Dental question
Three different times when I quit smoking, I ended up starting again because of teeth grinding. I did it so loudly that I woke myself up at nights. It always started right around week 3 or so... Anyway, if you do it when you sleep, you should get a mouthpiece for the night. If you're doing it during the day... I don't know how to help you. Xanax maybe?

Stocks are up!
I remember reading that due to leveraged investments, there was something like $400 trillion in investments based on mortgage bundles that may or may not be worth a dime. I may be off on the exact number, but it was staggeringly high. I remember thinking to myself: "That is more money than actually exists in the world." Once I read that, I decided to bow out from political debates (probably my favorite hobby) about fixing the economy. It's the first time in my life where I realized I was completely ignorant of the situation and it was beyond my capacity to understand it.

Property Managment Rates
Well you have a couple different types of property management. What I was talking about, with the percentages, is this: You own an investment property that you would like rented, but don't really know how to do it. So I do it for you, and a bunch of other people, and I take a percentage of the monthly rent. Another type would be like a big company, that owns a lot of properties (could be houses, apartment complexes, hotels, strip malls, etc...). So this company needs property managers to manage it's assets, so they hire their own people, rather than an outside company. So in that case, the property manager would be a salaried employee within the company. Did I just confuse you more?

Property Managment Rates
10-12% of the monthly rate is what I always charged. Plus a leasing fee when a new tenant moves in, usually 50% of a month's rent. Also, renewal fees when a tenant renews a lease, usually like 10-20%

Good News On Oil
What is the prospectus for how long it will take for this oil to start hitting refineries? Usually takes a couple years, right?

Led Zeppelin
Last week my girlfriend's parents took us to a Led Zeppelin Tribute Band that was playing at the House Of Blues. It wasn't bad, and they sounded just like them, but after a while all the songs started to sound the same...

Stocks are up!
More good news: the housing prices have corrected themselves. 2-3 years ago, the average selling price of an area's home was almost 5x the average income of the area. At most, you want to see something more like 3.5x to be confident that the buyer can afford the home. Average selling prices are now back down to 2.9x the average incomes, right where they should be to indicate that the purchaser can afford the mortgage. Prices should drop a little more, since there is a bit of an oversupply right now, but for the most part the housing issues have bottomed out (at least, as long as no more major bad news comes).

Tobacco user? Prepare to bend over...
If I had a dollar for every time I have said that, I would still be able to afford cigs!

WOW! I Won The Lottery
I just got e-mailed another one today which is particularly relevant and sinister, since many people are job searching these days. It was an e-mail, the 3rd like it, sent to me supposedly from a job board where my resume is posted. Basically, the e-mail offers me a job which I am in no way qualified for, with a ridiculous salary, and asks for a response. I didn't respond, so I'm not sure how they try to get your money, but it's definitely a scam. So for anybody out there who is job searching right now, be very wary of any job offers that you get, especially if it's not a job in your field or one that you haven't applied to. I know that an offer of employment can be hard to pass up, but let's face it, some things are too good to be true.

Pink
Definitely hot. I've always been a fan of girls with that kind of look. Which is weird, because I'm a suit and tie kind of guy.

WOW! I Won The Lottery
People like that always remind me of my friends back in high school. They would come up with the most brilliant, intricate plans to cheat on their exams. These schemes took more time and intelligence than was required to just study for the test and ace it. If the people creating these scams would put their intelligence and creativity towards something constructive, just imagine all that our country would have accomplished by now! I almost fell for one once. I was looking for a roommate via craigslist, and got a reply from a nice kid coming to Austin from London to go to school. He was going to overnight me a check for deposit and everything. I almost did it, thinking "how can someone be scamming me if they are sending me money?" Then I got about 15 more very similar e-mails from people in Canada, Ireland, etc... At this point I was wary, but still confused by how someone could be sending me money and be scamming me. Finally, I saw something in one of the messages that clued me in that it was definitely a scam: It was a person coming here to teach an English class, and I have never seen worse grammar in an e-mail in my life!

Four legged fishing buddies
I see, you couldn't have found a picture without a fish in it? You just had to show off your bass... ;)

Four legged fishing buddies
Slomoe, what breed is yours? She looks a lot like mine: He was a pound puppy, so I don't really know his breed, though I'm thinking he's a boxer/lab mix, maybe a little pit as well. The picture with his whole body was when I first got him, he was scrawny. He's put on about 20 pounds since then.

Believe in "E.T."?
Considering that new species are discovered almost every day in the oceans and rainforests, I'd say it's a pretty foolish statement to say that there aren't species we haven't discovered somewhere in the vastness of the universe. That being said, I don't understand why people always imagine aliens as little green creatures with outstanding technology. If all life began around the same time, then why would another civilization be so much more advanced than ours? Of course, there was that 1000 year period of the middle ages when technological advancement basically ceased in all areas except warfare, so...

T.O. cut by the Cowboys
Oh man I remember giving my cousin such a hard time about that last season. But then again, my Saints didn't do much either... By the way, my cousin actually went to school in Geneseo

T.O. cut by the Cowboys
I have a lot of cousins from Buffalo, and they're all excited. I would be too if I were a Bills fan. At least your team is showing that they are willing to do what it takes to get winning talent on the team.

