Nice fish man; man that's a big ol' perch. Beautiful coloring on it. **Edit** WTH is up with the guy in the speedo? Man I just threw up in my mouth!

First Outing With Swimbaits.....WOW!
Nice fish. Those lures look awesome and I'm sure alot of work is put into making them but I just can't bring myself to spend the $$ on em.

Like to pose a question to you all.......
lol Road Warrior; as usual you crack me up man. ;D Seriously though......for those that say they'd photograph it and release it, you'd be giving up ALOT of security for you and your family. Now I know it's the principle of the issue but for me I'd cash in for the sole reason of providing a little bit better for my family. Just something else to think about.

One man fishing boat
I just bought a decent 9' Pond Prowler off of craigslist for $400.00 with trolling motor, battery, oar but only one seat. It runs great, pretty stable but I haven't tried standing up fishing and probably won't. I'm only 204 lbs but I cast far enough from a sitting position so no need to risk tipping and losing my gear. Like Nickman said, they can be bulky to load back into a truck bed. I'm trying to engineer some way to be able to do this easier. Good luck and check your city's craigslist but give the boat a good once over. The plug the seller gave me didn't fit so I'm having to doctor it up some. >

Worst tackle investment you have made...
Any combo plastics package will be filled with at least 80% garbage that will never be tried. I've bought 2 of these in my life (1 for me while a teenager 1 for my kids for panfish). I've been pretty lucky to ride someone's coattails on what to buy. I'm pretty cheap and do not come off money easy for expensive lures/equipment. I broke down and FINALLY bought a couple Cavitron buzzbaits today ONLY because they've been so highly recommended here.

Nice one; you're right about taking a kid fishing.

Like to pose a question to you all.......
Some really good answers so far. Guess it's not 100% what most people would do unless they ACTUALLY are faced with it. I suspect when faced with the possibilities of alot of money, free tackle, boats, etc some people might change their minds. I agree with LBH whoheartedly; this hypothetical fish is old and no one should feel guilty about keeping it.

My fishing class
Some sage advice here; don't bother with it man. Too many buttheads looking for a quick buck and NOT accepting personal responsibility out there. Instead earn $$ other ways. Just cut grass, clear brush, throw pinestraw, etc.....too many ways to count on how to make extra cash. Walk around your neighborhood and spot some homeowners with some landscaping issues and make them an offer politely. Get your foot in the door and word of mouth will spread that you're a solid, dependable worker.

Like to pose a question to you all.......
Hope this is the right place (forum). For everyone that's a staunch catch n release kind of person; if you caught the world record LMB would you: A. Keep it and mount it (not a replica); you'll get 15 mins of fame and probably meet the Prez. B. Go for some $$ from Manufacturer's stuff you were using when you caught it. Maybe contact BassPro Shops to see if they want it for their tank. C. Mount a replica and donate the actual fish to DNR of your state if they want it. D. Document as best you can and release her. Myself, honestly would go with A and half of B. I doubt I would try to put that beauty back in the lake only to have someone catch her after her next shad buffet and beat me out by 1/4 pound. Would definitely make a call or two about stuff I was using when I caught her. P.S. come up with your own answers if you want. Those were just what I came up with for now.

Wow what a day
Boy ain't that the truth. Seems like just a couple years ago that my oldest daughter was catching her first fish but it's been over ten years ago. Cherish them while their young and think you hung the moon; won't be long before you're mentally challenged and don't know anything. Teenagers; ugh!

Wow what a day
My kids Tazmanian Devil Rod is STILL at the bottom of a pond for the same reason.

How much does it weigh Part II
That's the precise reason to get a scale and NOT rely on your or other's opinions. I just need to take a camera with a timer on it rather than rely on a cell phone camera with no one to help me. Actually it went from maybe a pound to 27 pounds if you want to get technical. ;D

How much does it weigh Part II
Okay guys, I'll end the suspense so you can start breathing again. It measured out at 24.5 inches and weighed just a hair over 8 lbs. For those that guessed around 8 lbs I have a nice prize for you. You download the picture of it, send it to me with a self addressed stamped evelope and I'll autograph it for you. 8-) I'm still laughing at myself for catching it from shore after putting in so much time getting my little jon boat ready for the water. But hey, if the plug didn't leak, I wouldn't have been casting from shore while waiting for the boat to drain. The bank was so steep I had to go in to land it. Also, it was pretty stressed (jumped like 3-4 times & fought really hard) so I had to wade on the boat ramp with her til she recovered enough to swim away. Thanks guys.

How much does it weigh Part II
Funny thing is I just got a 9' Pond Prowler (used) and the plug started leaking after a fishless morning. I had some hits but couldn't hook a thing. Decided to wrap it up and while the water was draining out of the boat, I decided to throw a worm near the boatramp. I was thinking 'after all that time spent messing with that boat, watch me catch one from shore'.....2nd cast and this babe was on the line. Even had to jump in the water a little because the bank was so steep.

Another Nice One
Beaut there guy. Congrats.

SUCCESS!!!!! finally
Bah, don't let your girl handle them fish without a glove. You want man hands massaging your neck after a long day of fishing?!! Tell her to keep using them gloves. Great fish by the way. 8-)

It was a very good day.
Nice fish; way to get out of that slump man.

How much does it weigh Part II
No I had it right but goofed and named the fish at photobucket by it's weight which would have given it away. Sorry. Look again. :

How much does it weigh Part II
You guys may remember my first thread where I posed a question about how much this fish weighed = http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1213960688/0 Well I caught another nice one and this time I did weigh it and measure it. I'd like to see what people's opinions are of the fish below. You'll have to excuse the angle as I didn't have my kids with me this time to take the pictures.

Best Fishfinder uner $120?
Thanks GeneinTX. Great info there for someone just starting out with fish finders and great point about spending a little more knowing it's an investment that (if taken care of) will last a long time.
