It actually was but a brief minute in his young life The Panthers and the Left wanted him to embrace politcis and be part of the "revolution" Jimiwas more hipo to the history and the livesd of many African American musicians than any of the people tryint to push him in that direction. The panthers were trying to shake him down and trying to get him to play wiuth all black musicians. Poltics also came and went in his music Jimi would never be cornered as being any one thing, he was proud of his service in the Army, and he was confused as we all were watching the National Guard turning on American Kids, at home. This is one of the things that killed him and tourted him.He was all of these things and none of these things, Look for Jimi in his music and what he wrote. I have a TV inerview where a President is saying " I did not sleep with that woman!" Makes for good TV but that werent the truth either, His music was passionate, way beyond it's time and there is no use in trying to explain it to folks who just read about it anyway 8-)

I remeber when they were uspet that Miles Davis was dissing his audience because he was playing with his back turned to them. Miles was actually rebelling against the hype his label was dishing out and was making a statement that the music was more important then he was as a "star" good to see Rolling Stone up on that one! Let us not forget the Hendrix expert got in some hot water when the Hard Rock Cafe opened in NY> HE sold them one of Jimi's authentic Strats for 10 G's. It was a beautiful left handed blue strat. JIMI ONLY PLAYED RIGHT HANDED STARTS, upside down and revesed stringed b/c they only made righty strats in those days. Muddy if you are from Brooklyn do you remember the Brennan and Carr on Nostrand Ave in Sheepshead Bay? The sandwich you are describing is exactly what they serve there and it is the best roast beef sandwich bar none! It is still there! Roast beef, broth and french fries. Matt I would not dare go against your knowledge and experience, This is something that will have to playt out for me , as my time on the water grows. I wonder how people,like pros who fish all over in different bodies of water,tidal, stained, and clear feel about this. My experience in limited mostly in the area of NY,NJ and PA, I am curious as to how people who travel about do. I still think the idustry is driven by convincing a lot of folks that they need equipment such as 500 dollar reels, and rods and very expensive baits to catch a fish without a whole lotta brains. People Like Catt,Fishfor dollars,Fourbizzle and Fish Chris have made it abundantly clear that most people are not catching big fish consitently and by design, because they are fishing where they ain't, I would say where I fish if there are 60 boats on the lake less than 10 of us are fishing away from the shore.Catt has stated the only lure a bass can't get conditioned to is a worm. And both his wieght and totals are respectable. Again he fishes one body of water primarly. What he has written about can be used on my lake by using his info as a starting platform. Those wake baits LBH is making, even the prototype, primative versions seem to have taken quite a few good fish. The videos he put up, show he really captured the motion and profile of something injured and struggeling on top of the water he was fsihing, I did not see the paint up close. Like I said it seems finding them and using the right action to convince them an easy meal has presented itself seems to be the key. I am a patinet guy and I take notes, who knows how this will turn out for me

He spoke about Franis Scott Keyes getting inspired by watching FT.Henry under fire, Jimmi was relating to that as another generation of Americans were under fire. He was also feeling the effects of the race riots going on and American National Guards troops being deployed on home soil, which was a somewhat new eperience. Jimmi was doing what a lot of Jazz musicans did at the time they told thier stories with music, not lyrics. Francis Scott Keyes was a poet so he used words and music.Jimi was a musician so he used notes to capture the moment. Jimis song of out right protest would come a year later in the form of Machine Gun. That site is not owned by Jimie's dad or the James Family( His mother's name) the only thing official about it is they say it is :-? I saw Jimi many times, he played under the name Jimi James at first, he was from Seattle. He played in Ike and Tina Turners Band,Little Richards Band and the Isley Brothers. Hendrix and Dylan were very much alike, the industry was trying to sell Hendrix as the Phycadelic King and Dylan as the radical poet, both men writing and recording blocks from each other were adamanent that they wrote what was right in front of them, and that included the whole life experience from the times. Hey fellas; I see a few guys here saying they use braid for cranking. I paid a lot of attention to devolping better crank bait skills this year. I read 3 articles from Clunn,Fritts and Iconelli , they all talked about using the smallest diameter mono that the situation called for. I also bought a Rapala DT kit, with a DVD and that DVD had varios suggestions , especially using mono for anything with treble hooks. What do you fellas use, as I had excellent reults using mono?

