  1. Another little tip is: Sometimes the boater concentrates on the corners and underneath the docks, and if he's fishing fast he often forgets those little brush piles residents throw out in front of their docks to attract and hold fish. Wait for the boat to clear the front of the dock and throw back...usually 3-5 feet in front. You could have used your shakey on those, but draggin a mojo rig ( carolina rig with a slim weight and no swivel) will sometimes wear him out. Other times its up to you to invent your water, by that I mean, things like, there might be deep water next to the docks, crank it. Top water bite in the morning between the docks, buzz it. Imagination is key... sounds like you were on fish !
  2. Fished with Russ Colwell the last day. One of the nicest Pros I ever fished with. He won the weekend series national championship and fished in the Classic in Alabama. If you want a good draw get him! Ps Our picture together on third day launch gallery #9 of 13 ,Bassmaster.com I'm hanging on to the dock.
  3. Theres a huge!!!!!!!!!difference between intentional and unintentional. Stuff happens, motors blow, heat sensors give up, boats run out of gas, batteries discharge....but boaters don't give up! If not for them then their partner for the day. I wish I knew who the guy was...If I ever got around him I'd use my 8' flippin stick on his shoulder blades, bet that would get him off the phone.
  4. I know there is no mention in the book about distance but several times on the open tour I've had problems, taken it over to the trailer and both gurus Capt. Mike and Wilson Frazier have said get the external off the bow next to a 330c, then 332c, and now a 520. There are units its okay with, but most non-hard drives its not. Has nothing to do with the cable length and at the price of the antenna, its not worth the risk. Triton factory setups stopped putting the antenna anywhere but in the back. I just tried to get them to do a beside the console on my new boat. I'm just repeating what they told me, and both these guys know more about the units than anyone else. If you have the skimmer GA you won't have anymore probs. And Al I had a external 12" from a 332c on the bow for two yrs, before she blew out. I learned the easy way...every things complimentary on the tour, the hard way is when its out of your wallet. I've seen Wilson change dozens of antennas each tournament. Thats always the fault, or so he says. Just advise is all I'm offering.
  5. If you have to keep it, mine did the same thing. Fix it by putting your skimmer on the TM,..I know you got a universal but so did I and they don't work that well on MK's. Second put your antenna back farther on the boat...at least 3' away from unit. You'll burn out your external any closer to your unit. Lastly if you need help and your close to Santee SC next week run it over to Wilson Frazier. (Lowrance guru @ the comp wagon)
  6. Wearing logos of companies your not sponsored by, will lose you opportunities. Lets say I'm the president of a large bait company, standing in a crowd of weigh-in watchers looking for a new candidate in the area to help push my bait concept. You'de be an automatic NO wearing my competions logo!
  7. Wasn't trash talkin...just doing alittle bragging while I can. Trust me, it won't be for long! But we all are good...aint we!
  8. Ask him when your pre-fishing, if he cares. Ask yourself this... If it wasn't for him would I know about this ? You gotta go if your answers no!
  9. File a charge with the T.D. You can't take back being treated unfairly and feeling abused by this low-life, but you might be able to stop it from happening to anyone else! >
  10. Senerio : You pratice 3 days and find only one cove with your kinda fish, its a 40 mile run, and your boat # 68. Its the only thing you got so you make the run the 1st morning, only to find as you blow into the mouth..KVD over the sweet spot. Catt what do you do?
  11. Anyone know what that whoosing sound on the bassresource fantasy board was? 8-)
  12. If half the field finds a honey hole, or bedded bass in practice,...The luck of the draw on the first day, decides. If Ish was there first and stayed all day, then its his for the tourney. Only thing that gets in the way of that is if they both can talk it out. THATS the unwritten rule. Otherwise word gets out your a hole jumper and hurts you in the long run. Think about it awhile and thats probably the only fair way. If you find it and stay on it, its yours. Remember a few years back, Dudley went around stickin bedders? Believe me guys, this subect is worse. It always gets settled behind the camera. Paul has been around a long time and Ish must have gave in. Pauls to nice a guy, to know he was hole jumping and do it on purpose.
  13. I've fished alot of tournaments in my life and as a general rule, there are not many off limit areas other than state regulated, lock limits,( different pools have different size limits), or release areas. Having said that, on the Ohio river, they have started in some tournaments to limit the size or kind of boats. Instead of declaring off limits( in buddy tournaments, hard to monitor) they simply have disqualed air and jet boats. This keeps everybody on the south side of the rapids and rocks. Personally I think, forget all those extra rules and just fish the tournament or don't. If I can't beat a jet boat team, because their running up some brach of the river I can't get to, and beat me, next time, I won't donate. I do own a jet boat, and a glass, for that very reason...and thats not all its cracked up to be either. All said have fun, and be in competion, or don't do it! Crybabies seldom take home cash, or have any fun !
  14. Older fisherman can't stand on one leg all day, and their kids learn from them.
  15. On any day,... in any lake,... a black and blue 1/2 ounce football jig, with a light blue craw trailer. Theres better for any condition but none as good for all conditions!
  16. Yeah! What he said...guess that ups my post count.
  17. "Leave it to Beaver"
  18. I've had a Super M, 450 MTA gas, 560 diesel, 806 gas, and a 966 diesel, in my farming career, all sold running as good, as when I bought them. All JD now but some pretty good memories farmin "RED"
  19. Garnet, stick with tournament bass fishing, it does cost as much to play as the stock market.
  20. Got a tournament on Santee cooper the first week of May. Hows the water level? Went through there in Jan. and it was low.
  21. Heres a question for you. Which sells more Triton boats? Watching KVD run a Triton last day or putting 6 Grand more money on Saturdays weekend tournament. How many Tundras are sitting in your driveway because Toyota pulls all boats into the arena? One more thing..wasn't skeeter the first?
  22. Quick !!!! Throw that hump-backed, jointed piece of fish catching junk away before your hooked ! There will be an occasion when you shouldn't throw it...but you will anyway!
  23. You missed the liz's. Bed Bug. (nest raider)
  24. I like the yellow 29's. I had to cut the battery tray, but so what. Best I've found, they power my MK pro82 fine all day.
  25. Definition of Sponsorship....something you think you want, until you get it and then it isn't what you thought it would be. Its gainful employment connected to your love of bass fishing, requiring lots of time, work, distraction and unfortunately some deceitfullness. The more you get...the more you give. The old law of business that theres nothing free applies.
