  1. I replace all my hooks anyway. Some of the lures don't come with hooks, which I prefer. I'm just concerned about putting my personal information out there, especially to a Chinese firm...
  2. While on Facebook, I saw an ad for wLure. Apparently, a Chinese mass lure manufacturer with a house in the US. Looks like they make baits very similar to offerings from Koppers, Yo-Zuri, Sebile, and some others. Dirt cheap prices AND free shipping? I'm not buying it.... has anyone done business with these guys?
  3. I have seen some anglers directly lie. What seems to be more common is anglers being overly vague. Here are two examples from KVD: 1) Diring the MLF event at Amostad, he destroyed the field on a Megabass v110 the first or second day. He also used a series 5, 5xd and 6xd. After the round was over, he talked about his gear. Holding up four rods, he named each crank bait by model, but when the jerk bait came around, he just called it a "jerk bait", not a vision 110. 2) during his first Kentucky lake win in the late 2000's, I watched him toss around a series 6 and 5 (this was before the XD series came to market). However, watching him fish, I noticed he boated a few on a pearl white crank bait with reflective sides, but it was a different shape than the elongated 6 or 5. The bill was horizontal out of the body. The camera man went in for a close up, and low and behold, it was a Fat Free Shad BDS8. He didn't lie, but he didn't credit his OLD sponsor either. But be honest, if you we're fishing to pay pay your bills, you would use whatever it took to win. Wouldn't you?
  4. This is happening to one of my Gen3 STX's.... I'm not buying any more Revos.
  5. To each his own. It's my favorite flipping bait! It has great action. I like any green pumpkin derivative, but my favorite color is Big Texan.
  6. Everything!!!!! Here, I'll start a list for you: -Strike King -Berkley -Lews -Powell -Rapala -Storm -Gamakatsu -Spro -VMC -Bomber -Any new/startup company that offers something innovative. That's my list! Please send pics and updates on what's new for each of these companies! Thanks!!!
  7. Let me know how those work for you! I'm very curious!
  8. I just tie the skirt on with floral wire, like wire-tying a jig skirt. No fuss, and it will NEVER come undone. You can buy 100 yards of floral wire for about $3 at any crafts store.
  9. I prefer a Powell Endurance 7'1" MLEF Spinning rod. I use a drop shot instead of a Carolina rig a lot of the time. I cast it and drag it. That's why I like the 7'1" length. However, I also use hooks as small as #6-#1, so the light tip is imperative.
  10. I cast my scatter cranks on 15lb seasguar Fluoro on a Lews TP and I can cast one about 35 yards. But I usually only cast short range. Works fine to me.
  11. Powell. Though both are good sticks.
  12. I've tried it. I get a lot of short strikes. My guess is that they're hitting the blade. Maybe it's just me...
  13. Watch the MLF event on Amistad. KVD puts on a clinic with a Vision 110. Also on the NY event, Ike was using an original chatter bait, but credited the Molix Lover for his fish.... It was obviously not a Molix bait...
  14. I heard Duckett is also working on reels, but I think that's gonna be ICAST 2014.
  15. I'm just saying, check the spool race for liquid first...
  16. Before you contact anyone, take the sideplate off, revove the spool, and check the spool race (the track that the spool spins on) ans the spool itslef for oil/water/liquid. It SOUNDS like you may have water or oil on the spool race, which is not conducive to casting. Also, you may have over-oiled the bearings. I had a Gen2 Revo Premier that had the same issue. 60 seconds and a q-tip and it was fixed. Try it.
  17. I always check bass tackle depot. They seem to have the biggest discount (25%). However, you might have to deal with inventory issues and backorders.
  18. I believe it's 90 days. This bugs a lot of people. But I have purchased all of them before. Personally, I think it's well worth it. What separates MLF from other TV shows is thy you actually get to watch the birth of a pattern by the pros. That's worth every penny to me. Just make sure you buy the series when you have time to watch them all. I usually binge watch all the episodes in a row!
  19. I think the aluminum is more for balance.
  20. Personally, I always thought they were in the "high-end" arena. There's more to a rod's classification than price. Still, this rod is a touch out of my price range.
  21. WANT! NOW! OOOOOHHHHHH MMMMMAAAANNNNN!!!!! That bait monkey just turned into a bait gorilla!
  22. I see your logic. If you're casting a reeling a bait in, like a spinnerbait or crankbait, then yes, you're right. However, what about techniques where there is a lot of slack in the line? Flipping/pitching, worms, etc. The more slack you can pick-up per turn, then better in those situations... It has its place, thats all I'm saying..... with that said: No, I'm not buying one.
  23. BOOYAH seems to be releasing an umbrella rig designed for hardbaits.... Also, Megastrike has shakee heads with EWG hooks. This is just flat out exciting!
  24. I heard that they're are largemouth, smallmouth and peacocks in Hawaii. Has anyone chased all three there? How's the fishing? How does it compare to main-land fishing?
