Fall Fishing
Summer is coming to and end and Fall is coming soon. It's been getting cooler and the water has been going down in temperature. I did good fishing this Summer and was wondering what the fish tend to do when Fall comes. The lake I fish have every type of structure and thing a Bass would like that I can think of. What are some good Fall baits that I should try and what areas are best? I'm fishing a lake in California. Thanks

What Polarized Glasses Do You Use?
I recently got a pair of Dragon's with Polarized Lenses for $120. I notice a big difference between these and my $30 old pair that I got from Cabelas. The lense color is Gray and it brightens things up a little bit but not much.

Hooks for drop-shot.
I use a size 1 Gamakatsu Drop Shot/Split Shot Hook. I've used worms as big as the 6.5" Yamamoto Cut Tail Worm.

If you could fish any lake?
I'd really like to fish Lake Guntersville and like the others I'd also like Lake Fork.

How long do you go fishing?
I usually get out there at 6:30 which isn't very early and go in whenever my Grandpa gets to hot which is at about 12:00. I'll be 16 pretty soon so then I'll be able to take the boat out by myself for as long as I want.

top water frogs
I use 50LB Power Pro and have had no problems getting fish outta the grass. The rod I'm using is a 7' MH rod that I usually use for Spinnerbaits. When you get a fish on a Frog in heavy grass you really gotta put alot of power into it and horse them out.

Topwater Decisions
I've been doing well fishing Frogs so far this Summer. I'm mainly fishing them on floating vegetation and have caught most of my fish at the edge of the vegetation or 1-3' from the edge. I was thinking of either trying a Buzz Bait or a Popper. What helps make your decison between the two? The water im fishing is usually calm and dosen't get really windy or rough. Thanks

Most productive lure for fishing weeds?
If the Weeds your talking about are underwater I'd try a Rattle Trap type bait and rip it outta the weeds when it gets sanagged. If the Weeds are on top I'd be throwing a Frog and Flipping a Texas Rig in the holes.

Drop Shotting
1. I fish my Drop Shot on a Spinning Reel and pitch it to get a more accurate cast. I prefer pitching because I still get far and can get it to land quitly and accurate. 2. Some people fish a Drop Shot on a Baitcasting Set Up and call it a "Bubba Shot". The only difference is what you wanna do, bigger baits, hooks, and line. 3. I don't fish a "Bubba Shot". I use 8 pound test and a Size 1 Gamakatsu Drop Shot/Split Shot hook. I have used big bulk baits like a Yamamoto 6.5" Cut Tail on the Size 1 hook and have had no problem catching fish. 4. Like metioned above the Weight Size depends on how deep of water your fishing. I ususally use a 1/4 ounce Drop Shot Sinker (the tall skinny one). If I use was using a Baitcasting Set Up I'd be using a 3/8 ounce weight.

Depth Finder Question
My Grandfathers boat has a small Eagle Fish Finder on it. The Transducer is on the back right of the boat in the water. I don't know how to read it well and want to learn how to use the Depth Finder. When I find a Hump or Fish does this mean they are directly under the back area of the boat? Or does this mean the back region of the boat? Thanks

Re: I need some major help guys!!!
Ifyou end up getting a Crankbait Rod you can also throw Topwater and Spinnerbaits on that rod too. My parents think I have to much fishing stuff to. I went out looking for a job but they all said I have to be 16 so I get to wait one more month until I can get a job.

Top water Frogs...
Fishing Frog's is my all time favorite way to fish. The line that I would recommend is Braid like the others said. 10 pound test is not a strong enough line for throwing Frog's. When i tie my Frog on before I tighten the know all the way down I wet it and add a drop of Super Glue. I really cinch the knot down tight. What Frog were you using? The Snag Proof "Bobby's Perfect Frog" is by far the best Frog on the market IMO. I't comes in 8 good looking colors and it come with a Gamakatsu Frog hook so you don't have to change it. When you get a strike wait until you feel pressure then set the hook, set it hard. When you've got the fish hooked really put it on him and get him on top of the vegetation and to the boat ASAP. If the fish is 5+ pounds it's very strong and if you give it time it will get donw and bury itself in the vegetation. This is not good because the vegetation is heavy, atleast the stuff I fish in is. Once you get the habg of setting the hook it will become an insticnt inside you and you'll know when to set the hook. Usually whne they hit the frog they get it all the way in their mouth or in the roof of it and the hooks penetrate out. When the fish wants the Frog bad enought it will really eat it and come through alot ot get to it. God luck with your Frog fishing as it is one of the funnest techniques to fish.

Contact Fishing
Here's an embarrasing story, I was Fishing and throwing a Spinnerbait to the shore and slow rolling it back. I got a strike and when I set the hook I accidentally engaged the spool. I had no idea why this happened and this was the first and only time I've done this. Anyway, I had alot of pressure on the fish after the hookset and when the spool engaged the rod came back really quick and hit me right between the eyes. I had a bright red line from the between my eyes to the bottom of my fore head. Thats pretty much the most painful/embarrasing thing I've encountered in my Bass Fishing.

1st Post and Flipping/Pitching Question
Thanks for the advice guys, fivebasslimit, the fish should be finishing up the spawn so I think your right about them not being way in the Tulles. There are usually fish under Docks and have flipped the edges but have'nt got nothing doing that. The lake I'm fishing is Clear Lake in Northern California, I'm sure you've heard of it if you read Bassmasters or anything about the Western guys. It's one of the best lakes out West and is called "The Bass Capitol Of The West". Thanks again for the advice

1st Post and Flipping/Pitching Question
This is my first post here and it looks like a really good Forum that gets alot of knowledgeable responses. Lately I've been trying to work on my Flipping/Pitching skills and have'nt alot alot fish doing this technique. I don't know what am doing wrong. I can Pitch and Flip pretty good without making much disturbence on the water. Once it enters the water I Dead Stick the bait for 5 seconds and then lift it about 5-10 inches and let it fall to the bottom and Dead Stick it again for 5 seconds then move on. What am I not getting alot of bites? The bait I'm usuing are Yamamoto 6.5 inch Cut Tail Worms and Sweet Beavers. I've targeted Tulles, Docks, Lay Downs, and Hyacinths and other floating plants. Thanks For Any Advice
