  1. I used those in a brief (and unsuccessful) attempt at fly fishing. Never tried them on bass lures. If memory serves, they worked good on flies because the eyes on fly hooks were small. I don't know if they would snap on an eye (line tie) the size of a crankbait. I know someone's gonna come along and say just tie directly onto the lure, but it's our duty as bass fishermen to experiment ;D
  2. I used them for a while but a had a couple open up and lost the crankbaits and the fish. I now use duo-lock/cross lock types and have never had a problem. Like Bowtech_182 said, remove the split rings that come on the baits.
  3. Since you said spinning tackle on a small pond, I'd also consider a Strike King Mini-King spinnerbait and a floating Rapala. Those are two baits a do well with in ponds.
  4. To me, ultra light fills a niche. Like on those tough day/clear water/bluebird sky kind of days when you just want to catch something. Somedays you want to catch something big but some days you just want to have some fun. Those are the days I'll throw a Rooster Tail or the smallest size floating Rapala. You'll catch a lot of bluegill and crappie but I was also suprised at how many "keeper" size bass these small baits catch.
  5. The XPS Rattle Shad is very good. It vibrates at lower retrieve speeds better than a Rattle Trap. Also, the BPS Tri-Vibes are good. They are the ones with three line ties so you can control the amount of vibration.
  6. I used to use a MH 6 and a half foot Bionic Blade for spinnerbaits. It's a good rod, especially when you get them on sale. The only down side it's a little on the heavy side. Stasher1 one had a really good suggestion. The med. power 6 and a half foot Woo Daves Extreme is designated as a spinnerbait rod.
  7. I saw that too. On Bass Pro Shop's website they list the reel at 9.4 oz., but in the new catalog it's say's 6.6. Wonder which one is right because 9.4 sounds way to heavy and 6.6 sounds a little too lite to be possible for a reel with an aluminum frame at that price.
  8. Usually a 3" curl tail grub. I also use a 2" curl tail grub on Stike King Mini Kings.
  9. Iron Man. He was my favorite comic book hero when I was a young'un.
  10. My oldest spinning reel is a Quantum Energy from when they first came out ('95 or '96 I think). My oldest baitcaster that I still use is a Team Daiwa S from '98. The oldest baitcaster that I have "retired" is an Abu Garcia Ultra Mag 1 I got in 83' but it still works like new. Oldest rod is a BPS Crankin' Stick that will see it's ninth year of action this year.
  11. 5" Tiki Stick rigged wacky style.
  12. I use a crosslock type snap on my spinnerbaits. I put a small piece of tubing on the R bend so the snap can't slide up or down the arm. Saves time and so far I haven't noticed any adverse effects.
  13. They also honor catalog prices, just make sure you have the catalog with you.
  14. $100 Bass Pro Shops gift card but the best gift was my oldest brother who's 44 just had a tumor and about 10 inches of his colon removed. The doctors were afraid it was cancer but it turned out to be fatty tumor, no cancer. He got to come home from the hospital Christmas Eve. After he recovers from the surgery he should be good as new
  15. Amen. That's why my wife and I are staying home today.
  16. I would get the Citica. I have both, the Revo S wins as far as smoothest retrieve, most likely due to higher bearing count. But with the same rod, line, and casting weight the Citica gets the nod at casting distance. The Citica is also lighter if that's a concern. The brake weights on the Revo S seem cheap. I use two weights on with four off and after I had the reel a while the four weights that were off just started slipping into the "on" position so I had to take the off completely. Let us know which one you get and good luck with either one
  17. Okeechobee Fats bag for me.
  18. Is this Ken Nance from the old crankenstein.net ?!!??? Fishing has been good in Alabama. Unfortunately I hit a rock last week and bent prop shaft and tore up prop. I am about to hook up boat and take to couple of dealers to get estimates. I hope the price is lower than what they quoted on the phone! Otherwise my boat will be parked for a while.... No, my name is Mike. Someone else asked me if I was Ken Nance. I didn't steal somebody's handle, did I :-??
  19. Winterizing the boat today and calling it quits for the year. I've always done pretty decent in November but this year the November fishing was tougher than Superman's kneecaps :-[.
  20. People who don't know they've got the right of way at a 4 way stop. It kills me when they get their way before me and then look at me like I'm the idiot. Also, people who don't use turn signals, which usually happens at the afforementioned 4-way stop >
  21. Well, then I'm a Mook, just didn't know it!
  22. I like the looks of it, especially the narrow spooled version. Hey Muddy, how many Floogers do ya have to have to be a Mook ;D?
  23. Thanks, Muddy. Since it has pretty much the same line capacity as the Summit, I think I may get another one of those. I have one and really like it.
  24. Thanks for the info. They must be out there somewhere
