  1. give me a few million and ill use a zebco on an ugly stick
  2. correct, texas rig it with the skirt on the top of the hook near the line.
  3. i'd go with the glx bsr852. i use that rod for both shakey and drop shot. its also a great rod for light jigs/t-rigs and weightless plastics. i hear the loomis shakey rod is ideal for shakey but i think the bsr852 has been described as a better "all-around" finesse plastics rod.
  4. i use a heavy power, fast action, 7' baitcaster. not a dedicated frog rod but it does well. if you own a pitching/flipping rod and dont use frogs too much, id use that.
  5. i own both rods and i agree with the post above. bsr803 for bottom baits, sjr783 for an all-around rod.
  6. ive never used braid but i think im going to try power pro... these are the lines i've used (stradic FI) and recommend , all better with kvd line conditioner: mono - trilene xl copoly - yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft (cheap, sensitive, very low memory with kvd) flouro - trilene 100% (only flouro ive used, great reviews) i think choosing a line has alot to do with personal preference. some may love yozuri US while others hate it etc.
  7. use a 1/4oz jig with a 3" craw trailer. natural color. let it sink to the bottom on a semi-slack line. wait a few secs. drag it slowly. shake it in place. hop it. swim it a few feet. do combos of all those. some days they like a slow crawl and other days they like a faster presentation. learn to feel the bottom with that jig and you can now fish t-rigs, tubes, grubs.
  8. dude get modern warfare II instead.
  9. i would not hesitate to throw a 6" senko on the 852. just dont whip it too hard.
  10. your rod description matches the bsr852 perfectly also look at avid series if you want to spend less for a great rod. id look at the 6'8" mxf. id definitely get an xf tip on the rod you decide on. id pair it up with a 2500 stradic
  11. ive never used a citica but id get a 7' med xf rod. fast will be a good choice as well. if you plan on fishing it in a good amount of cover and/or use heavy hooks, get a med heavy. for tossing wacky rigged senkos on thin drop shot hooks, id go medium for sure.
  12. this is how i use different actions and powers. mod fast - crankbaits fast - good all around action. spinnerbaits, jigs, plastics, swimbaits, frogs, jerks, tubes, grubs extra fast - bottom baits (jigs, t-rigs), shakey jigs, drop shot med light - small baits in sparse cover med - small plastics, small jigs and t-rigs, cranks med heavy - t-rigs, jigs, most spinnerbaits, larger cranks. any bait in moderate cover heavy - frog, heavy jigs, 1oz swimbaits. any bait in heavy cover shorter rods give you more accuracy and less casting distance and vice versa. most of my rods are between 6'6" and 7" some people wont agree with my post. some use extra fast for frogs and jerkbaits. some dont use extra fast for anything...
  13. not sure if theyre out yet, but im looking forward to trying the rage baby craws this spring.
  14. id also get the citica in that price range.
  15. what baits will you be using? heavy cover? big bass? for catching 2-4 lb small and large mouth in sparse cover, ml is a blast. i like small plastic craws on 1/8 jig heads or small weightless plastics on an avid mlxf. if this will be more of an all-around rod for baits around 3/16-5/16oz, go for the medium. casting mostly 5/8 and 1/2oz? go med heavy.
  16. although not a technique specific frog rod, i use a loomis mbr844c. prob not the best choice, but i use it for other baits i dont throw too often (small swim baits, large jigs etc) id get something 7' or longer, fast or extra fast in a heavy power to move fish + salad.
  17. thats what im using on my rogue ultralight. i believe its the same size as the 750 with a bigger spool...
  18. i use an avid 6'9" mlxf for 3" craws on small jig heads, small weightless plastics, 1/8oz bitsy bugs you could use your other more moderate rod for cranks... if you want another fast action, id go with the avid mentioned above, AVS66MLF. I use the LES version for light tubes, grubs, cranks, small spinners and inline spinners .
  19. i use the mbr844c glx for light swimbaits, c-rigs, heavy jigs and t-rigs, frogs
  20. if youre not going IMX or GLX, id suggest a st. croix avid. 6'9" mlxf or 6'8" mxf i believe they have a similar warranty to loomis. $50 deductible
  21. ive never tried the 854. ive been eyeing it for my next purchase. i like fishing lighter jigs most of the time and i love the 803 for this.
  22. if GLX go with the loomis
  23. i get a st croix avid or g-loomis imx with the change. id go with the CI4 or the stradic FI (on sale) in 2500 size. id get a medium action 6'6"-7" rod. MH if you are using heavier baits or fishing alot of cover. XF for jigs, softplastics F for anything MF for crankbaits
  24. i like a sensitive, 6'6" - 7', M or ML, spinning rod with an XF action. 2500 size reel. current setup is a bsr852 glx with shimano stradic if i buy a dedicated shakey rod, i'll get the shr822s. i've heard great reviews on them... i have good luck with straight tailed worms (roboworms, zoom trick, zoom finesse). you can pretty much put anything on a shakey jig.
