Yup, urban legend. I did a quick search and found no credible evidence this ever actually occurred, but its been shared all over Facebook for years. The chemical probably is, but the propellant isn't. Just replace it with a new one and you're good to go.

So this is one of the reasons why I don't post about rumors I hear about. 3 pages of speculation with no evidence the rumor even has merit. Meanwhile, some folks are panic-buying Zoom products now. Another problem with "leaking" information, is that sometimes it turns out not to be true, thus damaging the credibility of the person posting about it. I don't want to wear the gossip label, thank you very much. So that's why you don't seem me giving you guys "intel" about speculations and side-conversations I often hear about. As with any industry, there's a lot of that in the fishing industry too.

Yes, you can buy 3rd party, unlock it, and use your current sim card (keep the same number). The ATT store can do it, but I suggest you go to an ATT corp owned store rather than an "authorized dealer". The corp stores have better training for their employees, who can handle uncommon transactions such as yours.

Nah, I'm not going to be the one that turns a (hopefully) temporary glitch into a rumor-fueled self-fulfilling prophecy. If it happens, then I'll reference my post so you know what I was talking about. My point was that things could be worse, so try to be happy with what you have now, and hope it improves soon.
