  1. Been years since I did and that was up in Pennsylvania but at the time we used to clean up with the 8" Black Grape w/silver glitter. I'm ordering a couple packs and will check back with how they performed. http://www.productolure.com/products.php?cat=16
  2. Great fish! Your arm must be sore after hauling those in and holding them up for the camera.
  3. Pricey but funny. Thanks. ;D
  4. It would be interesting if people who aren't believers in this kept a log of the fish they caught (date/time) then compared it to the almanac. Probably would surprise them. It something I'm trying to pay more attention too now however I need to do some research on my subdivision lake. :
  5. Check out Kozak's froggin video; he fishes that frog in some pretty thick stuff and hauls out some nice fish. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1214143598
  6. I caught a nice 4 lb LMB up in PA in the rain using a clear Zara Spook. I would give topwater a try; couldn't hurt.
  7. Nah, I didn't think you were trying to catch them; just saying if there's birds in the area at all, I'm gonna wait. The other night I was fishing during late dusk at the neighborhood pond and almost had a bat take my buzzbait out of the air. He diverted at the last second thankfully. probably would have just cut the line on that.
  8. Hey bud, YOU did not cause him to lose his job; he did. YOU were the victim (as well as anyone else in the tourney) by his botched call. Don't feel bad for standing up for what's right; it's his fault. Good job on your part IMO. Anyway, he may not lose his job but will definitely learn his lesson and go reread the rules.
  9. Yep, birds are pretty fowl creatures....... : (cue the rimshot)
  10. My most embarrassing moment was bass (LMB/SMB) fishing in the Monongahelia (sp?) River on the South Side of Pittsburgh, PA with my brothers. I was fishing a spinner and hooked something BIG. I yelled for my brothers to help if they could. They dropped their rods and came flying over to me. Side to side the 'fish' fought, but steadily came in. The river was a little choppy that day so it added to the fight. Low and behold I'd hooked the handle of a bucket someone had tossed in the river. Man did my brothers give me a ribbing after that. Still a great fight though.
  11. You definitely came to the right place; this place has great people who have a vast wealth of knowledge.
  12. I never cast near birds; don't want to take the chance of hurting them or me once I get them reeled in. Fish are pretty much under control once you land them but I can't imagine what a bird would do with a hook in it and you trying to dislodge it.
  13. Ha! I love that roadwarrior! Too funny. Gotta add that to my mind's rolidex.
  14. As with golf, the competitor has the obligation to act within the rules of the match and he didn't. He may have justified it to himself that day by having the judge agree with him but I guarantee you he'll feel like crap for a loooong time each time he discusses winning that tourney. Also you should notify someone of the judge's botched call. He doesn't need to be there with judgement like that. >
  15. Pretty funny story there bud. I've had moments like that (reel falling off) and usually end up catching a real nice one that day. Guess God has a way of evening things out huh?
  16. Nice fish bud; about what day and what time of day did you catch her? Just curious....
  17. When I make a great cast (shorefisherman here) say under some overhanging trees, down a treeline right next to a downed tree, I'll imitate a line from the Disney movie 'The Goofy Movie'........'The perfect cast!' in Goofy's voice. Pretty dang weird if you ask me.
  18. This was INDEED fun; with the wide variety of guesses and the actual numbers, I feel alot better about my fish now. Again; great fish.
  19. Alright CJ, what's the real numbers?!
  20. I agree and you know if you're not interested in keeping it, those vintage lures fetch a NICE price on Ebay. Guess people remember the lures they caught big ones on and overbid the heck out of some of those.
  21. Thanks Korea; missed that. Okay CJ; based on your size and experts' guesses of my fish....here we go: 1. 4lb 8oz 2. 4lb 5oz 3. 3lb 15oz 4. 4lb 9oz
  22. Without knowing what you're fishing with, you could try bigger lures. If the big ones were easy to catch, I guess they wouldn't get big though...
  23. CJ, how big are you and how much do you weigh? Can't guess without knowing that! Was I close with 6'2" 190-200lbs? No one's close to three of them yet? I guess I was right about the inconsistent guessing. 8-)
  24. Great fish Matt. Funny you almost caught them both on the same cast. My brother caught a couple small bass at the same time on a big Rapala once.
  25. Nice............she looks terrified though. 8-)
