  1. Job Corps is the last of the Great Society programs, left over from LBJ. It is a program for 1.Poverty Level Students , that have failed in tradtional settings. We deal with kids and young adults between the ages of 16 to 24, unless the person is covered by the American Disabilities Act. Our studnets by enlarge ARE NOT YOUNG FELONS, a good portion are, it comes with where and how they grew up. Over 70 % are not felons. This is not correctional or judicated in any way. We work by recruitment and through ONE STOPS to steer kids in need of this program to us. Do some judges say :" JOB CORPS OR JAIL" Yes, but that does not come from our end.SO WHOEVER TOLD YOU A KID WAS SENT TO JC because he STOLE 50 cars was full of major bull doo-doo, MAJOR> I have been working here for 12 years and I know our policy backwards and forwards. We have that stigma here in Hazleton and it breaks my heart to be in town and someone will see my Gvt plates and say " Oh you work on the boot farm with the colored kids" We have a lot of misinformed, ignorant and racist people up here in these mountains We provide an enviorment for these kids to get out of harms way, get good housing and nutrion while learning ,many trades ( leaving with certifciates and in the hard trades UNION APPRENTICE CARDS) medical fields, they can get a GED, HS Diploma and thier first 2 years of college in. A few times congress on both sides of the asile has try to shut us down, but the last time they found for every dollar they put in they got 1.61 out because we are so sucessful at what we do. These are kids already disreguarded as usless and bound for the welfare rolls. We get kids jobs, keep them employable and shrink welfare rolls Hey Beast try not to catoragize these kids, how many cars were stolen that year in your area? How many of those cars, were stolen by a Job Corps kid?
  2. I grew up playing stickball and touch football til we dropped, We didnt play Madden all day inside and getting fat. I learned how to play drums , on drums , not pads that could be programmed: if you wanted to learn a lick you had to listen and paly it. I have issues with electronics that that do it for you and we have issues with childhood obesity, non athletic kids and Flashing lights instead of substance. My job has me dealing with these problems all the time . When you sustitute a machine for a human you loose some stuff. The ability for a mentorship between an older person and the youngsteer starting to learn The feeling of the various seasons against your skin: we have kids at Job Corps who refuse to play touch football, because 52 degrees is too cold and THEY DO NOT WANT TO GET DIRTY??/ Welcome to the digital world, this is the downside , yea thats a bargin if it was only 40 bucks :

  5. EXCELLENT!! I thought you were gonna put up one of your ugly and scary trout pictures up
  6. Hey Trippy I started just with T rigs, but i have found the Wacky Rig to be deadly! I use 2/0 black Circle hooks, but I am definitley going to try Waynes deal with the Octupus hooks. I dont like red hooks, because no matter what brand I have tried they wind up to be gold hooks! I use *** Trick Stiks and I just put the hook in the slot. For t Rigs I hook em weightless and my favorite color is Watermellon/purple swirl. For LMB on the Chunk, Wacky Rigged I use the same stick just rig it slighlty to the top of the slot For smallies 4 inch Shimmer Shad, wacky rigged:my hottest smallie bait for this year The thing aobout the t rig vs wacky on my favorite lake is some days the weightless t rig is hot, some days the wacky is the deal. Somedays both work The Trig seems to attract the bigger fish
  7. Paul : I hope we get a chance to fish someday, so you can point out the 150 things I missed. Your attention to detail is amazing! and that's for real, take it to the bank 8-)
  8. In late fall if the pond or lake has turned already: I like to use a 6'6" Cableas Classic UL with a Cabela UL reel. 4# test line #10 or #12 hooks I avoid dead or dying weeds, if it's a warm day you may find some shallow, but I look for deeper holes especially with rocks etc. I use small crawlers or red garden worms If I use a bobber, I use the smallest slip bobber I can get away with and maybe the smallest spilt shot. I prefer no shot as I get bigger gillies when the worm falls slowly Cold water gillie fillets are tasty!
