  1. Tackle Tour's review of the Patriarch says it comes in a standard spool and wide spool version. I've only found the wide spool version. If anyone has the standard spool version, where did you find it and what are the specs. (weight, line capacity, etc.).
  2. In Tackle Tour's conclusion of the review it say's it comes in a narrow and wide spool version. Has anybody found the narrow spool version? I've only seen the wide spool.
  3. The Pflueger Summitt comes in a wide spool version.
  4. I have one, it's a really good little reel. The frame and crank side cover are aluminum but it's still super lightweight. If you're looking for a quality small-framed reel, I would highly recommend it. As far as the retail price, I'm kind of like Bassyak, I try not to pay retail for anything if I can help it. I got mine at Bass Pro with a coupon and cashed in my rewards points and got it for about $120.
  5. I bought a Pro Max this summer, on the cast it sounded like it was coming apart on the inside and the thumb bar wouldn't re-engage after every cast. I took it apart to lube, oil, and check to see if anything was wrong with it, no changes. I ended up taking it back for a refund. It may have just been the one I bought, but I wouldn't recommend one. I do have an Extreme Lite that I've been using for 3 years, no problems with it.
  6. I have one, the Team Allstar 6'4" spinnerbait rod. It's about as good as any $100 dollar rod you'll find.
  7. I've had one for three years, no problems. I would definately recommend one, especially for that price.
  8. I use a Team Allstar 6'4'', check it out on their website, it's listed as "spinnerbait 1".
  9. The biggest thing my wife understands about fishing line is it's pretty tough on her vacuum >. That Hoover was pretty tough but it was no match for 17lb mono. After it quit smokin' and I cut the line out I got a pretty stern lecture about picking ALL of the old line up after I re-spool.
  10. It is not until you get around to the Trions. Asaro and Presidents do you see the real great reels Flooger makes
  11. I would also look into one with a metal frame vs. graphite or plastic, especially if you'll be targeting snook. Never caught one myself but from what I've seen they look like pretty big critters! I've never had a graphite frame break but the one's I've had seem like they they weren't as quiet or smooth as reels with aluminum frame.
  12. Ironic you should ask about the brakes on the Revo S. Anytime I have fished in the rain (like this weekend ) I have to take the side plate off and dry of the rim the brakes make contact with. For some reason I guess water gets inside the reel and casting distance goes down. The brake collars themselves seem pretty thin. Some of them won't stay disengaged so I took four of them out, I usually only use two anyway. On the whole, this reel requires a little more lubing and oiling to maintain casting distance and keep the noise down. When it got wet this week end it also started "grinding" on the retrieve. I don't have either the Trion or the Asaro, but I do have a Summit I bought this spring and am pretty satisfied with it. Casting distance is great, it's light weight and has a frame that is similar if not identical to the Asaro. Let us know which reel you pick!!
  13. I'm curious who's making Abu Garcia reels, the drag star on the Revo STX is the same as some Bass Pro reels and some Pflueger reels. The drag star on the Revo S is also the same as on the Pflueger Cetina (think that's the name :-?. ) I have Revo's, Bass Pro's, Pflueger's and like 'em all.
  14. Clear-blue fluorescent Stren original.
  15. Another vote for the soft bags here. I bought a Okeechobee Fats bag this spring and really like it. I did switch out one of the boxes for a Falcon spinnerbait/buzzbait box.
  16. I had one of those too. Emphasis on the "had"
  17. You might want to check out the Bass Pro Extreme combo. The 6' 6" Woo Daves is their spinnerbait rod. I think the combo is $100 or $120.
  18. Abu Garcia D5. Man, I was excited. Lightter than the C3 and C4, recessed reel foot. I never could get it to cast right and when I was reeling in a bass it felt like the gears were binding up. Finally took it apart and noticed that the main gear was actually rubbing against the reel frame and had started to wear a groove into the frame. Ended up trading it in at Bass Pro Shops at their reel trade-in.
  19. Ditto on the BPS Crankin' Stick, especially if you can catch 'em on sale.
  20. I fish a lot out of a small Bass Hunter type boat, it sits really low to the water and a six foot rod work great for topwaters and jerkbaits.
  21. None of the Max series have an aluminum frame. Don't know about the Black and Silver Max, but I did buy the Pro Max. I brought it home, spooled it up and went out in the yard to test it. Distance on the cast was pretty good but it made an odd grinding noise on the cast. Also, the thumbar wouldn't re-engage about 1 out of 5 casts. I brought in the house and took it apart and checked/lubed/greased, back out to yard, no changes, still noisey and the thumbar still would not re-engage after every cast. So I took it back. If you're set on an Abu Garcia, I'd at least step up the Revo S, I've got one, no complaints. The frame on the Max series is also a litte bigger the the Revo's.
  22. I bought one of the Okachobee Fats bags this spring, the big green one. Man, you can get a ton of stuff in there!! I did switch out one of the boxes in it and substituted a Falcon spinnerbait box.
  23. Another vote for the Falcon spinnerbait box.
