Painted Plywood Floor
Maybe a porch and deck enamel. No matter, if you use the boat often, you will wear the paint off the heavily trafficked areas. The non-skid is a good suggestion. The material be it sand, ground rubber or whatever will take a lot of the abuse, thus sparing the paint. You may still need to touch up places periodically.

Multi-Hook Dropshot
Do you use a limerick hook for that tube rig? For umbrella rigs, we'd buy the "frame" and make our own baits out of surgical tubing over limerick hooks and swivels. We'd color the tubing with magic markers in red or black, leaving some the natural color of the tubing. Surgical tubing also makes great sling shots. http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQpHPO2BrWvyzTkF5bsfVesxO5B9wbLUZJqWJWCbrCiW35HdJxMxg

Multi-Hook Dropshot
Multi bait drop shot rigs are old history. They were used for catching mackerel for food, or as bait for stripers. Four or five multi colored slender tubes over small hooks with a silver jig for a weight to get the baits down. They were nothing new when I used them in the 1950s. They were known as Christmas trees. Many of the fresh water fishing techniques are adaptations of what had been used on saltwater for decades. The "Carolina rig" for example is one. The Alabama rig is another.

Great Soft-Plastics Rig!
When you say barrel weight, do you mean the type that has a wire with an eye that passes through the weight? I'm assuming that the eye is what is attached to the split ring.

Tons Of Gary Yamamoto On Sale!
Just for jollies, I checked it out. I wanted 4" Senkos. They were priced at 5.99 per pack, but were limited to three packs. Take another 20% off brings them to 4.80 per pack. Last week, got them at Dick's Sporting Goods on sale for about the same price, with no limits. They go on sale several times a year. That's when I stock up on them.

No property tax? Whatever fees or rents a person pays factors in the cost of property taxes. Part of the problem with the housing crash was that they were writing mortgages with little or no money down, not 20 - 30%. In fact, the prices of homes were inflated when the mortgages were written to get around needing a large down payment. When I was a kid, 60+ years ago, most "developments" consisted of small houses, often referred to as "cracker boxes", the term meaning tiny. Most were cottages with two bedrooms, that had less than a thousand square feet of living area, on a quarter acre of land. For the average Joe who wanted to get out of the city, they were modest and affordable. No one wants to build one of those houses today. Zoning laws changed to prevent "overcrowding" and minimum lot sizes became an acre to two acres. Our first home, bought in 1965 was built on a quarter acre lot. Our second, built in 1969 was on a half acre lot. In 1972, we moved to Westport, and the minimum lot size was, and still is 60,000 square feet, with a minimum of 150 feet of frontage on a roadway. Part of the reason that small homes are no longer being built in numbers is that property prices have gone through the ceiling. Buildable lots in Westport sell for 100,000 dollars and up, depending on location. No one wants to build a "cracker box" on a hundred thou plus piece of property. In 1972, buildable lots in Westport could be had for less than 20,000 dollars. They peaked eight or so years ago when 150,000 to 175,000 was what you could expect to pay for a buildable lot.

You may be correct, but most of the complaints I read about is the high cost of medical care and drugs. I hear complaints about how much doctors make. But the real clincher is those who complain about hospital costs. The truth about hospitals is that what they receive directly from patients, insurance companies, and the government for services rendered does not cover the operating costs of providing those services. Were it not for philanthropy, most not for profit hospitals would be operating at a loss. In fact, many hospitals have been forced to shut their doors in spite of the fact that their facilities were operating at near capacity for handling the patient load.

I know that first hand. When I was lobstering my deck hand twisted his ankle and went to have it checked at the ER. He gave them his BC/BS card. When they found out he hurt it at work they wouldn't cover it. I had insurance through a lobstermen's co-op. The bugaboo was that each year without a claim got you a discount on the premiums. Anyway, the hospital sent me the bill for the ER, and the third party payer rate for me to turn over to the insurance company. Both rates were on the bill I received, and the third party payer's rate was about forty percent less. I figured that I was a third party payer and sent them a check for that amount. It was much cheaper than the increase a claim would have imposed on my premium. Never heard from the hospital again. It is weird that they accepted the check from me, but they would not have accepted that amount from my deckhand.

