  1. I like this bag http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10203083_999043014_100000000_999043012_100-22-2
  2. I have the bag pictured in the bottom of your post. It is too big. You can't fit it in a storage box. I bought a smaller one this year, and it fits in all but the smallest of storage boxes.
  3. Congratulations on being an Eagle Scout. I have been a Boy Scout leader for 14 years so I know what an accomplishment that is and how hard you have to work to get there. You don't seem like someone that is looking for a hand out, and I was kind of upset that someone would have a problem with scouts raising money.
  4. Do you really have a problem with youth organizations like Scouts raising money?
  5. If your club is a BASS Federation Nation club your club has $1,000,000 liability insurance. I assume TBF has a similar program, but I do not know.
  6. My only problem with BPS stores is that the closest one is over 3 hours away. I do like visiting them when I am near one. It is nice to see the items in person.
  7. My club located out of Rutland, VT is looking for new members for the coming season. We are a small club, just 16 members that focuses on friendly competition and learning. We will accept both boaters and non-boaters. If interested please send me a PM or e-mail me: brockq@vtbassfednation.com Brock Quesnel President Rutland B.A.S.S.
  8. 7 lbs 7 oz my first drop shot fish caught on 6 lbs test. Suddenly I became a huge fan of drop-shotting
  9. x2 They go off and on very quickly. I have brought 7 or 8 rods with no problems using these.
  10. I have never been there before. I am hoping to get down there at least once before the tournament, just to try and get to know the area a little bit.
  11. I should have voted both, the wife does not mind the bait monkey. I get in trouble when it is the bait gorillia
  12. I don't have any choice, the Eastern Divisional is on Candlewood next year and I made our state team. I hope your sales tax is a little lower than it was in Canada last year.
  13. If you are really looking for LMB, then the southern end of the lake, south of the Crown Point Bridge is your best bet. In the Burlington area, you would need to run a long way either north or south to find good LMB action. If you stayed where I suggested, your Mrs. would have about a 45 minute drive to the Burlington area, and you would be in LMB territory. If you want to stay up that way there are several hotels. I know the southern end of the lake much better, so I can't give you a great deal of information for the northern end, sorry.
  14. This is a good place to stay, it is just south of the Crown Point Bridge in Addison, VT. Here is a link: http://www.sportsmanccs.com/ You can get your fishing license on-line at: http://www.vtfishandwildlife.com/buylicense.cfm As far as up to date fishing tips go, I can't help you out much. I have not been out on Champlain in 4 weeks :'(. I probably don't stand a chance in the open tournament I am fishing in, but it is a great reason to get out and fish. If you have any questions send me a PM
  15. Yes, a VT license will cover you for almost all of the lake. Unless you go all the way down to South Bay in Whitehall, NY. You also can not fish up the rivers on the NY side with a VT license. The tournament is out of Chimney Point in Addison, VT. (the launch under the Crown Point Bridge)
  16. Does that mean the fishing is going to be twice as good ;D
  17. My club, Rutland BASS, will be hosting an open team tournament on Saturday October 3rd 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Chimney Point access on Lake Champlain in Addison, VT. The entry fee is $50 per team including a $10 lunker pool. The pay out is going to be 75% with the top four teams getting paid regardless of the number of entries. For a copy of the rules and the entry form please follow the link to our club web site or send me a PM with your e-mail address and I will send them to you directly. http://rutlandbass.50webs.com/news.html I hope I get the chance to meet some of you there.
  18. Who ever said find a Wal-Mart parking lot and sleep, was right on. It won't cost you a penny, and believe me falling to sleep at the wheel could cost you much more. I speak from experience. When I was younger and dumber, well at least younger I had to work the night before an all day (from sun up to sun down) fishing derby. I got about 3 hours of sleep, then fished all day in the hot sun. Then being young, I drove to see my girlfriend (now wife of 15 years). She tried to convince me to sleep on the couch, but no, I had to work the next morning so I drove home. Fell to sleep about 1/2 way there and totaled my car. Thank God I did not get hurt, or much worse hurt someone else by my stupidity. There are ways to get by on the cheap, please please try and get some sleep. As much fun as tournament fishing is, it is not worth getting in an accident over. I have never met a fish worth dying for.
  19. It depends on several factors. Our club is small, only 19 members, but we are only 3 years old. We are very open for new members. If they are just a small club, they may not want to grow. The only way you will find out is to contact the club.
  20. Well I did terrible, I finished 92nd out of 96. I did catch some great fish in practice including my new personal best LMB. 7 lbs 7 oz LMB on a drop shot with 6 lbs test in 22' of water.
  21. I have a friend who is a biologist with our fish and game department. He sent me a study a little while ago with some average age for certain size fish in the Northeast. A fish of that size is more likely to be 15 years old. It does depend a great deal on the available forage, but it is certainly a very old fish.
  22. It is about a 10 drive from here. Not really looking forward to that part.
  23. The tournament does not start until July 22nd. It is a 3 day tournament. I leave this Wednesday night. I was not going to leave until Saturday, but the guy I am riding with wants to go earlier. Two extra days of fishing 8-)
  24. Thanks for the tip Tin. I just talked to someone that fished up there and said the smallies were still on beds. I am heading up on Wednesday night with one of the boaters. It will be interesting to see where the fish are.
  25. Bummer, at least you got some good pictures though
