  2. Here's a video that goes into detail about fish care in the livewell: http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/fish-care-in-the-livewell.html and here's an article about fish care during the summer http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/handling_summer_bass.html
  3. I do it all the time. They're talking about big saltwater hooks. You're fine.
  4. Will it harm them? Take a look at this and then tell us your conclusions: http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/skinny-fish.html
  5. Here ya go! http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/how-to-use-baitcaster.html
  6. My hull likes the dead-center prop about 2 3//4" below the hull. One of the indications it's too low is if you get chine-walk at the top end. While not the only cause of chine-walk, you can reduce it by raising the motor. However, as you raise the motor, it gets harder to steer. So find a happy medium that your comfortable with. Rooster tail has nothing to do with motor height. A big rooster tail means it's over-trimmed...a problem with the operator, not the boat set up. If you're over-trimmed, you won't get max speed or good boat control. Optimal trim setting is where your rooster tail is slightly higher than the height of your motor.
  7. Take out as much as you think you should, then double it. No joke. Here's more detailed information: http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/small-bass-overcrowding http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/overpopulated-bass.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/big_bass_ponds.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/slot.html http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/lake-limits-fish.html
  8. I check EVERY hook before I use them. And if they need sharpening, so be it. Even new ones. I'm also constantly checking my hook points while I'm fishing, and touching up as I go. I'm very diligent about that.
  9. Here's the info you need... http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/126630-pasting-pictures/ It's a sticky at the top of this forum. It's also in the FAQ's.
  10. I always sharpen them. Usually the only time I replace them is when I break off a lure, or bend a hook way out of whack. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/hook-sharpen.html
  11. So if somebody uses a $600+ fishing reel, should they only be permitted to fish "in their own class", away from the anglers with $125 reels? Or anglers with expensive rods vs. inexpensive rods? Point is, the same argument could be had for anything.
  12. Annually. Been doing it that way for over 3 decades.
  13. The Mat Daddy has an extra guide near the reel handle. This allows you to grab the line ahead of it, thus preventing the line from wrapping up in your reel handle. 15. The Okuma Mat Daddy is a beast of a rod at a VERY reasonable price. It has features and components seen on expensive gear, without the high price. Seriously, it's a bargain. Check it out! http://www.okumafishing.com/product/view/rods/tournament-bass/scott-martin-s-tournament-concept-tcs-rods
  16. Have you tried this swimbait yet? It has a realistic action that big fish just can't resist! Check it out. http://www.savagegear-usa.com/product/view/lures/new-for-2014/3d-line-thru-swimbait

  22. Distance is rarely a goal in bass fishing. Yes, there are some exceptions (fan casting a flat is one), so don't jump on me and use an exception as an example of how wrong I am. I'm saying as a general rule, distance shouldn't be your goal. Accuracy should be.

iCast is once a year. Last one was in July 2013 in Las Vegas.

  25. I have not had any encounters, other than a few questionable late night human-like beings at some dance clubs I frequented in my youth! However I do have some friends that are convinced they've had actual encounters. And there's even one person on this message board that told me of a bone-chilling experience he had years ago, although it wasn't in the PNW.