  9. Hey John: I know , just mooking Paul! ;D
  10. I chose baitcating, which I prefer but I have an UL spinning outfit for bluegill and one Med for Bass, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do! 8-)
  11. Hey Paul: How much can you possibly know about fishing in the fall? You live in Colorodo, fall is 2 days long, then it's back to winter
  12. Hey Fellas: This account is 100% TRUTHFUL, the names have been changed to protect the innocent. Last year on a trip to Lake Fork, Long Mike found an inlet that was not on any opf the maps, it just kind of appeared on the way to Little Mustang, we couldn't even find it on the GPS. It was 5am and the mist was thick on the lake. We shut the gas motor off and Mike ( thank God) got on the front and used the trolling motor toget us back there. Wehn we got off the main channel and entered the cove, the temp dropped drastically and we could see our breath it was so cold. Mike turned to me and said " I have a bad feeling about this!' and then we could see it a huge area with at least 100 beds in about 5 ft of water, and there were fat females on at least 1/2 of them. You never saw two fellas get thier baits in the water so fast. Throwing all caution to the wind we just started to work this are. I noticed it first but there was no noise back there, no crickets, no birds, not even the noise of water lapping against the shore. There in the middle of the cove was one of Rick the D*$K's finest rentals WITH NO ONE VISIBLE IN THE BOAT!!!!! We stayed a good distance but close enough to figure out if someone was in the boat. We were both startled when about 4 or 5 feet from the boat there was first a huge swell and then we saw a 7 foot alligator and something so horrible I could not even begin to describe it locked in a death roll and trashing about The Gator and the hiddious beast were fighting over a fish the bloody battle continued on for some 10 minutes, when all of a sudden the alligator was flotaing on its back dead as a door nail and the beast was swiming over to the boat, with the fish in it's mouth. The beast then crawled back onto the boat and Mike nearly wet his pants. I kept my wits about me and got the camera and we have this picture of the horrible and deadly beast with the fish it took from the jaws of this gator. Just as fast the beast started his boat and left the cove, sunlight and warmth was immediatly upon us and there were birds and crickets to be heard. Here is what we saw, maybe some of you Texas Fellas can tell us what this is:

    Hello and
  17. I have both and enjoy both... 6'6'' MH spinning extreme and a 6'6'' M BC Pro Qualifier. There are usually good deals on both during the Spring Classic Hey Big Rick: Same deals in this years Christmas Catalog. I want to get one more, but I am thinking maybe they are going to change them next year and put them on clearance cheaper.
  18. My fishing partner also uses those Eagle Claw hooks , he keeps asking when I am going to break down and ask him for one ;D
  19. 1. Piece of chalk 2. Draw circle on ground 3. put small target inside circle 0r 1. put tire on ground 2. put a can inside the itre When I was a kid we had a lot of fun and learned a lot of skills on no money; which is what most of our family budgets allowed. 99 bucks for a target to practice casting is not a good idea
  20. MPC; if I remember this MARGIANL PROFIT OF CAPITAL? Just hang out here and sooner of later that BS stuff will start flying around
  21. OK just chill out. Put on some Muddy Waters or some Albert Collins and ease on into a groove 8-) Hey bmadd; the McDonalds coffe will keep you up, makes me pee all night! I think it uses us to transport itself around
  22. The sorriest thing I ever did was do what has been stated above. I had the hardest time learning to both bait cast and jig fish, since I have been a member here,I have put considerible time into each and they have become invaluable tools and have made me a much better fisherman. I took the easy way out, and i was catching fish, aquarium sized dinks on the shore. Now My catches while less in numbers have been better fish. Skunked once this summer on a short 2 hour pond/shore trip. Thats pretty good since I fished almost daily! Listen to the fellas on here that know how to fish a technique then start picking thier brains, they will help you. I have found jig fishing, one of the oldest types of fishing is essential and deadly when you learn how to use it.
  23. They work wonders in frozen lakes. Just use a 300lb tungsten bullet sinker pegged with a broom stick. You have to cast it WAY up in the air and make sure that it lands nose down. Fish usually die upon impact and are washed up onto the ice by the tsunami. You may need to upgrade your terminal tackle a bit though. ;D I may need to upgrade my right arm while I am at it Thanks for the morning laugh Brian ;D
  24. SAME HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :o
