Weak Pee Stream And Poor Compression
Weak pee stream is most often caused by a worn water pump, impeller and/or housing. Compression "not correct" would mean low. Low compression can be stuck rings, worn cylinders, leaking reed valves, blown gaskets, etc. Water pump problems are usually an easy fix. It's a fairly straightforward job. How often a pump needs maintenance (repair) depends on how and where it's used. Using the motor on muddy water with a lot of grit and sediment suspended in the water will eat up a water pump. Running a motor in places where the intake can get choked with weeds will also cause premature wear. Having a dealer replace the housing and impeller can cost a hundred fifty, plus or minus, according to what I've read. I'm sure there are many on here that can give you an accurate estimate. Low compression can be, and usually is a very expensive fix.

Sad Sad Story
Before anyone starts blaming the dog or its owners, there could be something else going on, such as a brain tumor. Dogs can be the kindest, gentlest animals in the world, but all sorts of health issues can change them from Dr. Jekyl to Mr. Hyde. Rabies is an extreme example, but serves well to illustrate how an illness can change an animal. I don't know enough about the dog in the first post. It is entirely possible that he was undisciplined, and lacked socialization from day one. But, it's unfair to make assumptions based on such scant information.

Saving Fuel In My New Rig
Trim the motor tilt all the way down. You may need a different propeller. You can move weight forward. However moving weight forward will likely result in lower top end speed. If you have a jack plate that can be trimmed at the helm, raise the motor as high as it will go, in addition to tilting it down. As soon as the boat starts to get on plane, throttle back and lower the motor to prevent cavitation/ventilation. Once on plane you can tilt the motor outward to lift the bow. Again, this is something for which you'll have to develop a "feel". http://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=How+to+get+a+boat+up+on+plane&view=detail&mid=4BADAF8EDFADE693AC854BADAF8EDFADE693AC85&first=0&FORM=NVPFVR&qpvt=How+to+get+a+boat+up+on+plane For the propeller, you should have a prop that allows the engine to run at, or near the maximum safe operating range at full throttle. As a last resort, you can add a "whale tail" to the anti-ventilation plate on your outboard. It will help to lift the stern. Another trick to help a boat get up on plane is to steer the boat to the left and then back to the right. It will take a bit of practice to get the hang of it. What that does is make the side of the boat lift. If you steer to the right, the left side will rise and help to lift the stern. Then steer back to the left, and the right side of the boat will rise. Eventually, you'll get the feel for the best steering tempo, and how much steering input you need. You don't want to steer full left and then full right, or you'll get no forward momentum. Sometimes, just a slight bit of turning to the left or right will help get on plane quicker. One way will work a bit better than the other due to the rotation of the prop. There are so many variables in props, motor trim, weight shifting, etc., that your best bet would be to seek the advice/help of someone with experience in boat handling. Another possibility is that your boat is underpowered. If that's the case, your best bet is the whale tail, unless you've got the resources (money) to repower with a bigger engine.

I Think I Just Blasphemed
Relax Raider, all is not lost. Mount a spool on that bow, and you can go bow fishing. You'll need some different arrows for that. I can see the bait monkey chattering in your ear right now. Now you're back to 18 combos.

Outboard With No Title In Missouri
Heck, you don't even need to register your trailer in TN. But, you better be able to provide proof of insurance for the trailer. I found that out three years ago when I lost my trailer plate somewhere in PA on the route from MA to TN, for the Road Trip. When I got to TN, I tried to get a plate bracket at a boat dealer so I could put a temporary plate on my trailer. That's where I was told you didn't need a plate in TN. Felt like I was in a time warp.

Fuel/water Separators
Actually, a 10 micron filter will remove smaller particles from the fuel than a 20 micron filter. Been a long time, but when I was a commercial lobsterman, Racor fuel filters/water separators were the preferred filters. They were not cheap, but they were very effective. As a rule, you get what you pay for. http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/userportal/show_product.do?pid=6430&familyName=Racor+Outboard+Engine+Gasoline+Fuel+Filters The Academy filter may be sufficient, but I tend to err on the side of overkill when it comes to these things.

Am I Missing Something?
I went to a store that had a sign at the cash register that read, no bill larger than a twenty accepted. I pulled out a c-note and handed it to the clerk. She pointed me to the sign, whereupon I pulled out a twenty to show her the hundred dollar bill was no larger than a twenty. She called the manager, and they accepted the hundred dollar bill.

Nitro Z6
I agree. I bought both of my Nitros as leftovers. Bought both in April (the 7 in 2010 and the 8 in 2012). The 2009 Z-7 had a "sticker" price of over 23,000, and I got it for 19,500. I got the 2011 Z-8 last year marked down 4000 dollars from 33,000 to 29,000 and got a thousand dollar BPS gift card to boot. That was like getting the boat for 28,000 with no card. The only options that came with the 8 were retractable tie downs, trailer brakes on both axles, and a Nitro ratchet cord boat cover.

Ive Been Compared
I take it back. If you were EF that would be vewwy vewwy, not berry berry. What a maroon. I knew I should have taken a left turn at Alberqueque.

