  1. Sweet; by the time the kid turns pro he'll have the world record.
  2. Guess I'm taking a summer school class on that right now, right?! Supposed to go again this evening with a buddy on a new pond. You can bet I'll double check everything before that boat gets wet.
  3. Had a nice night of fishing with one of my daughters going, trying to get her used to an open faced reel setup and having her use a small Rapala to catch some small bass chasing shad in our subdivision lake (same lake I caught the 8 lber in my avatar). The water was stained and nothing biting on plastic worms so I put on a chartruese Roostertail and make a couple cast with it. While I'm watching her work that Rapala, I hook a 6+ pounder and it proceeds to start tearing out line. Now I've got 12 lb test on a med-heavy open face combo and I realize a little late that my drag is set too low. This is my wife's rod/reel and I am unfamilar with it. I'm trying to fight this fish, turn it's head away from this log AND trying to adjust the drag on the fly. It managed to get enough line out to wrap itself around this log in a couple seconds. I struggled and struggle to try and free it and debated whether to actually go in water off the boat to follow the line down to untangle it. I even tried moving the rod around but by the time I did work it free (actually pulled up the piece of timber it was stuck on 8-)) the fish had already freed itself. At least my daughter got to see her dad hook this thing and watch it for a little bit. Smart fish, huh?! Moral of the story; familiarize yourself with ALL of your equipment before you go and check the drag before each trip.
  4. Man, you're a great uncle for showing him how to fish and he's learning a great deal more than just how to fish. You're putting him on the right path by getting him outdoors, involved in quality activities and making him use his head for things other than video games. That was an awesome video btw. Nice fish for a nice kid and his great uncle.
  5. Nice one man. Probably around 2.5-3 lbs. The angle is a little off and you can't tell how fat she is.
  6. Good deal Nitro; hope you get those loaded soon.
  7. Muddy, You're not going to catch the world record!!! ;D ;D
  8. Amazing. You know that lady was probably NOT going to survive that encounter if those thugs DID make it inside. Cool that she bought that rifle too; was that an AR-15 or something?
  9. ^ Uncle Leo doesn't know the second thing to go is the mind. First thing to go is..........^
  10. lol. First thought that came to mind was that line from Jurassic Part with the Velociraptors......"Shoot her.........Shoot her" I am not gonna lie; I see something like that taking out the trash, I'm gonna shriek like a little girl!
  11. Sorry to hear that but sounds like you had a great day otherwise. Congrats and good luck with the rod.
  12. Sunny out I usually go with a red speedo. Cloudy go with black speedo. Seriously though, all the reading I done lately has me confused a little too for the same reason.
  13. The mask is a 'spit guard' to prohibit him from spitting saliva, blood, snot etc on officers and/or officials. Keep going back to he disarmed a cop and killed him with his own gun. Sounds like this guy knows how to fight and therefore probably put up quite a struggle with police that were trying to arrest him. Maybe the cops got in one too many punches but this dirtbag's rights were none existant the moment he pulled the trigger. He was a suspect in another murder to that point and was presumed innocent to that point. His rights became a moot point once he killed that policeman.
  14. ^ Likes drinking pina coladas and getting caught in the rain ^
  15. No problem; just make checks payable to: Eddie Munster 1313 Mockingbird Lane Atlanta GA 30354 8-)
  16. The article says he resisted arrest; well of course some (if not all) his injuries came about during the struggle to apprehend this MURDERER. They have him dead to rights on the murder of the officer let alone the old lady he stabbed. They should have saved the taxpayers a ton of cash and ended this guy's life. Also; what the heck was that officer doing in an interview room with his gun on and that guy NOT handcuffed?!!! Not following procedure I'll wager.
  17. When I write something on the internet or pretty much anywhere the 'public' will see it, I take some time on spelling, grammar, etc. Two sayings come to mind in regard to this: 1. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. 2. Better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. Just my .02
  18. ROFL; nice bassboy. Probably never heard it but I bet that bike plays the theme from Sanford and Son when rolling towards the lake.
  19. ^^ should have seen my first attempt at taking a pic of that fish by myself ^^ good view of my left nostril.
  20. Check out these links LBH; hope it helps. http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_can_i_erase_all_im_logs_to_avoid_identity_theft.html or http://articles.winferno.com/internet-privacy/delete-aol-history/
  21. ^^ dunno; I'm not in Kansas anymore Toto ^^
  22. Welcome aboard. At the top of the page read the fishing articles; they are very informative.
  23. Bah, not a bad rod/reel combo for the average person. My 16 yr old daughter just bought that combo from Wally World with her own $$. (I chipped in $10 of it). If you're catching fish with it, don't worry about it. Rather spend several hundred dollars on lures, glasses, etc and keep fishing with my $70.00 combo than to drop all that on a rod or reel. Think I spent $35.00 on the rod/reel combo at Wally World that landed that 8 pounder in my avatar.
  24. Tried out a couple things today that I've read here and while I know I AM learning, I am also being educated at just how little I know about bass fishing. Been fishing on/off for about 28 years but never really took time to educate myself as I am now. Polarized glasses: Never owned a pair but knew they might be helpful. Picked up a pair of cheapies at Wally World last night while I wait to see if I'm going to get a pair of Maui Jims. Wow; remarkable difference these make. They are UV protected too but I am going to spend some $$ on a good pair of them. Cavitron Buzzbaits: Amazing lures. Comes right to the surface after a turn or two and allow a very slow retrieve if you want. Wonderfully balanced lure too. Some things the extra money is worth it and these buzzbaits are worth it. My little Pond Prowler is still undergoing an overhaul so I decide to fish from shore at my subdivision's lake this am. Caught myself several times slipping back into the habit of early morning fishing just a couple feet parallel to shore ONLY. This is despite knowing where some dropoffs/fish are in that area thanks to my depth finder. (I mapped out some areas BEFORE I started the overhaul) Stopped myself and worked the structure I remembered, ended up hooking into a beautiful fish 4-5 lbs but she got off. Analazing conditions at the lake and trying to come up with something to throw that I think the conditions dictate make me also realize I need more lures. Anyway, thanks for the help so far and I'll be sure to search the topics before posting any newb questions.
