  1. I only wear boots about 30 times a year these days, but my Timberlands are between 12 to 15 years old, went through a summer working paving and landscaping, countless moshpits, and every NE winter storm in those 12 to 15 years. I have to think I've gotten at least 500 days out of them and they still look good and soles not in horrible shape. My father had some good luck with Wolverines, I know they used to have some lighter soles, I think those trade durability (in the sole) for comfort.
  2. Pats D and offensive line looked putrid, Moss looked disinterested, overall stinker for the Pats. They didn't look this bad since they lost to the Dolphins two years ago, but that was the game the Dolphins bought the audiotapes of Brady's audibles and knew what they were doing all game. No explanation for this egg. Ronnie Brown on my fantasy bench - ouch! :-[ > :'(
  3. Like today, pretty much said pack it in between 9:00 and noon, I always thought the bite would be on until a little later than 9:00, but got diddley between 8:30 and 10:30 after a good early morning.
  4. Yeah, it seemed generic, I've seen some peaks at odd times, but pretty much doesn't look too different day to day. I was most interested in the "worst" times.
  5. http://www.weather.com/activities/recreation/outdoors/fishing/ I'm sure it's generic since it's not species specific.
  6. OK, have had little luck at the Wachussett. What gate should I be looking to go to for fall fishing? I've heard of monster smallmouth, last time out all I got was a 4" one on a 3" lure.
  7. Anyone look at this and is it useful? I stumbled across it and wasn't sure if it could be helpful, or whether it was overly generic.
  8. Mepps spinners, pretty much what Rooster says, not a lot of press on inline spinners, but do quite well.
  9. Have a cheap Wally World one in that shade of blue with white. Works quite well.
  10. This and some Slayer and we're set to get rid of them.
  11. I'm a Sox fan, but the Rays are everything you want to see in sports, young, low payroll team rising to the occassion.
  12. Regarding Marino, he went downhill faster than anyone ever seemed to point out. He was pretty awful for the last 3 or 4 years, and was closer to average for a good point of his career. That being said, he had a run when he was absolutely incredible. He always seemed to be yelling at his teammates too, not in a good way either. He'd fire a 100 mph screen pass at a no hands fullback 5 yards away and then chew him out when he couldn't make the catch.
  13. Brady - best ever and a sixth round pick. 3 Super Bowl rings and played only one year with decent talent at wide reciever - and broke every passing record there was.
  14. On the bailout, Govt gets 11% interest on it's loan and 80% of the company. They should be able to keep it afloat and make a pretty sizeable gain on this. On the blame game, a lot of the blame lies in the small time mortgage originators and house appraisers who were making a pretty penny on commissions fudging this crap and overvaluing the property then selling them off to the bigger companies as viable mortgages. They go in, inflate the numbers, get the person qualified, then sell it off to WAMU, Countrywide or Wells Fargo and pocket an easy couple of grand. No skin of their back if the mortgage goes belly up. Sure the larger companies had to know, but the large corps were the same people who were villified for years as racists for not giving mortgages into poor communities, so they would've been painted as horrible people if they tried to put the brakes on. The system was broken, however, since people were takign cash out and spending, keeping the economy afloat, no one really cared even though it's been going on for over a decade. Eventually the bubble burst and the large companies were left holding the bag.
  15. I just got back in after about 20 years out so I really progressed. The last season I fished before this year I remember using the same Blackberry (remember when worms smelled like fruit?) worm over and over, trying to rig it every which way to keep it together, because I was saving up for a car for when i got my license and had no cash.

I did the same thing this spring. Read everything you can here and you'll be catching more fish than you did twenty years ago.
  17. This might actually not cost the govt that much by the end of the day, or in this case the two years. Asset wise, AIG seems solid, just no liquidity.
  18. Frogs, hollow bodied floaters and swim/buzz frogs should be OK, a Johnsons Silver Minnow or similar spoon should work OK too if tipped with a trailer and fished topwater.

It's been that way for a long time with the Colts. Their corners can maul people but you can't even breath near Harrison or Wayne.
  20. It was nice to see a coach with the stones to go for two and the win, but can't imagine why the ref blew the whistle when he did. If he waited another second the play would've been reviewable and the league has instructed them to let plays like this play themselves out.
  21. For the summer, try some heavier baits so you can reach deeper water. The best (not largest) bass I caught all year was on a Kastmaster spoon, no other lure I own could reach where I threw this thing. Side by side, the bass is probably going to bite a fluke, senko or a rapala over it, but I couldn't get those out to the bass.
  22. smart enough to use a calculator.
  23. Favre had great running games, Ahman Green, Dorsey Levens, even Edgar Bennet was servicable in his early days. He's had 2 playoff games with a QB rating over 70 this decade, none over 80, 4 games under 60. His good year last year was related to his receivers turning many short dump offs into long plays. Green Bay led the league in YAC last year.
  24. Farve is overrated. Wings way too many bad throws and makes poor decisions. He could get away with it as a young guy but age has caught up with him. He's made some of the worst throws I've seen in my life over the last few years. Unbelievable talent, but as a game manager he is nowhere near a Manning, Brady or Montana and with age catching up to him - I'm not sold he's any better than what Buffalo or the Dolphins have. Pats could sign Culpepper and end up still with the best QB in the division. Amazing that guy doesn't have a job, he had one of the 3 best seasons ever, at least statistically, by a QB only a few years ago and he's still relatively young.
