2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
I'll be fishing late Thursday morning, and looking forward to being with all of you on Wednesday. I should have some info by the time you all arrive, even if that info is what not to do.

Versatility
I hear you can also dance a mean Irish jig. Here's what I will have my rods set up with for starters, at Pickwick, in no particular order. A wacky worm rigged on the Gamakatsu wacky jig head. A shaky head Strike King finesse worm on the above Gamakatsu and/or a Jackall wacky jig head. A lizard rigged on an Owner Sled Head A jig with a Rage Tail mini craw. A Rage Tail Curly Tail grub and/or a Rage Tail Menace rigged on the Gamakatsu Wacky Jig Head. Wiggle Wart, or Red Eye Shad crank bait. Spinner bait A drop shot setup.

Marine Adhesive/sealant
When you say sealing bolt and screw holes, are those holes you just want to plug, or will you be putting screws and bolts into or through those holes? If you want to plug the holes, I'd go with the 3M 5200. If you are still going to put fasteners in or through those holes, all you need is a marine grade silicone sealant. You certainly don't want 3M 5200 on the fasteners. If you need to remove them in the future, you might find it all but impossible.

Marine Adhesive/sealant
I use 3M 5200 and I've got only one bit of advice. Do not use it on anything you may need or want to take apart in the future. The stuff is darn near indestructible. It is a great product. I don't know anything about the Walmart product. But you usually get what you pay for. Tell us a bit more. What are you going to use it for?

Boat Batteries
Have them load tested. Interstate Battery Stores will do it for free. Most auto parts places will do it as well. Just check ahead to be sure.

The trip east is OK. He's got the jet stream helping. It's the trip back home that's the killer, flying against the jet stream.

There are a gazillion permutations for the rigs. If it won't incur the wrath of the "big sticks" let us know some particulars. For the Red Eye Shad some size and colors info would be appreciated.

Nice title above your avatar. And in keeping with the theme of this thread.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
Well, get with it man. I'd be ready to leave now if I didn't have to get the trailer bearings checked and serviced this Friday. The only other thing is to get the oil changed and tires rotated on my truck. I'm outta here next Wednesday if all goes well. Get to Pickwick Thursday afternoon. Grab some dinner, a shower, and hit the sack. Hopefully on the water around daybreak Friday. Retirement or semi-retirement is a beautiful thing.- Bass Pro Shops For Installations?
I've been well satisfied with the service BPS has provided for my Nitro. I have no doubt they will do a good job on those installations. They should, since they do many of them. However they may be pricey. I installed my own Humminbird 898, after asking them how much they would charge to install it when I bought a new Z-8 last year. I had done it on the Z-7 that I had traded in. It's a fairly straightforward job once you determine where to put the transducer. I don't know about power poles. As for the quality of their work, I've been satisfied.- Explosions At The Boston Marathon Finish Line

