Need Advice on Tow Rope
I use a rock climbing rope. Specifically, this one: https://amzn.to/3xBYVCN in the 64' length. It's rated for 3,300 pounds, and has locking hooks on each end (very important for rough water). I use this same rope for launching the boat alone.

Sponsorship tips from a sponsor (women included)
There's a lot of companies that will sponsor women of all ages. You just have to assert yourself and ask. I recommend starting with companies who's products you already use and would recommend to a friend. That should be a pretty long list; and if you get a few to sponsor you, that's all you need. Also, tap into the Lady Bass Anglers Association (https://www.ladybassanglers.com/) It's a women's tournament circuit that you can join - not necessarily to fish their tournaments, but expand your network and learn from the lady pros that already have sponsorships. Hope that helps!

#$&@! Hotel Guest
Growing pains. Keep enforcing the policies, and it WILL get better. Trust me. Cleaning out the unwantables is an unpleasant but necessary task to take your hotel to the next level. Trust me, those people will run to their friends and tell them to never visit your place again, thinking they're hurting your business. Good! That's what you want! Not only to keep those kind of people away, but to spread word-of-mouth that your hotel is NOT a place to screw around. Believe me, people hearing that you're enforcing policies (the horror!) will either steer clear of you, or come running to you. Both accomplish exactly what you want. Stay the course. It WILL get better.

Ford Explorer towing
I have a 2018 F-150 with a 6-cyl 3.5L ecoboost engine. It has more horsepower and torque than my previous V-10, and my gas mileage averages 19mpg (not towing) compared to 9mpg. It tows like a beast. Much better than my V-10 ever did. Handles well and doesn't have any issues pulling over mountain passes. The 10 speed is smooth and doesn't "hunt". 32K miles on it so far without any problems.

Randy Blaukat-why the haters?
Too much contrived drama. Fishing is supposed to be fun and relaxing. Unsubbed from his channel and all his social channels too.

Hank Cherry
Congrats to Hank. Back-to-back championships is an incredible feat. But I need to give a shout out to my buddy Justin Kerr for taking 4th in his first Classic appearance. It's been a long, hard road buddy, and you showed the world you belong there. Well done!

Casting reel for the inexperienced
- Hook Emergency
Ya, Google sends me flag notifications about "blood, gore, and graphic" images/videos for posts like these. But people need to know about this, so Google needs to know the difference between egregious gore and medical advice. OH, sorry, tangent airlines now departing. NSFW flag...I'll work on it.- Always pay attention to where you're going
Always be prepared for the unthinkable.- Classic under rain delay
Keep an eye on Justin Kerr guys. Not only is he a good buddy of mine (fished with him several times), but he's a great stick. He's dominated multiple western circuits, including FLW. This is his first Classic and is a dark horse because of it. Plus he's from the west. The announcers haven't even mentioned his name. But I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. He was 22nd yesterday and is currently 7th.- Drop shot
Shake the bait, not the weight. Even then, shaking is often too much movement. Here's a video on how to do it:- Tight Line or Slack Line hookset?
Yes, the dropshot/splitshot hook set is different:- Tight Line or Slack Line hookset?
I replied "Slack line", but really it's more of a "somewhere in between". My hooksets on T-rigs, weightless plastics, and Jigs are "whip" action - quickly lower the rod while reeling and snap it back in one, very quick motion...like cracking a whip. Faster moving baits like cranks, buzzbaits and spinnerbaits are tight line hooksets. Finesse is entirely different. Sometimes the line is tight, other times it's slack, but every time it's a "reel set", which is basically reeling fast while pulling back. So it's not a traditional hookset. Here's a video showing the "cracking the whip" hookset I mentioned:- Bass falling
I caught a 4-pounder and it flailed so hard in my hands I dropped it. It fell about 3', landing square on its side on the deck of my boat. I thought it was fine and released it. Then I saw it couldn't dive down. It struggled on the surface, but couldn't go down. So I grabbed him and put him in my livewell to recover. He didn't. Autopsy revealed he bled to death internally. Could have been from the fall. Could have been from the fight. Or both. But I got to enjoy a rare bass supper that evening!- Bass falling
Ok guys, enough with the comic relief. The guy is asking a legit question, so let's help him out. Not sure what you mean by this, but it depends on how hard he hit the rock, and what part of him hit it. Can you provide more detail?- Your favorite polarized sunglasses?
