Potomac Update?
Heading to the Potomac this weekend. Was wondering if anyone could fill me in on the water conditions and maybe share a few areas/techniques to try. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! PS: launching from Indianhead (Matawoman).

Bacon Rind By Gambler?
Davey Hite won the 1999 Classic on those! I bought two packs right afterwards. They were ok. Great tail action.

How Long Before You Change It Up????
I asked this same question last year in the Tournament forum: How Lon before you switch techniques? For me, it's 30-45 min. If you can't get a bite in that amount of time, you're doing it wrong. It can be something as simple as switching colors, or something big like doing a whole new technique.

I Pulled The Trigger On The Lew's!
That's a great price! I own five of them. They're the best performers for the money, IMHO. Congrats!

Need Help Deciding Between Two Reels
Lews. It's lighter, smaller profile, all around great reel, and you can buy it for $80 on eBay. I'd go that route.
-
Good Crankbait Reel
Lews speed spool: $80 shipped from eBay. It comes in 5.4 right handed.

Best Duckett For 'traps In Grass?
I want to buy a better Duckett rod for traps in grass. I have a 7' Medium cranking rod, and its a great rod, but I think I want something with a little more backbone. I was looking at the White Ice 7'4" Medium cranking rod; figuring I could put a 6.4: Lews TP on it and 15lb test and use that for traps. The extra length would help to rip it out. Plus, it would double as a great Deep Cranking stick! Any thoughts? PS: Heart is set on Duckett, no other brand recommendations, please. Thanks!

6-Cylinder Tow Vehicles
My girlfriend is looking to lease a new vehicle, and she wants an SUV. Soooooo, I'm trying to "help" her find a suitable vehicle that could maaaaaaaaaaybe tow a small glass boat..... I'm a good man. So, I'm reaching out for advice on the most reliable and capable brands of small SUV. 3.0-3.5L V6, tow capacity of 5k lb minimum. Does anyone tow with something like this? I've seen people towing with them before. Just looking for reliable brands/models. Thanks!

Powell Guys
The answer to any Powell question is always: "Duckett".

Late Spawn In Jersey?
I grew up in northern NJ and remember catching bedding fish in late May/early June. I think you'll be fine. Water here in south pa is in the low 50's. Were on schedule.

Aragon Crankbait
I really like the River2Sea V-Crank and V-Wake. Check them out as well; a little more affordable and fish catching machines!

Duckett
I have seven Ducketts; I'm a bit of a fan.

River2Sea Spittin' Wa Frog
Indeed it does! It's a great frog; walks as well as it chugs. It's my go to now. Has bigger hooks than other popping frogs, which aids in it's awesome hookup ratio.

Topwater Rod
Duckett ghost 6'10" medium.

Testimonial For Stratos Durability
I'm not affiliated with Stratos at all, and have never owned one (or any bass boat for that matter). But I wanted to share this story with you all; I think you'll benefit from it: It was fall of 2012; my local club had a tournament on the Pocomoke River in southern MD. It's a very narrow tidal river that is nothing but constant "s" turns. One of the guys in my club, Tim, was running his mid-90's Stratos full speed between spots. It was afternoon, and the sun was high. He came around one turn and the sunlight blinded him. It blinded him just enough where he couldn't see the permanent duck blind in front of him. By the time he did, it was too late. We all heard the hit. The collision of tree trunk and fiberglass at 50mph. Some boats immediately rushed to the scene. Meraculously, he and his co-angler, despite cracking the windshields off with their faces, we ok! Shaken but alive, their boat was towed to the ramp where they recovered for a while. Incredibly, as we sat there at the ramp, we all noticed his Startos had huge cracks along the impact area, drivers side console. But wouldn't you know, the boat still floated! After 20 minutes of so, Tim declares, "To hell with it, I came here to fish!" He and his coangler got back in the damaged boat, dropped the trolling motor, and finished out the tournament. The boat has since been patched, and still floats to this day. He uses it in a few electric only lakes around us. Many lessons learned that day: always wear your life jacket, beware of sun glare, take turns slowly, and when buying a bass boat; consider a Stratos! Thanks for reading! Tight lines!

Best Lure/technique To Use As Soon As Ice Melts
Thats a VERY open ended question, as you'll see with the million different responses you'll get. Ice melted here (Philly area) within the past few days. I'm going to do the following: 1) Find shallow grass and toss a River2Sea Tungsten Vibe in red. Rip it out, let it fall. 2) Find a 45* sloping bank with gravel or rock on it and toss either a R2S Trophy Minnow in Bluegill or throw a balsa crankbait (DT6/10, Shad Rap) in a craw pattern. 3) Drag a jig in channels. Good luck to you!

Mh- Moderate For A Swim Jig
I think moderate is too limp. I throw northern swim jigs and I toss them on a medium, fast Duckett. Same rod I throw jerk baits on.