Here's a way to instantly relieve the pain of an abcessed tooth. Ice water. No, I'm not kidding. The pain is caused by the pressure of the abcess at the root. Sometimes a blister will form on the gum and break, relieving the pressure, and thus the pain. Ice water, applied to the tooth causes the infection fluid to contract, relieving the pressure. The relief is short lived however. When the ice water warms, the infection expands and the pain returns. You'll need to take another swig of ice water. The trick is to spit out the water. You can only drink so much. My experience has been that once the dentist opens up the tooth, allowing the abcess to drain, the pain stops. It has for me. I've had probably ten root canals, and I recently had one retreated, so I speak from experience. You might think the cold water would make the pain worse, but that is not the case with an abcess. The nerve in the tooth is already dead, so technically, it's not a tooth ache. It's pressure in the gum on surrounding nerves.- Explosions At The Boston Marathon Finish Line
I'm fine. We are fifty plus miles south of Boston. Thanks for your concern.- Root Canal
That's the official word from our resident pharmaceutical guru.- The Masters 2013
The Tiger controversy notwithstanding, it was one whale of a finish. When Scott birdied the 18th, it looked like he would win. Then Cabrera put his second shot stiff to the flag leaving an "easy" birdie putt. The playoff was outstanding, well worth the price of admission.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
Well, I'm happy to report that I have dodged a bullet. I've been cleaning the boat, and I pulled the rubber plugs out of the grease caps/sleeves to check the grease level in the bearing assemblies. I pulled the first plug and the grease ran out like molasses. Must be water intrusion, but not enough to make the grease a milky color. There was no grease being slung anywhere that I could find. On the opposite side, the sleeve which fits into the hub was loose. I can push it in or pull it out by hand. There was a circle of grease in the trim cap that goes over the lug nuts. The rear axle bearing chambers seemed fine. In any case, I made an appointment with a reputable local trailer dealer to service all four bearing assemblies. Goes in Friday morning. Seventy-five bucks per axle, which includes seals, cleaning and repacking the bearing assemblies. I'm glad I didn't wait until the day before my scheduled departure to tend to the wheel bearings. The per axle fee includes servicing both sets of wheel bearings. Any other parts needed are an extra cost, parts only above the one fifty to get everything done. Sometime this week or the beginning of next, the truck will go in for oil change, tire rotation and routine inspection. Not expecting anything beyond the routine service that is due. Before our trip to GA last fall I had new belts installed, and a brake job before the Guntersville trip. Looking forward to meeting all of you again, and some for the first time. I'm psyched. Or is it psycho?- The Masters 2013
It was a fan that called it in on Dustin Johnson. It happens more than most folks realize. "The Tournament of Champions lost another star player Friday when Camilo Villegas was disqualified for a rules violation that a television viewer called in after the opening round at Kapalua. "Juli Inkster also was disqualified for swinging a weighted club during a long wait on the tee. That infraction was called in by a viewer." "Television viewers have been calling in rules violations for years, leaving golf officials little choice. Every time a viewer calls in a possible violation that leads to disqualification, there are protests of inequity that only the top players get the most TV times."- The Masters 2013
Two incidents come to mind. Dustin Johnson inadvertently did not call a penalty on himself when he grounded his club in what he thought was a waste bunker. He turned in an incorrect scorecard. Disqualified. I believe that was at the U.S. Open. Several years ago at the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course. Tiger's ball comes to rest behind a boulder. Several men come to Tiger's rescue and move the "loose impediment" out of the way, giving him a clear shot to advance the ball toward the green. Heck, if that's the case anything that is not "embedded" should be moveable, even if it takes a backhoe to do it. Now Tiger gets another helping hand from the officials. Meanwhile they assess the 14 year old from China a stroke penalty for slow play. When was the last time they levied one on a PGA pro? I couldn't find one in a google search.- Favorite Pizza--
I've got to go back into the pages of history. This place is no longer in existence. But in the day, it had the best pizza, thin crispy and outstanding flavor. Our favorite combination was bacon and linguica. Most of you won't know what linguica is since it seems to be readily available only in this neck of the woods. It's a Portuguese sausage. Some compare it to pepperoni, but pepperoni cannot hold a candle to linguica. Chourico is also similar, but still not as good as linguica. In any case, bacon and linguica is a killer combination on pizza. "Outside of Portugal, Azores and Brazil, linguiça is also popular in Goa (once a Portuguese colony in India), Southeastern Massachusetts, Massachusetts' North Shore, California, Oregon, Seattle, New Jersey, Hawaii, and Okinawa. It is also available in many grocery stores in southern New Hampshire, and southern Maine. In these regions it is typically sliced before being braised or grilled." http://www.melloschourico.com/mild-linguica.html- Bass Boat Pedestal Seats
Unless I'm on the water, the posts are stowed below deck and the seats are mounted in the deck holes. Usually there are clamps to hold the posts below deck. Some travel on the road with the seats mounted on the posts, but most stow the posts below deck with the seats mounted in the deck holes. The seats are more vulnerable because of the leverage the posts create. The only advantage to traveling down the road with the seats and posts mounted is the few seconds you save by not stowing the posts and mounting the seats in the holes in the deck. The downside is that leaving the mounted on posts makes them more likely to damage the boat.- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
Hmmmmmm, I wonder, can the same be said for the model?- 2013 Roadtrip! You're Invited!
I like the Field and Stream at Dicks. When they are on sale, they can be had for 75 dollars. My only gripe is that I'd prefer the bib overall style. The regular pant style tends to creep down and you can end up with a wet butt. Suspenders would take care of that. I just keep hoisting 'em up. I bought a second set a couple of years ago just in case someone with me didn't have or bring their own. I'm still on the first set. The jacket has a zipper and snaps. No problems with them and they are five years old. Just went to Dicks and they still have Field and Stream, but they show them as separate items, pants and jacket, not the set. A lot more expensive.\ The Frog Togs should work fine. - Some People Have No Sense Of Humor
