Long-Handle Crank Bait Rod??
In the old days, long handles were the standard on crankin' rods. Crankin' was two-handed affair. I had a Quantum 7' Tour Edition with cork fore and rear grip. What a stick. I had a problem with it, can't recall what, they send me back a rod with the fake EVA. I couldn't sell it fast enough. I saw something Randy Howell used a few years ago, the handle was just too short.

ardent flip n' pitch reel
Is your signature indicative of some sort of business relationship between yourself and Ardent?

need opnion on new finesse reel
for real finesse fishing, yeah, go with the pixy

Just made my first jdm purchase....
as long as it's in reliable mechanical condition, you did very well. The Alphas is an excellent all around reel.

SOL or Fuego
I own a Certate 2000 and an Advantage 2000. The Advantage has all you need from a spinning reel; a reliable drag, solid build, ball bearing line roller. I don't believe you would be disappointed.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
I was casting an unweighted 4" Berkley Chigger Craw with my STX yesterday on a Daiwa L&T Frog Rod. It was the same reel I used with my Steez 7'1" rod to pitch a jig and pig. My adjustment: A couple turns of the cast control knob. Period.

High dollar reels catch more fish?
I agree with your first statement and partially disagree with the rest. I've owned over a 1/2 doz. Abu/Garcia Ambassadeurs, in over 40 years of fishing. If they aren't a quality product, I'll eat my shirt! I've still got my first one and it still works just fine. And these reels are a far cry (cost wise) to what is purported - by popular opinion - to be the best of the baitcasting reels. I do agree that when you spend more money, you may think you are getting a better product. But when all is said & done, the Abu's will still be around a lot longer and they will cost a heck of a lot less to maintain - both in parts and labor. Best value for the buck on the market - hands down. Geez... For years the Abbadabbadoos were a standard, but for the last fifteen or twenty years, dog pooh-pooh. The Revo line is the first introduction in decades for any thing resembling a "quality" reel. Stick with Shimano: Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. 8-) Yeah, but it's still a Shimano. Did you ever wonder why there is a best selling video on how to repair your Shimano reels at home but no such thing for Daiwa? It's because Daiwa don't need it. What video game are you talking about? Just stick to your Daiwa's with their cute little twitchin' bars ;D It might be this home maintenance video: http://www.lakeforktacklerepair.com/tips.htm how foolish do you look now?

Revo???
the only reason id buy a SX over an S is for the increased gear ratio. if Abu made the S in a 7.anything they would take a huge bite out of the Curado sales. It's probably wouldn't be hard to do a gear upgrade yourself. The gears are probably standard. Call PureFishing and order the main drive gear and the pinion gear. It might take you 10 minutes.

Revo???
the disengaging spool design on the STX, Premier (Elite) and Skeet versions of the Revo make a reel that is superior to the S or SX version. If you prefer the centrifugal brake and you're not a weight weinie or aren't Rockfeller, the S is fine. The for about $30.00 more, go for the STX. You will have a superior reel. Tackle Tour reviewed both the STX and SX. The SX didn't fare so well.

Are JDM Reels Better??
The pinion gear on the JDM Steez has 4 slots. The American version has 2 slots.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
Don't misunderstand, I have no stock in Pure Fishing so there isn't any financial incentive on my part. I just don't experience the problems many others seem to have and thought I might be of assistance. As far as problems casting a variety of baits as mentioned. I have no reason to lie, not even puff the facts a bit. I learned to cast on the ABU 5500C some 35+ years ago. I think a lot of problems people have is based upon poor lessons. If you like the JM reels and they do the job for you, that's the biggest part of the game.

Jackall Flick Shake Worm
I have been using the Flick Shake since '05. In that time, I have found a Gamakatsu 1 or 2 drop shot hook is fine 90% of the time.

centrifugal or magnetic, which do you prefer and why
If you're snapping your wrist and forearm violently you're cast control knob is set too tight. When **I** started loosening the cast control knob to a point where the weight of the bait is pulling the line out easily, then both the centrifugal or mechanical brake works more effectively. On a mag only reel like the Revo SX or STX, a setting like that gets you a backlash. On those reels you have to set the spool tension so you have to jiggle the rod to get the lure going. I am using the Revo STX and the Revo Elite and use those exact settings with no problems. The linked video is in Japanese but if you watch starting at about 4:50, you will see the demonstration. I'm using baits starting at 1/4 oz, up to 3/4 oz with only minor adjustment of the mag brake. Try it, then comment.

The bocoo rods are now available at certain on line retailers

Finesse Baitcasting Reels
To the best of my knowledge, the Pixy is no longer in production. It doesn't mean it won't be reintroduced at some future time. There are a few Japan-based websites where used tackle is sold. There are also the flea market sections of the forums.

Falcon makes a very good rod.

spinning reel with braid?
Definitely yes with the leader for pike. We have pickerel here in NJ and the same set of choppers, only smaller and they can wreak havoc on braid. It doesn't have to be long, maybe 18" or so, just as if you were using a wire leader.
