  1. Yo Zuri is a great line for the price. Probably not the best line for jigs sensitivity wise. Defier is great for topwater but not sure how it does in the sensitivity dept. Armilo might be worth a try. Just spooled up a reel but havent used it. Id buy an extra spool for topwater but it would be a pain to switch on the water.
  2. no offense, Frosty, but not living together before marriage is a huge gamble. i probably would have been divorced 4 times had i not lived with former GFs. to me it sounds like she is a little needy but with time it seems like she will give the OP some space. breaking up with someone about it is ridiculous advice. unless, of course, she gave an ultimatum.
  3. the 6'8"MXF are my favorite st croix rods.
  4. nah man, they work fine on NRX too
  5. must haves!: s-crank pop-x popmax 110
  6. well you have to have a rod for every bait, right? i could go out all day with 3 spinning combos and have a good time. i'd fish 1/4oz skirted jigs with 3" trailers on a MH. paddletails, weightless and light t-rig on a M. finesse plastics, small inline spinners and trebles on a ML. for 3/8+oz moving baits i prefer the BC reel.
  7. you have to try the Sculpin. Another great IMO. regular not the grapefruit. edit: sorry i read "ever had a beer from BP? nope"
  8. i think you are right. i didnt know i was such a sheep until i just read this (first hit when googleing "low alcohol ipa"): http://fortune.com/2015/06/20/low-alcohol-ipa-beer-summer/ i think im going to try that Stone Go-To although alcohol content is the same if i can find it. I like their regular IPA and Arrogant Bas**rd is one of my favorite beers when on tap. The bottle doesnt come close on this particular beer. edit: some of these get into the 3% range. ill never find them though... https://www.ratebeer.com/beerstyles/session-ipa/121/
  9. Thanks, Steveo-1969. I think my initial post might have made me seem a little thirstier than I really am. I might drink beer maybe 6 or 7 times a month. This does not count a beer at lunch I dont drink every fishing outing but when i do, I will drink my share but I do not get drunk - i dont bring enough for that. But I sure get tired! I guess im looking for a another session ale a bit weaker than Founders All Day but just as flavorful.
  10. just want to make sure you are not pitching jigs with the ML. unless they are light wire id go heavier.
  11. ok but make sure you want a 6'3". i would only use that for topwater and jerkbaits. if you already know you like short rods, go for it.
  12. sure, pitching is easier with short rods. any reason why you want to go so short? the Stradic 2500 ci4+ is a great lightweight reel. a bit cheaper than the stella if you are looking for some great Med/XF spinning rods, check these out based on budget. St Croix Avid 6'8" MXF G. Loomis GLX 852 G. Loomis NRX 852 (killer of all spinning quivers!)
  13. wow. tough crowd. skunked this morn? its not about self control. i dont drink to get drunk but i enjoy the taste of beer and have more than a couple. if you guys are hurt because i dont like watery american lager, please dont get me wrong. if my throat is dry and you hand me a bud light limon i will thank you and drink it with a smile. if im buying it will be a different brand. as far as talking to my friends like that - sure. i was trying to make the thread a little entertaining but i would and have said things like that to my close friends when sober. tough love. i have never fished with anyone wearing white sunglasses, hope to soon. so anyone like beer?
  14. i have self control in the beginning. a couple hours in, im taking sips too often without thinking. im never getting drunk. the last few hours are just a bit more than i'd like and im looking for a good beer with low alcohol content to replace my All Day's which are already low content for an IPA...
  15. When its legal and i'm not driving, I like to do a little light beer drinking (at least that is the plan in the beginning). I like a beer with a little bit of flavor, starting with a European Lager or Pilsner but preferably an American Ale or IPA. Founder's All Day IPA is my go-to but on long fishing trips I sometimes end up saying things i kind of regret like "You must be the only guy that owns white sunglasses that is not a ******." or "Man, your wife is so hot. If you weren't married to her..." by dusk. What do you guys drink out there that is not a Bud or Miller type beer when you don't want to get too intoxicated?
  16. i like > 7:1 for swimjigs. try a 3/8oz jig. let it hit the bottom and maybe twitch it as it falls. then start your retrieve. the next cast you will know how long to wait before retrieving if you want to stay a few feet above the bottom. lower rod tip as it gets closer to you.

ah - the lunker frog has realistic legs. i think Yeajray231 is looking for something without the traditional legs. how do you like the LH frogs, Yeajray231? when do you use those over traditional?
  18. most of the time im using FC for jigs which are my favorite bait. the only other line i would use is braid and that would usually only be for heavy vegetation.
  19. that should cover most techniques. a ML spinning will really only be good for very light baits IMO. DS, ned rig, light hardbaits. id get a M spinning, MH BC and a H BC - all fast actions. getting two rods of the same power wouldnt make sense if you only have 3 rods IMO. i could get by with the med spinning and med heavy baitcaster for 80% of the baits i throw.
  20. siebert is a good place for jigs. pay attention if the hooks are heavy, medium or light wire. a heavy wire hook will not be easy to set with a medium light rod, for example. a light wire hook might not be the best choice for heavy cover and a heavy rod. i buy quality jig heads (siebert, cadman, elken) and add skirts by using a $2 skirt tool. PM me if you are interested in putting your own jigs together and ill send you some links and info.
  21. the old classic BCR 803 GLX maxes out at 3/8oz jigs plus a trailer in my opinion. i would not like to throw 1/2oz jigs on that rod. you can do it, it wont break the rod, but far from ideal. not sure about the new GLX version. PM me if you would like some additional resources for looking into the rod. remember, that trailer adds considerable weight to the jig.
  22. yo zuri hybrid is a great and cheap all-around line. not my first choice for jigs but great with moving baits.

the baby kahara is smaller than the pad crasher jr. both weigh 1/4oz. ive never fished the pocket frog but i can recommend those two.
  24. i like to keep a senko tied on for a follow up cast for any bait.
