  1. I have never had this problem with Powerpro. I use 30-65lb on all my reels except my crankin' rod.
  2. I picked up a few boo jigs earlier tonight. I might have to try the paca chunk with it.
  3. What is your favorite jig? Which trailer do you prefer? Share some pics with the rest of us!! I really like the war eagle heavy finesse jigs in black and blue with the net bait paca chunk trailer also in black and blue. I just love the way this combo looks. I have a lot of confidence with this jig. Sorry about the poor quality pic, my wife had the digital camera :'(
  4. The guides on the carrot stix are loud when using braid. I don't want this to turn into a bash carrot stix thread, but this is something I observed with the ones that I owned. My Powell, Falcon, Kistler and Dobyns rods are not nearly as loud. When using most of my rods I barely notice the noise.
  5. I use the 703 for 1/2 oz or less jigs and 1/4 oz or less t-rigs. I also use it for senkos and flukes. This rod is really sensitive and has good backbone when fishing the slop. Anything over 1/2 oz I would go with the 704.
  6. I use 30lb powerpro for these applications. I find braid to be very sensitive and durable.
  7. I use the Powell 703C for senkos, light jigs, and light t-rigs. I could not be happier with this rod. This rod has a great tip and I can fling the lightest baits a mile. I have never tried the G-Blanks rods, but I think you can't go wrong with either rod.
  8. The sensitivity is decent. For a 50 dollar rod I would say it is good. If you pair it with braid it will be a decent setup. Avoid the 3/8-1oz model for jigs and plastics. This rod is broomstick for sure. This is what I used for frogs and punching.
  9. For 50 bucks they are hard to beat. I had one that I used for a frog rod. It was heavy, but had tons of backbone. I have since moved to a little more expensive rod that is lighter. What application are you considering this rod for?
  10. I use the the Powell 684cb for my shallow running cranks and treble hook topwaters. I like to throw the PopR and the smaller spooks with this rod. I use a citica 200E reel spooled with 12lb suffix siege or berkley big game.
  11. Shimano reel guy Split grip rod guy Zoom plastics guy
  12. I could not agree more. I went cheap twice before I found a reel that I could use without getting nasty backlashes. Get the Citica.
  13. I have a curado 7:1 that I use for plastics and absolutely love it. When throwing lighter baits I find that the rod is much more important then the reel. A rod with a nice fast tip really makes throwing lighter baits easy. I never had problems throwing weightless senkos. I find them to be plenty heavy.
  14. Same here. New line might give me a little green thumb, but thats it.
  15. I would go with the citica, curado, or revo. Had the Patriarch and never really cared for it. I did have the narrow spool and would have much rather tried the wide spool. All of my reels are shimano (1 curado, ,3 citicas, and a saros).
  16. I like to throw a fluke on a keel weighted twist lock hook. I like fishing the flukes weighted to get a faster sink rate.
  17. I thought Flouro sinks and should not be used on topwater (Frogs). I would use heavier braid for frogs, but I bought the line in bulk.
  18. I guess I am starting to listen to the hype. I like the idea of decreased visibility under water.
  19. Right now I use braid on 3 of my reels and mono on one. I have got the itch these days to run fluorocarbon on one of my reels, but I am not sure which one. Here are is a list of my rigs, what do you think? 6'9" Carrot Stix MH F Curado 200E7-->Texas Rig-->30lb Power Pro. I am leaning toward this one. 7' Powell MH XF Citica 200E-->Light Jigs and Senkos-->30lb Power Pro 7' Rodsmiths H F Citica 200E-->Frogs and Heavy Jigs-->30lb Power Pro 6'8" Powell M Mod Citica 200E-->Cranks-->14lb Big Game I am slightly concerned about losing some sensitivity with my texas rig rod, but I am not sure if this will happen or not. What do you think? Thanks for the help.
  20. I use the Curado E7. I like the high speed to pick up line before I set the hook, but I really like how this rod feels in my palm.
  21. I love the E and thought the D was okay. I have 3 of them and one curado. Clearly they are not as good as the curado, but for the price they cannot be beat. This is the only baitcaster I will buy for awhile.
  22. Went back to cabelas today and they gave me store credit for the rod because they did not have it in stock. The lady at customer service said that a bunch of the manufactures (kistler, carrot stix, st. croix, and a few others) are no longer doing the over the counter warranty with cabelas. All customers have to deal with the manufacturer for replacing broken rods.
  23. I could not agree more. Both of these are unbelievable rods for the price. I have the Rodsmith that is MH 3/8-1 oz. I find it to be very heavy. A good "all-around" rod would be the model that is a step down weight wise.
  24. Just broke one today on a hookset > I am taking it back to cabelas.
  25. I use little tube jigs on a 1/16oz jig head under a cork.
