W+M Skeet Reese rod VS. Bass Pro Shops CarbonLite rod
the guy i fish with got one (skeet reese) and c-rigged with it. now he has three. he uses revo sx's and he loves the rig. i tried it out and was considering getting one too. we can get them at cost though. i wanna point out though that bassinajar said that it was a "crankin" rod which is made with glass and is supposed to be more forgiving than the carbonlite worm rod. but yeah i think the tips on the SR are a bit soft....

Another C-Rig Question
long overhand casts are all about throwing the sinker... not the bait. if you cast lke youre throwing the bait... your rig will helicopter and not only not go as far...it will twist your line too. i two hand overhead cast any leader that is up to 2.5ft. long. after that it gets tricky and depending on the wind and angle, i may try to cast slightly more sidearmed. this is with a 3/4 -1oz. weight. i typically keep my leader between 20 and 30 inches though. i think thats a good "long-ish" length. rember to sweep and drag your lure sideways till you find some cover... then shake or very lightly hop around the cover. setting the hook on a c-rig should be a sideways sweep when possible.

tv/internet options for the classic?
I think that some people here think that there are a lot more people wanting to watch the Classic than there actually are. yeah cause id much rather watch 10 year old basketball games in the middle of the day on a saturday on espn. :

Non-boater Tackle Bag questions
i recently switched to an ockechobee flats bag that holds 5 or so 3700's and 2 3600's. it is pretty big and super heavy. however... i have been out quite a few times with it now and its the absolute most i can get away with. it fits between my legs (barely) and holds everything i need. this is rec fishing with my partner though. i have not attempted to use it in a tourney in someone other than his boat. i would probably scale it down to a 3600 size bag if i had a complete plan of the days fishing. much like i try to take only 4 rods. "figuring it out when we get there" or "a little of everything" is a very frustrating plan to give a nonboater. lol.

In need of spinnerbait storage
i have the fto binder and i cant figure out how to get the thing to hold a spinnerbait. its really nice though. scorcher, i have and still occasionally use a cd wallet to hold spinnerbaits. get one at goodwill or the flea market or whatever for a dollar. they work great and fit anywhere... and theyre cheap.

Does anyone else have this problem?
well, when developing calluses playing guitar and bass... some guys put superglue on their fingers till their calluses develop fully. this may temporarily solve your problem. if not.. using some type of glove like others mentioned. i agree you should tighten your breaks a bit. i have mine tight enough that i dont even have to touch the spool except on entry. i cast just fine and plenty far.

need help - haven't had a new rod in almost 30 yrs.
Ive never used a cork handled graphite ugly stick before, and to be honest wasn't even aware they made them. I think this thread illustrates the point of Bass Resource, there is an incredible amount of knowledge and experience on this site. Its fantastic that a group of people who are by their very nature competitive, are willing to lend advice to others. thank you ! glad i could help. alot of people dont really know about ugly sticks except that they are walmart/ shakespear rods and must suck. they only know the older classic eva foam rods that are $30. truth is they are just fine and last forever. there are even new split grip ugly sticks. (inshore select) i like the graphite lites and i use them exclusively in saltwater. theyre just tougher and handle the work better. not to mention cheaper than my shimanos. lol.

Pegging Bullet Weights
they have them in black i know. i love em. been using them for about two years now... maybe not that company... but the exact same thing.

Quantum® Kevin VanDam Signature Series Baitcast Reels
yes. ive had mine for a few years now. i have nothing bad to say about it. its small, light and smooth. i have the 7.0 and throw paddletails and spinnerbaits on it. it easily casts a 6" paddletail with a 3/16oz weight. the braking on it is so so. theres only four setings... but you really only need two. on or off. lol. i typically leave it at "3". "2" if im pitching. its a good little reel that i got on sale for $100. now they are that much normally. if i needed another reel (i do not) and they went on sale i wouldnt hesitate to get another.

mann's jelly worm
is that weird? i throw zoom trick worms on shakey head jigs all the time. 8in worms on a 1/4oz jighead and your "powershaking". ;D

What bc reel to get?

