Jig Retrieves
be the crawfish i let it sink, wait as long as i can stand (for me that equals about 10 secs) then i shake it in place, wait, drag it a few inches, wait, hop it a couple times. when they bite it remember what it was doing when they bit and repeat that. if you havent used jigs much, a good idea is to put your jig in shallow water where you can see it and watch what it does when you move your rod tip. find a sexy combo and try it out on the fish.

Help me stock my box
id keep the colors basic for plastics: black or black/blue for muddy water green pumpkin for stained water watermelon for clear id buy some 4" and 5" senkos, 6" zoom trick worms, and some 3" netbait paca craws for jig trailers to use with some 1/4oz bitsy bug jigs (cheap and very productive). buy some 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 oz worm weights for the trick worms (you can fish them weightless too). buy some 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 gamakatsu ewg hooks for the senkos and trick worms. inline spinners are good for all kinds of fish. buy some small crankbaits. rapala are a good value. i like jointed minnows. small rebel brand crawfish cranks are great for panfish. get a white spinner bait. 3/8 oz this is how i would stock a small tackle box. good luck!

What the different between line weight ?
heavier # test is stronger, thicker and more visible. also heavier # test retains more memory when using mono, flouro or a hybrid.

yeah someone might have dropped it off by his trash recepticles and he thought about it for two wks and he decided to move it to my house. or maybe the wind blew it across the street. ive also heard of rifts in time/space and it could have teleported. im going to ignore it, take care of the tv (that is sitting in my garage) when i get home. if nothing else odd happens i will probably never even talk to the guy. his house sits about 50 yards back from the road so unless were getting the mail at the same time i prob wont have to see his face. thanks for the input, all. cheers -z

BigBassGuy- ill give Best Buy a call. thanks. im 99% sure it was him... i f'ed around when i was a kid and moving a tv across the street is not very entertaining. if the screen was bashed in then maybe id consider a prank. plus my gf works during school hours. it was across the street when she left for work and it was at my house when she got home around 3pm... anyways, just wanted to hear what you guys thought about it. i'll probably ignore it unless he does some other weird thing. then its on, brother. block wars!

what would you do? - strange neighbor
it probably doesnt work, even if it did, its been sitting outside in the rain for a couple weeks. its not going to be a big problem getting rid of it. what bothers me is living next to a guy that would do something so stupid.

what would you do? - strange neighbor
im not freaking out about it, im just trying to understand what this guy was thinking. is he just a a** hole that knows that this girl living by herself wont do anything about it? or is he so stupid he thinks she wouldnt notice it came from 20 feet across the street? it blows my mind. either way this dude has problems. i wish i was there to talk to him. i told my gf to not worry about it but im unsure if this is the right idea... im not positive it was the neighbor but who else would move the tv across the street? i told her to send it back across but she doesnt even want to deal with anything that may become of that. she's scared the guy might be a wierdo...

what would you do? - strange neighbor
i recently bought a house in northern va. i am working overseas and right now only my girlfriend lives there. the neighbor right across the street had a big, old tv sitting in the front of his property where he puts his trash cans for about 2 weeks. the trash collectors would not take the tv. last night my gf came home and found the tv on our side of the street, in our trash area. is this guy mentally unstable? does he think she did not notice the huge tv sitting on his property for 2 weeks or does he just not care? my gf does not want to the confront the guy and doesnt want to move it back to his side as she is alone and wants to avoid any problems. i told her to move the tv into the garage and i would dispose of it when i come home for vacation next month. should i let it slide and wait to see if anything else happens or should i talk to the guy when i come home in a month? my gf and i think its really creepy that someone would do something like this. im thinking this dude must have some mental issues....

Loomis Warranty Question
Either way, I hope you are able to get it replaced. its my understanding that they ship the rod to you first and you ship the broken one back in the tube they provided. if you dont ship it back, they charge you for it. i dont know how they would repair the damaged rod if they already mailed you a replacement...

Baitcasting rig for newbie for under $400
avid (6'6"-7", med or med heavy, fast or extra fast) and curado 200e7. IMO the only thing a slow gear ratio is good for is for deep diving cranks. if you want a normal crank or spinnerbait to swim a little slower just slow down. a faster gear ratio will reel up the slack alot faster... these articles are about both curados, and citicas http://www.tackletour.com/reviewcuradociticapreview09.html http://www.tackletour.com/reviewshimanocitica200e.html

So many questions so little time?
dont worry about the money? good times! get a g loomis glx with a fast tip and a daiwa steez from your list- avid (med or med heavy) with fast tip and curado 200e7 avid is alot more sensitive than the others and has a great warranty. the longer the rod, the farther you can cast and the more line you move when you set the hook. the shorter the rod, the more accurate your casts are i like 6'6"-7'. many on this forum do not go under 7' i like using spinning gear for plastics but a 5 inch senko is pretty heavy. the problem might be your reel or maybe just the settings... as far as line goes, they all have strengths and weaknesses flouro can be hard to manage (kvd line and lure conditioner can help) / very sensitive and hard for fish to detect, sinks braid can probably be seen by the fish in clearer water (tying a flouro leader can help) / very sensitive and very strong for diameter, memory is not an issue mono can have a bit of stretch and is not as sensitive as the two above / less memory than flouro hybrid is a good compromise for me. im using yo-zuri ultrasoft with kvd l&l on most of my setups. im going to try the regular 6# hybrid on a 2500 spinning reel soon. hopefully i can manage it with some of that kvd spray. green is what i use and what ive seen recommend the most.
-
What is the difference?
finesse jigs generally have a smaller profile. flipping jigs usually have heavier hooks for fishing cover

Yo-Zuri Hybrid question
anyone ever use the hybrid on a spinning reel? want to try 6lb on a 2500 reel with kvd l&l...

Backpacking tent
i have not used many 2 man tents but i will give you a few brands that i have read good reviews about msr black diamond mountain hardware sierra designs big agnes if you plan on using it with someone other than your gf, id go ahead and get a 3 man tent. its very important to buy a tent with a full rain fly. vestibules are very nice to have to keep your gear dry. if you buy a footprint make sure it goes INSIDE the tent or you will create a bathtub if it rains. make sure you get some good sleeping pads. EDIT: i just realized price is your main concern. check out eureka 2 man tents. i have an older apex 2xt which has kept me dry in rainstorms lasting all night. its not the lightest tent but you cant have it all.

What is the Most Sensitive Rod Money Can Buy?
loomis glx is the most sensitive by far that ive tried. id like to compare it to some of the JDM rods, like megabass for example...
-
How often do your rods snap?
only when the car door closes on it or when my friend decides to carry it with the tip down and it scrapes cement. never while fishing.

I hate dinks...ready to just give up
