  1. yeah... im going to have to agree that the best florida bait is any 7+ in" ribbontail worm in black. but them there one knockers are awesome huh?!
  2. hey knap. if you throw a 3/8 oz. c-rig in shallow subdivision type ponds, try rigging it up with a 3/0 ewg hook and a beaver style bait. the action is awesome... and those fish havent seen that too much. i promise!
  3. x2 i love these hooks.
  4. so... to summerize- dt's, xraps, original floaters, husky jerks, skitter walks, skitter pops, skitter props and shad raps... all sizes... most colors.... cant go wrong with a rapala... get em all! lol. (p.s.- yes i use the sub walks occasionally, though mostly for redfish. theyre great for shallow water subtlety.)
  5. we did really well lately throwing shakyheads to docks in stained water with black zoom trick worms. used 1/16oz , on spinning reels. 10lb test . clear water.... u cant go wrong with anycolor green.
  6. there are other bass sites? i hadnt noticed.
  7. passion and persistance. i want to fish constantly. all day. when the people i go with are tired or frustrated or hot or cold... im still casting while theyre packing up. and im most confident throwing a c-rig.
  8. everytime i threw my cavitron.. i thought i was going to catch a fish. not just wished i would... but thought i would. thats a heck of a difference. unfortunately... in the dawn, a log laying in the grass bares little to no resemblence to the 8 ft gator that i threw my cavitron to. SMASH!!! not really a fair endurance test. ;D you shoulda seen the look on my face.
  9. well other than not having a boat... i think my biggest weekness is that i need to be more diverse in my selections when im in the back of the boat. when my angler is killing them on a paddle tail for instance over grass... i try to tell myself to throw somethign else... maybe a fluke... maybe a trigged beaver if were going slow enough.... things like that. you know hoping to catch some that hes missing, or ones that werent in the mood for the presentation he is using. but then after 100yds of not really doing anything and hes still catching them... i switch to what hes doing and just hope he misses spots. its not very productive and im constantly being "Front boated". i guess my weakness is developing my own plan when im not making all the decisions. that and jigs.... why cant i catch fish on them? wth?
  10. ive used them for a good long time and i gotta say.... for weightless wacky fishing or the like the zeros dont sink as fast as the other senko's... so i liked to use them over shallow grass. i LOVED the zero rigged texas with a light sinker or the best ever is carolina rigged. theyre great baits and they (like most lures) have their own little niche that they fill perfectly.
  11. ;D hahahahahahah yo zuri, man.... and maybe stop using 8lb test for pike. go to 12 at least.
  12. i like the parasite weights... 1/2oz for pitchin light to the bank. esp beavers.
  13. i like to c-rig them by dragging them along the bottom. as opposed to hopping it.
  14. not really... i mean.... ive caught fish 15 feet down on a c-rig lizard. theyre a great bait and truthfully a "realistic" prey for bass in the sense of salamanders and lizards.
  15. i have like... 6 ugly sticks and 5 of them have cork handles.
  16. what? no. run the tag line of your filler spool through the plastic part you took off to get to the guts... thats the "levelwind" then just tie the line to the spool with a good little arborknot. then put that metal part back on it.. thats the bail. put it all together and keep a little tension on it when you start to reel it on. the little pin relies on the line being tight against the "bail " so it needs a little tension to get the line on there. easy as pie. i used baitcasters most of my life till about 8 years ago or so.
  17. id tell you to get a quantum incyte.... but i dont think bps carries them.
  18. i like flw. then bassin and i have recently got into bass times. bassmaster is alright but i agree with others about its content sometimes. infisherman doesnt do it for me. i know that its a great mag and very well put together and informative... but its just not related to me in anyway. even the bass articles are written in a "northern waters" slant. though many things can be learned and applied to my own water... sometimes its alot more tech. specific to situations i never encounter.
  19. i esp. love it when fishing bottom lures or lures that constantly get hit on the fall. t-rig, c-rig, senko. my spinning rig is left handed too of course and so drop shotting and shaky heading also. really... i throw cast and retrieve lures -spinnerbaits,topwaters,cranks- right handed out of habit. at this point its just to give my left hand a break.
  20. you can send that "useless line" to me if it doesnt work out.
  21. i have a daiwa reel on a convergence... and a daiwa on a compre. i love them both.
  22. i really like the gammy skip gap hooks. they hold onto even the softest plastics with ease. i esp. like them for "moving" plastics like flukes and paddletails and toads.
  23. i think those would be great for "split shot" rigs.... insted of split shots. i prefer the long cylindrical 3/4 oz. weights on my c-rig. i get through wood and rocks decently and they rule on humps with grass. some like egg weights and others like bullets. i think its mostly egg weights offer more feel... and bullet weights come through cover better. like i said i like the long skinny ones.
  24. personally i would toss a 1oz. gold spoon and hop it along the drop off at a 45 degree angle. you work the heck out of that ledge with that. i do real well with gold blades in tannic water. (esp. cypress lakes)