Fritts,Clunn and Iconelli all recomend Mono for cranks, I read articles by all 3 this year as I charged head on with my crank bait fishing this year. All three pointed out the smallest diameter mono, was essential for good hook ups, becuase of the trebels. Fritts also downsized his hooks on some of the baits he uses.

No actually it was inspired when he was in the US Army. On some of his parashute jumps, live rounds were fired, and he stated that is where he got the idea to bend the notes , and play THE Star Spangled Bannner as he did to mimic the falling and parashuting soldiers dropping through live ammunition.

I have been to easily a thousand baseball games in my life, many with my Dad before he died. HE taught me to stand, put your hand over your heart and sing the national anthem with pride. Did it then , still do and I suck as a singer, The song is sung as a tradtion to celbrate our national past time, not for a grammy award. IF she should go to jail, I should get the chair : It happens to be a very difficult song to sing, and she did her best.

That is the only time I have a strong prefrence for BLACK, as they can see it better at night.

Hey Fellas: Looking over my notes and such from the past year. I caught condsiderably less bass, but the avg fish was larger. I did a lot of experimenting this year, more jigs, topwater, smaller wake baits and cranking. If I got bored I threw *** Trik Ttiks and Brush Bugs as they always work for me. I saw a reply form Sam to a guy who bought some Shad Swim baits and Sam said they will work if your lake has Shad. I respect and have used his reccomendations with great success I HAVE SOME EVIDENCE IN MY LOGS THAT NOT MATCHING THE HATCH MAY NOT MAKE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE On a trip with SPEEDBEAD onto the Chunk, he caught a few fish using an Auroa/Silver colored Swim Bait. 2 weeks later fishing with my friend Dan, he threw a simialr hard bodies swim bait and we were fishing sundown ON A LAKE THAT HAS NO TROUT IN IT and caught 6 beautiful bass on a RAINBOW TROUT painted swim bait, he did fish them slower than SPEEDBEAD. On a small Municpal lake LAKE IRENE in Hazleton PA, there are trout, and fall fish and the bass gourge them selves on them My best bait on that lake 5/8 BLACK JITTERBUG On a stip pit pond loaded with crawfish, the best bait all summer long was not crawfish in color but a RAPALA DT, in BLUEGILL Why would 6.5 inch *** Brush Bugs catch fish up the wazoo around here when there is nothing that looks like them and I have never had a fish spit out a lizard or salamander hwne hooked as they do with crawfish,minnows and bream? I am thinking about going to a Swimbait/Wakebait set up so here is my question Is color ( mathcing the hatch) less imprtant than spped of retrieve and trying to duplicate a dying or hurt meal for a feeding bass to wack. I am tending to think, but do not want to jump to conclusions that for agressively feeding bass, if it is an easy enough target to hit and you have found the fish that are feeding than color is not as important as convincing a bass that this is a nice easy meal to hit.

Could be a couple of things I have experienced and one you have to ask others about. 1. Check and see that it is running true, you may need to change the eyelete angle in fornt. 2. Make sure when casting that the front trebele is not catching onto your line. 3. If you are cranking in water under 6 ft and bouncing it off structure, it can push the bait sideways. If deeper check #1 you may need to tune it 4. Even with a 5.3:1( I use a Pflueger Trion lpns) you can retrieve certain cranks too fast and it can cause them to not run right. This is especially true with the Rapala DT's 5. Do not hold your rod sidearm on the retrieve, I hold mine almost straight up, helps the lips dig in! Go to the side slightly with a sweeping motion on your hook set 6. The one I am not sure aobut. I use 15# Mono, the stretch is more forgiving on an over anxious hook set, maybe the braid has some issues, but I have no experience cranking with braid, maybe someone else can chime in on this one PS Sam said most of this already , and I got some of these tips from older threads he posted in I would read his post very carefully. Then go to the articles on this site 8-)