3 rods, help choosing line
yes. sounds like a good plan. instead of flouro though... save yourself some money and get yozuri hybrid or ultrasoft . youll be happy you did.

Pinnacle Cranking Reel...?
completely unrelated.... man, paul elias is awesome. love the 3 pinnacles i own...solenes.... keep it up.

Need help with weedy places
submerged grass is a florida specialty. lol. swim any paddle tail worm (ding aling, gambit, zoom speed worm), color of your choice..here its wtrm/red or junebug... over and through the grass with a 3/16oz bullet sinker. absolutely deadly.

Texas Rigged Worms
ive been doing really well with trick worms myself lately... but another good producer has been the zoom gtail in watermellon/red flake and magII's in black or black and blue. i personally have been throwing a black and blue rage craw on my tx rig with decent results.

Another "tell me what to buy" thread...
..........and there you go. thats easily 200 dollars.

Accurist pt or Code
depends on the model. bps has them as such... kinetic pt -119 reax and kvd sig - 169 energy -189 tour edition - 259 these are all the "new" styles/models. you can get the older discontinued ones like the accurists and such for about 100 bucks or less if you look around. i got my tour editon (blue one) a while back for $100. mostly because it was left handed. i got both my accurists for $80.

Texas Rig / Shakey Head / Drop Shot Combo?
on the MUCH cheaper side of things.... for the exact same techniques your are looking to do... i use a shimano clarus 7' ml/fast with a quantum incyte 40 reel. the rod is soft enough to throw anything... but its fast tip and 1/4oz rating give it enough rear end to do the job well. the incyte is the best reel you can get for $50 and if you can get it on sale... even better. this whole rig (seperately) i got on sale for around $80.

BAUGHT MY FIRST BASS BOAT
nice boat! im looking to get one just like it actually. how much did you get it for? if you dont mind telling....

need help - haven't had a new rod in almost 30 yrs.
from just an objective walmart stand point... a cork handled graphite ugly stick paired with the pinnacle solene is a great rig. this will run you more than a hundred bucks though. the "sensitivity" of the mid level (cork handled walmart) ugly sticks is appalingly underrated. if i can catch sheepshead on it... you can certainly catch a bass on it. a 6" bass cant bite softer than a 16" sheepie!! i promise. i have to agree with others. in your situation... you should shoot for an extreme combo at bps. and maybe even better... if you can find it on sale or something... last years pro qualifier combo.
-
Shimano Compre rods...
what a great bargin!!! the rods you just got will ruin you forever one getting others at higher prices. you will now have to "talk yourself into" a crucial. congrats! id use that 6'10 for t-rigs and jigs... but thats just me.

Accurist pt or Code
another quantum hater. nice. get the pt. my accurist pt is great in everway and quite honestly... my accurist pts (saltwater) easily casts as smooth and far... if not farther... than my pt tour edition. esp since i can control the accurist while the pt tour is WAY better than me and i have to have the brakes up. i know nothing about the code except it APPEARS to be the kvd signature reel without his name on it. if it is then thats a good reel too. my kvd is light and smooth and easy to cast. its also lasted 3 years or more now with narry a hint of a problem. what more can you ask? esp. for the money?

Which one would be a better choice for me?
*shrug* i too love my frogg toggs.

Mann's Baby 1-Minus
Does this affect hooking at all? i havent noticed any difference. im not the only one that does this either... ive heard pros talk about doing it too. bass that are up as shallow as the 1minus is fished rarely pussyfoot around with it. i get good hard hits and just as many hook ups as any other crank. when i first started doing it i only cut the front trebles forward facing hook for fear of missing strikes. it worked great. now i just do both and dedicate that lure to "heavy cover'.