Hmmmmm, I think of Raider as more of an Elmer Fudd type.

Pedestal Storage
Both Nitros that I have owned have clamps for front and rear pedestals as well as the light pole for the stern in the starboard rod locker side wall. Couldn't find them in the BPS online catalog. Try calling a BPS and ask for Tracker Marine. Tell them what you are looking for. If they don't have them in stock they should be able to order them for you.

Nitro Z6
I'll take the opposite side of the coin. I wouldn't go without trailer brakes. I had a Z-7 and needed to put a brake lockout pin in when backing down on soft sand/gravel ramps. Believe me, if I forgot to pull the lockout pin after loading and heading home, I knew it instantly the first time I used the brakes. Trailer brakes save a lot of wear on your vehicle's brakes, not to mention shortening the stopping distance.

Harry Potter
I agree. The movies are the equivalent of Cliff Notes. There is so much more detail in the books, that in many ways the movies are a disappointment. The audio books are read by Jim Dale. But, they are not just read. He has a different voice for every character. His readings literally breathe life into the characters. A modern day Mel Blanc.

Harry Potter
I enjoy the Harry Potter story. I've got the audio books on my Ipod. I listen to them when I'm travelling. It's not just the story, it's the creativity of the author in making the story a jigsaw puzzle with pieces scattered throughout, that are all tied together as the story comes to its conclusion. In many ways, it's similar to the Star Wars saga in the way the characters connect.

Anyone Have Any Luck In Southern Nh Yet? (4/6/12)
I've posted about this "rig" before. So far, it has worked for me everywhere I've fished it. It's simple. A Rage Tail Menace on a jig head, held in place with Locktite super glue. It did its thing very well at the latest Road Trip to Pickwick. And, if color is important to you, I was using a Pumpkin with purple and gold flakes. Deaknh03 used watermelon with red and black flakes. When my inventory of the pumpkin was gone, I used the watermelon with the same results. We had a contest going, but it was so complicated Einstein couldn't have sorted it out. Each largemouth bass counted one point. Deduct one point for each boated pickerel. There was a small dispute as to whether or not smallmouth bass should be worth more than one point. I lobbied for it, because there was only one smallmouth boated in the first two or three hours, and that was by me. In the end, we settled for a draw. The following image shows the rig with a Rage Tail grub. The Menace is rigged the same way. The Menace can be rigged with the tail horizontal or vertical. The above is rigged with a Jackall Wacky Jig Head, 1/8th ounce. Cannot use lead in Mass, or I'd use the Gamakatsu Wacky Jig hook. It slips through all the vegetation much better than the Jackall hook. The vertical eye and shank of the Jackall grabs a lot of "stuff" that the Gamakatsu doesn't. The Gamakatsu has a recessed eye at the front which sheds vegetation much better. In addition. the Gamakatsu has two weedguard wires which are nearly indestructible. They are a nickel/titanium alloy which allows them to spring without getting bent.

Excellent! May you have a speedy and uneventful recovery. It probably goes with out saying, but I'll say it anyway. Scrupulously follow you doctor's instructions.

Are You Insured?
Unless you are destitute, you are "insured". In the case of liability, any assets you have are your insurance. Insurance is to cover your losses, and your liabilities. If you have the resources to cover your liabilities, losses, and enjoy playing Russian Roulette, not insuring your boat may be just the ticket. If you don't have the means to pay for someone you injure or their property you damage, then common decency dictates that you carry insurance. regardless of what the law may require. At the very minimum, you should carry insurance to cover the losses you may inflict on others, be it property damage or personal injury.

How Long Should Trailer Tires Last?
Long Mike, and Mr. Bundy, you have hurt my feelings.
-
How Long Should Trailer Tires Last?
That will tell you if the axle is square to the centerline of the trailer. If the axle is not square, the trailer will "crab" along, somewhat sideways. I'm pretty sure we've all been behind cars whose rear wheels do not follow the same track as the front wheels when travelling in a straight line.
-
How Long Should Trailer Tires Last?
You can easily check the alignment for toe in, or toe out. You'll need two people to help you. Have the trailer on a flat surface, and hooked up to the tow vehicle. It doesn't have to be perfectly level, but it should be close. You'll need a couple of eight foot straightedges. Aluminum angle "irons" should work. Make sure whatever you use is straight, and not easily distorted. Have two hold the straightedge horizontally against the outside sidewalls on each side. The center of the straightedge should be in line with the axle. The third person will measure the gaps at the front and rear ends of the straightedges. The gaps, front and rear should measure the same. You can use a carpenter's level to check the wheels for camber. If you have a straight box beam axle, place the level on the axle, and shim the wheel on the low side until the axle is level. Simply place the level vertically against the sidewalls of the tire. The level should be centered on the wheel. The bubble in the indicator should be in the center of the tube. Do both sides. One thing to keep in mind. If a wheel is bent, you will not get an accurate reading. Jack up one side at a time, and spin the wheel. There should be no wobble. This will not be precise, but it will show you if the wheels are out of alignment, be it toe, or camber.
