  1. Speed limits have been the same since the days of the Model T. Speeding of 10 mph over the limit is expected in some areas. I can't imagine it being considered a felony except maybe if you broke 100mph. I know on my commute in Mass the only time I see a state cop when I'm doing 10-15mph over the speed limit is when they're on my tail wanting me to move over so they can go 80 - 90 MPH.
  2. NHL

CRFisher replied to Josh.'s topic in Everything Else
Bettman pretty much ruined the NHL. I haven't really watched since 1994. Bad rules, changed rules, overzealous expansion and missed opportunities. Will probably give the Bruins a chance when they change ownership. Won't until then, greediest owner in sports.
  3. "Big Bottom, Big Bottom, talk about bumcakes well my girls got em" How dare you question the lyrical genius of the Tap!
  4. I think they're all horrible, leaving obvious questions that should be asked dangling unasked and reporting opinion as if it was fact. There's not much of a difference between all of them although I think Fox is closer to reality. Sometimes if you watch a mixture of Fox and CNN you can figure out the truth in the middle.
  5. Pixies, Janes Addiction, Chili Pepppers, Smashing Pumpkins, etc. were all around well before Nirvana, before that you also had the Ramones, Stooges, New York Dolls, etc. that were punk and/or"alternative". You also had softer groups like the Cure, Bauhaus, etc. that were considered "alternative". Pearl Jam did as much to push the "alternative: Seattle sound as Nirvana and were probably bigger than Nirvana for a good part of the early 90's. I think Pink Floyd is underrated. Nobody else like them.
  6. No, although my wife does. I get yelled at all the time for throwing something in the trash. Honestly, I think with all the time and money spent on recycling we'd be better off putting that effort elsewhere else. Now they also have all the rules too on what can/can't be thrown out so it's leading people just to dump the stuff on the side of the road or in the river. 18 different trucks picking stuff up at different times of the year. Lawmakers have done a poor job making this work. The fact that they all go in a bin (instead of some type of sealed container) makes it a pain because everything has to be washed out or it will stink, which wastes water. I think you could just hire some people (or invent a machine) to sort through this crap when you empty a trash truck for 1/10th the cost and 1/100th of the effort and get the same result.
  7. Crash Test Dummies - that's tough. They only really had one well known song, and I thought that was so bizarre it was catchy in a pop/bizarre sort of way. We have to add Limp Bizkit to the list as well. Was there anything worse than their Who cover when they sampled a Speak and Spell?
  8. Creed I agree with, although musically they were pretty good, except their singer thought he was Jesus.
  9. If your younger, you probably mostly know the Crying, Crazy, etc. songs that Aerosmith wrote to sell singles to 14 year old girls. Those plus "Walk this Way" being way overplayed I can see why somepeople wouldn't like them. The radio does a bad job of playing their good stuff and I live in Boston, I can't imagine what gets played in the rest of the country.
  10. For new groups I nominate Nickelback and Coldplay.
  11. 1986 and prior Aerosmith is underrated. Toys in the Attic is an awesome album. Post 1986 Aerosmith is way, way overrated.
  12. Grateful Dead is most overrated, easily. Most people can't even name a single song of theirs yet their somehow considered classic. Eagles are overrated as a rock band, can't tell if you there overrated as a country band because country isn't my thing. That being said, huge Joe Walsh fan. Kiss is overrated musically, but still had some good songs and had a massive pop culture impact. I remember my entire neighborhood when I was kid having massive debates whether Gene Simmons spit up real blood or how his tounge got to be like that.
  13. To me, since there's no cap in baseball, the Yankees should win almost every year. Sure the Sox, Mets, and Tigers are spending money too, but those teams are still outspent by 60 to 70% by the Yankees. They can outspend them on scouting too. I can't see rooting for someone with that much of an advantage. It's like rooting for the tank when seeing that Tienaman Square pic. Throw in that they've spent their money on so many Mitchell report people makes it even worse.
  14. I'm in the middle, slightly disappointed but TV pretty much ends up disappointing all the times so I don't get my hopes up. Last season was so long ago too that I found myself trying to remember what the heck was goign on. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks. However, that first part was totally stupid, flying, all powerful guy who can stop time, time travel and regenerate running away from teenage girl with gun.
  15. All those ex Yankees - where was Roger? It won't happen with Fenway for a long time, politically too complicated, although it sounds like there might have been some shenanigans to get the new Yankee stadium built.
  16. That monster was caught on a Red Daredevil with the skirt of a white yum tube added as a trailer. Threw everything in my tacklebox, at the end, starting throwing mostly spoons, convinced they were deeper than I could throw and needed some casting distance.
  17. Thanks Griz and welcome to the forum. I've been up there twice, both this year. For those of you don't know, Wachusett is where the Mass record for Smallmouth was set (8.2) plus state records for Brown, Lake and Rainbow trout, Landlocked Salmon, and White Perch. That being said, be prepared for the montrosity of a fish in the picture below, being the only fish I've caught in 7 hours there over two days.
  18. 10-2 has been my worst luck so far this year, had much more luck after 4:00PM and before 8:00AM.
  19. VH1 Classic was showing it all the time. Did you try Pirate Bay? edit - Ooops, never mind - just noticed your anti-torrent.
  20. With the new stadium they might be able to outspend the #2 payroll team by $150 million, as opposed to the usual $100 million per year.
  21. Definitely part of the game, I only mentioned it since it was the last regular season loss, and was also to the Dolphins. Pats looked putrid in both, but one at least you could put your finger on the reason and it had more to do with coaching, this game they were dominated on both sides of the ball. They looked like a Pop Warner team at times vs the Dolphins. Right now the Broncos look like the class of the AFC.
  22. [/quote Yeah since they didn't tape it it was OK with the NFL, and all the ESPN talking heads said it was no big deal since everyone steals signals - my how opinions turned 9 months later.
  23. Outplayed in every aspect of the game too. I expected Cassell to struggle at times, same with the secondary, but the O line, D line, and linebacking corps all laid eggs too. Buffalo barely beat the Raiders, AFC East looking weak.
  24. Good luck. Quitting is not easy, took me five years to finally not want one again breaking down occassionally with a smoke or with dip, used Nicorette as well. One thing that helped me quit is having a drink at all times with me, especially in the car. Short sips of water or a coke fills that nervous habit while driving and keeps you occupied. Found that worked better than chewing gum, etc., basically sipping a drink as you would take a drag.