Advice from Israeli Agent
What is going to change? Are New Yorkers going to stop riding the subway? Are Americans going to stop traveling by air? How much are you willing to give up to protect yourself against the inevitable? I refuse to be made a prisoner in my own country, constantly worried about the threat of a terrorist attack. I don't want there to be an attack any more than the next person does, but there is a point where you just have to accept a certain level of security, and if someone gets past it, then so be it. It would happen anyway. It's a battle that's been going on since the first weapons: the battle between the weapon and the armor. Every time a new level of security is reached, a way around that security is reached also. Look at Israel for a perfect example: for all their checkpoints, counterterrorism efforts, and highly trained soldiers (the Mossad are about the most effective force in the world) there are still almost daily terrorist attacks there. Locks only work against honest people. At some point, if someone wants badly enough to bring harm upon others, they will find a way to do it.

We got a few in Green Bay as well. But WOWI didn't see this one coming. TO to the Buffalo Bills. Let the destruction of the Bills begin. There has to be something to destroy...

Free Shoes U. on 4 years probation
It really bums me out anytime I hear stories like this about FSU. As a kid, for some reason I was always a really big fan of the 'Noles, before I knew their reputation. And I still have a lot of respect for Bobby Bowden, but every story like this damages his legacy.

Salmon recipes needed...................... Glenn response required! due to Pac NW
Grill it on a cedar grilling board to give it some nice, smokey flavor. Before cooking, sprinkle it liberally with lemon pepper, and rub it down to press the pepper into the fish a little. Sometimes I'll even spread on some butter before the pepper, as it will help to keep it moist as the butter melts. As far as sauces go, the hollandaise sauce is good if you're serving with veggies. Grilled apsaragus, tossed with some olive oil and lemon pepper, would be very good with the salmon and hollandaise. On a different note, make up an alfredo sauce and serve it with penne pasta. Alfredo sauce is very easy: 1) Melt 1/2 cup of butter in a small saucepot, then add in 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Bring it to a simmer to reduce for a couple minutes, then add 1/2 cup of parmasean cheese. Stir until the cheese is melted thoroughly, then add a pinch of cayenne pepper and you're done. There is one extra ingredient that I add, though you certainly don't have to: 1 raw egg yolk. After adding the cheese and taking the sauce off the heat, pour over pasta. Add 1 egg yolk (just the yolk, not the white) and stir it in. Don't worry, you don't have to worry about bacteria, eggs are harmless. The yolk will add a very distinctive richness to the sauce.

T.O. cut by the Cowboys
I thought about putting Boldin up there, but I think he just benefits from the double-teams that Fitzgerald draws. Not that he isn't a great receiver, but I think Fitz effects the opponent's gameplan a lot more. You could have a point with Calvin Johnson, and I thought about putting him up there. I just have to admit that I haven't seen a Lions game in quite a while, so I don't really have much to go on there. I'll give you Andre Johnson and Marshall, though I think that if you can't win games for your team, you shouldn't be considered a top-tier player. I think team success has to figure in when you are looking at the effectiveness of a single player.

T.O. cut by the Cowboys
For those who say T.O. isn't one of the premier receivers currently playing, I'm just curious to know who you think is better, that is currently playing. Here are the guys who might be better, but arguments could be made against all of them, in no particular order: 1) Larry Fitzgerald 2) Chad Johnson (maybe) 3) Steve Smith (Carolina) 4) Reggie Wayne 5) Chris Chambers (maybe) 6) Housh (maybe) 7) Randy Moss And that's all I've got. I would add Plaxico, but he's not exactly playing right now, probably won't be back for a while depending on his legal troubles, and who knows how well he'll recover from a gunshot wound to the thigh. There are other guys, mainly slot receivers (Wes Welker comes to mind) that are great receivers, but they don't effect a game the way T.O. and this list does. These guys consistently draw double teams and force the other team to gameplan against them. I can't really think of another player that commands more respect from defenses than these 8 (inlcuding T.O.) ***Edit: I forgot about Joey Galloway. So add him to the list***

Dumbest thing I've ever done...
So I've been up in Chicago for a couple months now, not really having much luck finding a job. Well, I think I may have figured out why I wasn't getting calls about my resume submissions. I changed my phone number when I moved, and committed the wrong number to memory. It's supposed to be "576-...." but instead, I have been saying it was "567-...." I figured that out late last night, and I don't think I have ever felt so embarrassed in my entire life. To make matters worse, when you call the number that I thought was mine, it's a chinese woman that doesn't speak any english. Terrific.

Just do not understand how these scams work
These people are absolutely evil, especially since they do tend to go after senior citizens who may not be as up to date on their knowledge of potential frauds. I remember one that called my grandfather a few years back. They called from "the parish government (this was in Louisiana)" and said that he had been selected for jury duty, and missed it, so there was a warrant out for his arrest. "Don't worry, though" they said "just give us your DOB and SSN and we can straighten the whole thing out." Luckily, they didn't realize who they were dealing with. Paw-Paw was a pretty cantankerous, abrasive, stubborn old fella and was infuriated that they would arrest HIM, a VETERAN, for supposedly missing jury-duty. So he drove down to the courthouse to give them a piece of his mind, where he was informed about the scam.
