantastic finish. "Here we go Steelers, here we go!"
  13. Sounds like you didn't have any to begin with. : They played a great game and made some dumb mistakes on some personal fouls the same as the Cards did. They also did as I feared they would do; feel they had the game in hand (20-7) and ease up, keeping the door open. It ended up being a great Superbowl with a lot of momentum swings. For those that have watched the Steelers play all year, that final, game winning drive was one of many this season orchestrated by Big Ben. He may not post gaudy numbers but he's grown into a pretty clutch guy that can lead that team. "Here we go Steelers, here we go!!!!"
  14. Defendant wanted to be rid of his public defender and the judge disagreed. Sooooooo, the perp gets a baggie full of crap and smears it on the lawyer's hair/head. Wish I could have seen that! http://www.10news.com/news/18569727/detail.html
  15. WILCO; just that part of your post tells us all we need to know about this man. Police chief out helping to clear the roads. Sounds like a great leader and I'm sure he'll be missed.
  16. I've dealt with it before and the doctor told me to put that arm in a sling and rest it. Only thing that worked for me. That and telling Rosey Palm I was too busy to play.
  17. As RW said, write down everyone's name you speak with. Call again but ask to speak with a manager/supervisor. Quit talking with the flunkies in the trenches. You need resolution not excuses; let them know you are NOT letting them off the phone until you hear it is being shipped that day. Kick some tail and take some names.
  18. I posted this about 6 months ago but there's still a couple days left to use these $10.00 off $25.00 purchase 'Coach's certificates'. http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=754368 Be sure to print it off a color printer and tell them you received it via email.
  19. When I first saw this I thought 'only in California'. However, it's several states that would have NO problem doing this. Thank God I don't live in one of them. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's safe to say they think you don't pay enough or don't deserve that refund.
  20. I like the one that's for World Peace..................which is to say ALL OF THEM!
  21. A guy I work with has refinanced several times in the past 7 years and has taken 'equity' out of the house while staying with adjustable rate mortgages. After the first couple times, he would say 'my house is worth ____ much!'. I asked him 'so you're relying on the people lending you money to tell you what your house is worth?' Well, he missed my point and got another ARM. He's now got about 2 months to refinance into a fixed (for his sake) but he's now $30,000.00 in the hole with neither a pot nor a window. Here's the kicker: he blames Delta Airline people that lost their jobs for selling their homes too cheap, driving the prices down in his area.
  22. I found a couple guys fishing in my subdivisions' lake and they were keeping EVERYTHING they caught. If they were doing 'catch and release', I would have ignored it but they weren't. I knew they were in there illegally but decided against confronting them about it. The spot where there were sneaking in is very small as well as the area they can fish. So I was trimming up a deadfall a couple days later to make some casting lanes from my boat and drug all the limbs over to the spot they can fish. Their little illegal honey hole is now SNAG CENTRAL.
  23. I've learned a lot of things watching Les: How to start a fire with a battery (buddy of mine knew this already but not on purpose. ;D) When surviving in cold weather, avoid sweating at all costs. Quick road to hypothermia. Different things to eat/ways to catch it/prepare it. Utilize all of your surroundings/equipment. Numerous other things. I've learned one thing from Bear: Guy's a complete idiot who will most likely cause someone to die. Bear (as others have pointed out) shows the viewers how to take a lot of unnecessary risks (jumping into freezing water to save yourself from walking, eating uncooked stuff, etc) and really only has a show cuz the ladies find him good lookin. Personally, I find Bear's show insulting if you have even half a brain. Staged scenes, cheating (life preserver hidden under sweatshirt in river) and his moronic overdramistization of some things is outright asinine. . Survivorman started in June 2005 and Man vs Wild started in Nov 2006. Bear is just a knock off.
  24. Mulder................is that you?!
  25. This mess is worse than any one could have imagined. We had some of the banks that we're now bailing out actually investing in oil and sitting on it to drive the price up. That combined with offering risky loans they were offering should get someone FIRED. Why bailout a company AND keep the some morons in charge?!!
