Best Low Memory Mono
Hey folks, I am looking for the best mono line that does a good job of NOT holding memory. Right now I am running 17lb suffix siege and I find this line to be pretty good. I do not like to use much less than 15lb or so as most of my fishing is inshore saltwater (primarily redfish). I run powerpro on my spinning rods, but I prefer mono in my casters. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How many rods do you take when you go fishing??
Usually 3. For bass I bring the following I bring 2 BC and one spin, for inshore salt I usually bring 2 spin one BC

Something I've neaver under stood about redfish regulations.
Down here in Louisiana we can keep 5 redfish per person. They have to be larger than 16 inches and one per limit can be larger than 27 inches. From what I understand the 27 + inch redfish have reached their sexual maturity and contribute more to the spawn than smaller fish. That would be my guess. I don't like to eat the larger fish because the meat is tougher, so it doesn't really bother me.

The DOA stuff works pretty well.

What is the best type bobber
I use ones that are the same size as the Mr. Crappie but they are red and white with clips on each end.

Speckled trout lures
Man oh man do I love to catch these yellow mouth devils. I was just wondering how you folks like to fish for these tasty suckers. Here are my favorite speckled trout lures. 1. MirrOlure MirrOdine (chartreuse belly and back). Seems like the little guys can't leave this one alone. 2. MirrOlure She Pup (red and chrome). Nothing beats a good topwater bite. 3. Hybrid Flurry 3" (purple and chartreuse). I jig with a 1/4-1/2 jig head. 4. Salt Water Assassin 4" Sea Shad (chicken on a chain). Same jig as above 5. Berkley Gulp 3" Shrimp (new penny). Sometimes I jig these but I prefer put them under a popping cork.

Good Crappie Baits
90% of the time I use tube jigs under a cork. We catch em in pretty shallow water most of the time. They tend to hold really tight to structure. I use a 1/32 oz. jig head about 2 foot under the cork. I prefer using any tube jig with a chartreuse skirt (black and chartreuse is my go to color). I retrieve is pretty slow. I will jig once or twice, take up the slack, and wait for the bite. They usually hit on the stop. Other then tube jigs I like to throw beetle spins. Usually the smaller size (I can't remember what weight). I love to fish like this especially because my wife enjoys it. She grew up fishing like this so she rarely turns down a trip!! Enjoy

best spinning reel
Yup I would have to say Sahara. I have the larger 4000 that I use for inshore saltwater and I love it. My wife uses the 2500 Sedona which is nice, but the bale acts up from time to time and it is not as smooth.

Question for Saltwater/Inshore People
Sounds like a good setup to me. My salt/fresh setup is a 7'2" Cumara, and a 100 calcutta. I spool it with 40lb power pro. For fresh I use it for jigs, topwater frogs etc... For salt I use it for 1/2oz gold spoons and spinner baits. I mostly fish for reds and speckled trout down here. I find the small size of the calcutta easy to palm so my hand does not get tired after a long day. Obviously this setup is more catered to salt but it gets the job down in fresh. Good luck

traveling to N'oleans
To be quite honest I would try some inshore saltwater. The speckled trout and redfish south of the big easy are unbelievable. Are you looking to go with a guide or are you bringing your boat?

louisiana lafayette
chat with the locals and they might share some info with you. I am just outside of baton rouge and throw a lot of worms, spinner baits and crankbaits. Weightless sinkos, 6 in powerbait worms, white or black 1/4oz spinner baits, and shad colored crankbaits when the cover permits. We fish a lot of bayous etc... so flipping plastics against cypress trees or into lilies usually produces. If you want to catch the big daddies in louisiana head to toledo bend or give me a holler some time and I can take you redfishing ;D

Whats this yrs new or fav lure ?
Hey Falcon, how deep do those red eye shad swim? I have never used a lipless crank bait before and was thinking about giving them a shot. I typically fish in less than 8 feet of water sometimes less than 4. Thanks bud

Jigs and Trailers
Hey everyone, I am new to the board. Seems like a great place to pick up some new info and hang out. I have a question about fishing jigs. I usually fish crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and plastics. I picked up some jigs the other day and don't really know where to start ;D Most of the bass I catch locally are quite small and that jig with a trailer just looks too big for them :'( Can jigs be effective without a trailer? Thanks for the help

Getting Started With Crankbaits
I like the shad colored bandit that swims 2-4 feet. I fish pretty shallow most of the time and this seems to work well. I also like a a crawfish colored bandit for the same depth. Have fun. I love catching em on the crankbait.

Garcia Silver Max baitcast??
I have the silvermax and it works pretty well. I bought it to learn to throw baitcasters and it served it's purpose. For a less expensive reel I find it to be pretty solid. I have an extra one around here somewhere. Shoot me a PM if you want to work out a trade or something. Good luck
