  1. this is an outrage. they wont pay shipping on a rod not covered by warranty? everyone send me your imx and glx rods (ill pay for shipping) and ill burn them all in the backyard. that should learn em. ps- dont ever buy a new car.
  2. spinning rod for a verticle fall
  3. def not my go-to technique but ive had luck slowly dragging the weight by reeling the line in at a slow constant speed maintaining bottom contact.
  4. its a fishing rod not a sports car. youve done your research and like that rod? buy it.
  5. is this a joke? what am i missing here? inspector decided it wasnt a faulty blank so were gonna burn down shimano corporate? (if they get rid of xpeditor im lighting the first torch)
  6. 1/4 or 5/16oz finesse jig with small craw trailer (green craw) trick worm (green pumpkin) 3/8 or 1/2oz spinnerbait with small blades (white) 5" senko (green pumpkin) small shallow crankbait (firetiger)
  7. the no questions asked warranty is 50 dollars i believe. they actually ship the rod to you first and you return the broken rod in the tube provided. were you looking for a free replacement or did they deny you this service? http://www.gloomis.com/publish/content/gloomis/en/g__loomis_homepage/customerservice/warrantyinformation/xpeditorinformation.html
  8. does color matter? absolutely. but usually not. there are days when they will bite any color and others when changing something as subtle as the color of the flake will trigger more strikes. need proof? when the bite is slow and you finally find a bait theyre hitting, ask your buddy to tie on the same bait in a different color. that being said, i usually only buy green pumpkin, watermelon and black for soft plastics. white or smoke for bait fish imitating soft plastics.
  9. post your question on this forum: http://www.bwca.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=forum.conference&confid=1 i went in sept and i hear there can be alot of mosquitos earlier in the yr. 100% deet is a must have. dont forget dry bags for your sleeping bag and clothes. when your buddy stands up to pee and flips the canoe you'll be happy you did. as far as tackle id bring small jigs with small trailers, small worms, senkos, jerkbaits, crankbaits. want to catch northern pike? steel leaders and rapalas! many people fish with live leeches out there. too messy for me. i assume you will be on a canoe and not have a depth finder. alot of the lakes are pretty clear and you should be able to see rock piles. youre gonna love it out there. i did 4 nights and had a blast. where are you putting in?
  10. whats your price range? cant go wrong with avids IMO avs68mxf or avs69mlxf for the applications you mentioned
  11. 100% of the time for rods. my local stores dont have much of a selection of decent rods, and the ones they do have are overpriced.
  12. i cant wait to meet a bass that my left hand cant "winch" in. bottom line - if it feels comfortable, its on the correct side
  13. check out the avid series from st. croix. i find the 6'3" rods perfect for kayak fishing. 6'3" mlxf is extremely fun to fish, the mxf is more versatile...
  14. i dont order tackle from anyplace else anymore. huge inventory, fast shipping, excellent prices.
  15. like mentioned above, size, color or action arent exactly ideal. if you keep getting short strikes, change it up a bit.
  16. bsr852! my favorite spinning rod
  17. ive never used IMX but have used GLX. My next choice would be st. croix avid as well.
  18. i own an UL and Med action spinning rod. very light and sensitive. if they had a warranty like loomis or st croix id prob own more...
  19. finesse jig with small craw trailer 5" senko type bait 3/8 oz white spinnerbait small, fat shallow running crank in firetiger shakey jig with worm
  20. i agree with some of the posts above. get imx or glx. the sensitivity, weight and warranty make loomis worth the price to me. take your time and find them for 30% off.
  21. i hear fenwick hmgs are on sale for 60 bucks at cabelas. get a 6'6" or 7' med power/fast and pair it with a 2500 stradic which are also on sale: http://www.all-americanoutdoors.com/inc/sdetail/3544
  22. i personally dont find any importance at all. but then again, i dont fish for thousands of dollars. i own 4 brands of rods.
  23. if you want an all around rod to cast all kinds of baits get a fast action. if the rod is mainly for plastics and jigs, you might want to look into extra fast. for your lure weight range id also recommend med heavy as mentioned above. for spinning rods id recommend casting lighter baits than the 1oz and getting a medium or medium light for casting up to 3/8 oz lures, jigs, plastics. you could also use it for drop shot rigs and weightless plastics like senkos and wacky rigged worms. do you want split grip or full cork? look at rods between 6 and 7 ft long. shorter rods will give you better accuracy and skipping ability. i also like them for topwaters and jerk baits. a longer rod will give you better casting distance which is nice for clear water and when searching for fish. if you have a little cash id look into st. croix starting at the avid series or g loomis starting with imx. both have great warranties. other good brands from reviews i've read are dobyns, powell, shimano, all-star, rogue, fenwick, falcon... hope this helps, do some homework and buy something you really like.
  24. inline spinners and beetle spins.
  25. Spinning: Stradic FI 2500 Casting: Chronarch 51mg
