Hey Burley!
Lots of people have been making less of a showing. I read way more than I post any more and I've noticed a bunch of old timers dropping off.

fishing in wv
Not many "Great" lakes down here, but if your in the area. Stonewall, Summersville (after the water has dropped), Bluestone, East Lynn, Burnsville, Woodrum (10hp max), all offer descent autumn fishing. You could load that Allison in the Kanawha River and open it up, but the fishing is pretty much a dink fest.

New Rods Coming From EJTAYLOR
Beautiful rods, great craftsmanship as always. Congrats to you both! Those castaway blanks are one of the best values you can find among est quality blanks. They're really really nice.

That sells it for me, anything over 4ft and I'm off the lake any how. 6ft rollers are enough to surf on....

"Bass Cat Puma/Cougar: Great boats but you pay for it. They are fast, handle the brutal stuff well but every time you come down off a big wave you feel your spine compress and the sound of the boat wanting to crack in half. Their seats are almost as bad as Tritons and are not comfy at all. But they are very fast and up until about the 4 footers they give a great ride. My favorite feature is the net compartment in the front deck. But it seems all of them have livewell issues after a couple years." Only the Puma's have net storage up front, the cougars do not.

I'm buying a boat, so in doing my research I did drive each boat on the same body of water. The puma and cougar are the same length, based on the year your looking at there are differences in the hull design and deck layout (FTD). The puma is noted to handle rough water a bit better, while the cougar is a tad faster. Both boats are reputed as stable rides in rough water. You can get the PUMA in the FTD layout, which gives you the handling of the classic puma hull, but the deck layout of the cougar FTD, which many prefer. Regardless of what you choose, BassCat, Champion, Ranger, etc... all rigs are fantastic boats.

I've ridden in all 3 this past summer. In my opinion, the Basscat and Champions were hands down the best rides. This was on Lake Erie, from 2 to 4 ft swells.

Which engine? Mercury Optimax or Evinrude E-tech?
This is going to be largely opinion based. I've been researching and driving boats for most of the summer, and I personally feel either engine is up to par, given its properly taken care of. Lots of folks suggest making your selection based on the support shops you have nerby. My personal choice has been narrowed to a Merc xs for various reasons, but I really wouldn't hesitate to drive a boat rigged with an Rude.

Absolutely not! We're having a discussion, so no apologies are in order... the goal is to get Kelley back on BR, regardless of the fix!

Stratos trolling motor tray
I did it to a 2000 skeeter, and there is an OMG what did I just do factor. But it was the single greatest mod I ever put on that boat. I'll never go without one again.

Yeah, for good measure I uninstalled and reinstalled the tcp/ip stack, flushed the dns cache, released, renewed, etc.... I used teamviewer to remote onto his pc, so I had direct access. I'm a software engineer by trade, going on 14 years. I've worked for the DOD, Nationwide, and a couple of other large firms throughout the mid west. I've written a slew of web based applications in which literally thousands of users (sometimes 100k's), typically underwriter/legal types, need to submit or upload various forms of data. I've dealt with issues just like this on a bunch of different occasions, and typically when we get down to this level of detail, its an ISP related issue or an issue being dodged by an internal IT guy. In this case I think we can deduct the internal IT guy. I have been wrong and I do over look things. Lets hope there is something obvious I've missed!

Valid suggestion, but I was sitting on the modem, which would have eliminated their "local" network equipment. I personally think the problem is one of 1) Your local ISP's Primary DNS Server is hosed. This would cause issue with all their customer base. 2) Your modem isn't properly pulling DNS entries from your ISP's DHCP servers, which would cause problems specifically for you not necessarily anyone else. It doesn't sound like the tech has found a problem. So assume I"m either wrong, or the tech is not aware of, or knows how to fix the core issue.

Doing an nslookup on any site from his home pc, his primary DNS would fail. His home router is pulling an invalid DNS record from his DSL modem. Current theory is his DSL modem has incorrect DNS settings, as the primary record fails 100% of the time, while the secondary will randomly work. A tracert to the BR site will usually timeout on most hops, while a tracert to google will at times work and at other times fail. Connecting the PC directly to the modem does not resolve the issue, so I've suggested they ask their ISP to refresh their modem settings, or have the modem replaced entirely. I could sit on the modem and hit the BR host directly and lose almost 70% of the test packets being sent. I can sit here at work, pure fiber, and the only place I ever see packets being dropped are once I'm in the server farm at the *.theplanet.com

Best line for soft plastic fishing...?
Yo zuri is good stuff, I would suspect you had a something out of the norm happen. I wouldn't write the entire line off. Give it another shot, to many people here with positive feedback to shrug off a single bad experience.

HELP GEEKS!!!!!
On an XP machine.. click start -> Run -> type CMD You'll get a command window pop up, type in tracert www.bassresource.com After all hops are complete, right click the window, choose select all, and send/paste that info in a PM to me. It will at least show us where/if you have a network related issue...

jitterbug repaints
I've fished with SMfisher on the new during the night.... those "purty" jitterbugs are gonna get hammered real soon. He catches a bunch of stud river smallmouth down there, throwing pretty much nothing but those bugs... Wait for pics...

Left handed, right handed, what the heck?
I forced my self to adapt to a left hand retrieve years ago, and I've never had regrets that I did. My personal opinion and reasoning has been stated by others. I prefer to play my fish, work my chosen bait, cast, etc.. with my dominant hand/arm. I also feel not changing hands to reel gives me a (small) time savings in making repeat casts/flips. I also like being able to reel both spinning and bait casters with the same hand. Its a personal opinion and selection, and I have zero regrets about my mine.

Traditional Jig & Pig