Buy a home. Build equity. I've never understood condos and townhouses as far as economic considerations go. I get the idea that you don't have to mow the lawn, shovel snow, paint and repair the outside of the building, but from strictly a dollars and cents perspective owning a home you can afford is the better deal. Yeah, I know, tell that to all the folks who are upside down with their mortgages. The problem with home ownership seems to be that most folks do not want a starter home. They want a 3000 square foot McMansion in a nice suburb. Then they try to keep up with the Joneses. Here comes the company to install irrigation to keep their lawn plush and green. The 3000 dollar riding mower they bought last year sits unused in the garage this year, because they hire a landscaping company to tend to their grounds. In goes a swimming pool and an addition. No window air conditioners. Must have central air. These are all nice things. But too many get in way over their heads because they want them yesterday, not tomorrow.

Health care is a different animal. While most bemoan the cost of receiving health care, consider this. The teacher that taught me when I was in first grade, would be qualified to teach a first grade class today. With the exception of computers and the electronic technology, the process of imparting knowledge has changed little. A worker who installed parts on an assembly line 60 years ago, could install parts on an assembly line today. The pick and shovel guy of years ago could wield that pick and shovel today. None of that is true with health care. A doctor who practiced when I was in first grade would be totally lost in today's medicine. My dad had a hernia operation when I was ten years old. That repair resulted in the standard two week hospital stay before he could come home. Further, while in the hospital, he was in a "ward". I doubt many on this forum know what that is. He was one of twelve patients in one large room with draw curtains around each bed. Today, in the morning you walk in for a typical hernia repair and are home that evening. While hospital costs have outpaced inflation, the health care of today is not what it was 60 years ago. All these miracle machines and technology do not come without considerable costs to develop, and then manufacture them. Most folks other than those in the health care "industry" have very little, if any, appreciation for the wondrous advancements in health care. The list is endless. Not only are lives saved today, that would have been lost yesterday, but the quality of life after illnesses and injuries is much higher than it was yesterday. These do not come without much investment in research and testing before they are approved for treatment of our problems.

Home Modernization
While failing to return calls is unprofessional and rude, it's better than what was common around here when building was booming. Some contractors would return calls, give bids and agree to take the job. The problem was they "overbooked" so they'd start work on a job, usually with a full crew, get the construction started, then part of, and sometimes all of the crew would go back to jobs they had been working on. It was a nightmare for those who hired the unscrupulous contractors. Yes, they could take the contractor to court, and even perhaps win a judgement. That process could take a couple of years, maybe longer. In the meantime, it would be all but impossible to get another contractor to take over a job that had been started, and was in litigation.

How Reliable Are Fishing Forecasts?
If you don't go fishing because some/any fishing forecast says the fishing will be poor, the fishing will be poor. You won't even get a nibble.

How Far Do You Travel To Fish?
45 minutes to an hour and a half, each way for fishing around home. In keeping with the title of the thread, I travel as much as 24 + or - hours to fish with the gang that attends the Bass Resource Road Trip. Doesn't matter, Pickwick, KY Lake, Guntersville, they are all 1200+ miles. But, I make it almost a two week trip. Two to three days travel round trip, depending on whether or not I drive straight through, and nine to eleven days of fishing.

Fishing Hats
I wear a hat with the "curtain" that wraps around the sides and back of your head. I also wear a buff. White is the best color. it reflects a lot of the radiant heat from the sun. I'm not going to you it doesn't get warm, sometimes very warm, but it's better than trying to sleep at night with your face on fire. But the main reason is not for comfort. It's to protect against skin cancer. I only use sunblock on my nose, and chap stick on my lips. Oh, I also wear Dr. Shade gloves, and long sleeve shirts/jerseys.

Anchors, Where To Place And How To Tie?
Nah, not me. When I want to stay on a spot, or work around a spot, I use a two dollar buoy to mark the spot. It's easy to stay right on that spot, or move a few feet one way or the other, using the buoy as a reference. With a little practice, holding a position, even in the wind, or current, is a piece of cake.

Anchors, Where To Place And How To Tie?
I don't mind spending money, and I know it's a great device, but for me, it's not worth the asking price. I know my buddy Scrutch will vehemently disagree with me. That's okay, and one of the things that makes fishing such a great activity. We can each do it our way. I'd rather have the Humminbird 360. It's like an underwater radar, where the entire display refreshes every few seconds. See a rock pile off to the side and you can turn toward it without losing it on the screen as you would with side imaging. The image doesn't blur as you turn because it refreshes so frequently.

Anchors, Where To Place And How To Tie?
I might be in the market for a power pole, when they make one that will work in water 12 - 20 feet deep.

I'm going to beat Long Mike to the punch. That should be proudly. Proud is an adjective. In the above sentence, it is an adverb, modifying the verb "Wear".
