Suggestions for first real deal tackle box?
I have two Cabelas bags that I can squeeze (7) 3700's in the main compartment, a worm binder in each side pocket, and a 3600 in the front. Like the bag Burley recommended, the Cabelas bag is rated to hold (5) 3700's in the main compartment, but I can squeeze in 7. Regardless of the bag you choose, going with a 3700 system is the way to go. As you acquire more tackle, you can easily add more 3700 boxes (and inexpensively ), and just select the boxes condusive to the impoundment/conditions you will be fishing. I found mine at Cabelas for $29.99. I will add that I do use the Falcon hook and weight boxes, but I use standard Plano 3700's for everything else. Here is the one of my Cabelas bags...Bass Pro and Plano make a very similar one.

Does this sound like a good Setup?
Welcome aboard Dave. In short; I would go with something different. Shoot, for $270 you could score a Loomis IMX and a Revo S. The Loomis would come from Fat Fish Farmer of course, and the Revo you can buy from Bass Pro.

diawa steez rod and reel combos
Alot of rod companies will offer a similar sounding lifetime limited warranty on their higher end rods. but that means different things in different companies. Loomis will replace any rod for any reason at $50.00 plus shipping. If it's a defect they replace for free. The 50 bucks is the "idiot" part I spoke of, St. croix sent me a brand new tournament bass rod when I broke the reel seat from overtightening. Not a defect but yet another "idiot' move. It cost me $20.00 plus shipping. When I start hearing stories about guys closing thier truck doors on thier new $350.00 steez rod and Daiwa replaces it for 50. then we can talk. by the way, the reel is fabulous. I'm willing to take that risk! I won't turn down a date with a gorgeous woman because she may break my heart 8-).

Bored on Sunday, so I bought two JDM Steez rods.
The Ouachita is an extra-heavy 7'3" cue; the new worm rod will be a 7' medium-heavy designed just for the US market, and will be released at ICAST in July. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewdaiwainside07.html

Bored on Sunday, so I bought two JDM Steez rods.
I'm waiting until early summer to add the new 7' MH Compile-X worm rod they are introducing just for the American market. These rods are more addictive than 99.9% pure Columbian candy!

Storm Chugbug
One of the best topwaters ever made. They pop, spit, and walk all at the same time. Chug Bugs are a must have in your topwater arsenal

round bend and ewg treble hooks
I use Daiichi 4x trebles exclusively, and buy them in 100pks from Cabelas. You save quite a bit of money when you pay $23.99 for 100 hooks versus $5 for the 8 or 9 hooks that come in a filler pack.

Lucky Crafts we don't like?
The Live Pointer hasn't impressed me. Neither has the Flat CB MR, which I think the Bandit Flat Maxx works as well or better. The Lucky Craft baits to buy are the Gunfish for topwater, the Pointer and Slender Pointer for Jerkbaits, the Moonsault, Fat CB, and RC for cranks, and the LV500max traps. It's a tie between the RC 1.5, BDS 2, and Moonsault cb100 for which crank has caught me the most bass...all three lay it down on the water I fish.

So we were cleaning out the garage tonight....
How much do you want for those Rogues?! I'll trade you two new Lucky Crafts for the two unopened Smithwicks if you are interested...

diawa steez rod and reel combos
The Steez rods are indeed pretty amazing. I pulled the trigger on one, and three more soon followed. I've been a die hard Loomis guy for a couple of years now, but the Steez are just so light and balanced, and I love the air foam grips.

OK, I'm sold on LC!
Awesome...sounds like you are enjoying it! Nice things are fun to own, whether it be a nice car, nice clothes, or a high quality Japanese crankbait. It's just a bonus that they catch fish as well 8-).

You guys are crackin' me up ;D.

PHOENIX BLAZE RODS
I would run far, far away. Any rod company that tries to convince me super-low modulous graphite (24mil modulous im-6) is the way to go and far superior to high modulous/high strain graphite should definitely raise a red flag . Here is a quote from their ebay auction... "All rods are made from 24 ton graphite (IM6), because most agree that higher module graphite is not only inferior in casting control, flexibilty, and durability, but also the much higher cost does not justify the teeniest of weight reduction and supposed sensitivity. Also, higher modulus graphite rods tend to break more often than IM6 because they are more brittle." Teeniest weighty reduction?! Supposed sensitivity? ;D ;D ;D

Spiderwire G-String
I was playing around with this line at Academy yesterday. The line felt very much like the Pline Evolution...low memory with seemingly very low stretch. Anybody tried it? Sure looked like a winner...

Favorite baitcasting setup...
Isn't that the truth ;D. Right now it is my 6' M Steez paired with a pixy. It is sneaking up on Jerkbait season you know .

What's better than a Steez baitcaster?
I have two of the 7'1" Compile X's, and the 6' M SVF. The next time I head to Cabelas, I will ****** a 6'7" 8-). The tips of these rods are so light, they want to shoot in the air. I honestly believe they will add action to my jigs and worms due to their extrordinary balance. We'll see. I'm as impressed as I ever have been with a rod up to this point!

What hooks do yall use for plastics?
I use round bend straight shank Owner hooks for most T-rigged worms. For thicker plastic baits such as lizards and brush hogs, I usually go with an EWG. For Senkos, I use the Texposer stickbait hooks (I highly recommend those!). I'm working offset round bend hooks into the rotation for C-rigs, but this is a newer project.

Tackle you do not use but bring anyway??
I usually take one of my bags with me on a tournament, and each bag holds about 7 or 8 3700's plus worm binders. I use maybe 2% on average, but fishing as a non-boater; I need to be prepared to fish anything and everything!
-
Lets see your tackle!
My backstock looks like more money in baits than it really is. I only buy what I need, unless it is on clearance, and is something I will definitely use in the future. I paid roughly $1 for all the bags of plastic baits except for the Yamamoto's, which were about 60% off. I just wanted to clear up any false pretenses that I am well off, which I am not. I'm just simply a smart shopper, and spend $50 a month on bargains (it's kind of a hobby of mine ) I graduated college, got married, and started building a house all in the past year. That doesn't equate to a whole bunch of extra cash

How low can the Steez go?
After reading Tackle Tour's first impression; I don't know how you couldn't want one! "Are you one of those who would absolutely love your Daiwa Pixy were it not for its finesse drag or shallow line capacity? Do you love your Alphas Ito Ai but wish it had the clicking drag adjustment and spool tension knob? Did you miss the boat on the 2004 Limited Edition Type R+ reel and wish you could still get one - easily? Have you been wondering, why doesn't Daiwa just make a regular production reel with the Type R+ tuned rotor? Well, I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but the Daiwa Steez just may be the answer to your dreams."

favorite crankbait line?
I use 8 and 10lb Clear Pline CXX.

What's better than a Steez baitcaster?
That's because you haven't held or fished with one yet . There is a reason I own three and am getting ready to order my 4th.

finally found one!
Wow...3/16oz is as small as I go, although that size may be my favorite. I have stuck numerous prespawn bass with a 3/16oz baby boo bug in Black/Red flash paired with a modified baby brush hog.
