first bass on jig!
I think he was referring to the first fish more than the big one. I'd have to say that 2-3 pounds is definitely a stretch. That second fish is a hog though! Look at the mouth on that sucker... Awesome catch! Haha well me and my friend have determined that our scale is about 2 pounds, so im thinking that 11 pounder was about 9 and the 3 was about 1 and a half b/c it actually read 3 and 1/2 which i knew was wrong.

first crankbait!
If you don't add ballast, it's nothing more than a piece of wood. Can i not do the drilling a hole and putting a 1/8 egg sinker in there?

first bass on jig!
Yes, it was pretty amazing how i texas rigged an old monster and didnt catch anything and then throw out there a small jig compared to the old monster and catch that thing? It didnt make sense but yes I can't wait to go buy some different jigs and stuff. ;D

first bass on jig!
This thing was a monster! and just because we use a crappy spring scale thats older than mcdonalds doesnt mean we need one that gives us correct readings. I happen to like the ones it gives us juuuuuust fine! haha

first bass on jig!
So today me and my friend went out fishing because it got a little warmer today and around 430 i threw on a jig with a rage tail craw just to see if i could catch anything because I've never caught anything on one and given it so much time out on the water so i throw it and caught this little bass less than a pound big but i was still exicted because i wasnt expecting anything from a jig. So i get that jig stuck in a tree and had to cut my line so i get another one that had on a rage tail chunk on it and a couple casts later my line takes off and it was a nice 2 to 3 pound bass! Couple casts later i caught this 11 pound monster! It was crazy the first day I've ever caught a bass on a jig i caught 3 in one day! Not to mention 1 was a good size and the other was a freaking hawg! I was just using the jigs like i use t-rigged worms, horizontal to vertical with my rod. It was crazy! baby 3 pounder nessy:)

first crankbait!
I'm going to start my first crankbait. I went to buy some materials and i have the coping saw, some sand paper, and all i could find is a block of basswood. All of the balsa wood was only in sheets! But i would like to make a prop bait, since i got my skitter prop stuck on a drain a few weeks back. Is there anything different i need to do with a prop bait? Right now I'm just going to design it and cut it out and sand it down and drill holes and order the other materials online thursday. So is there anything different I need to do for it or is it basically like doing a crankbait just w/o the lip? Any advice is great! thanks

crankbait making
I want to start getting into making cranks, wake baits, and swim baits. I have been looking into it on here and looking through all those sticky posts and others but havn't really found what I'm looking for. I'm going to have to be starting from scratch with no tools or anything. Is there a list someone can give me of what all i will need, including any kind of tool. Thanks!

Carolina Rig
Would this be good to use in cold weather? I went fishing this morning and it was freezing cold and i didnt even get a bite. I didnt even see any fish for that matter. But I tried everything that would be good to use in cold water and got nothing. Would a carolina rig be any good?

Cavitron?
I think you should put a small one on to be safe. The first night i used my cavitron i had 2 what felt like big bass but they ended up shaking it loose. And it happened twice i was pretty upset so i put some trailor hooks on mine and now i never miss a fish. A couple of times the fish was only hanging on to the trailor hook. So to be safe i would go ahead, i mean it wouldnt hurt.

new goodies!
I just got some trick worms, rage tail shads, and some berkely powerbait 4in chigger craws. For starters could someone post a pic of the rage tail shads rigged? I have mine rigged on a 4/0 EWG hook weightless and they dont seem to run to well. How should you retrieve them? Secondly, what is the best way to rig the trick worms and craws and how should htey be retrieved? I bought some spot removers they seemed like they might be good with the trick worms?

What next?
I just got my medium heavy action rod and reel so i'm not sure what the next thing i should get it. I'm debating on either JJ's Magic, soft plastics from *, or a couple big swimbaits for my new rod. Help me out which one would you get first?

live blue gill
ahhah me and my friend both caught 7 pounders tonight. Its so much fun but man that thing was hard to real in.
-
live blue gill
"Only" 5 lbs? Illegal where I fish but I get 6" Golden Roaches and catch some pigs the same way. ahha well 5 pounds is a lot to me the only reason i said only 5 pounds is b/c it was the second 5 pounder i caught doing this the day after i caught the first one. And we had a 10 pounder on the line but he got loose so i figure if your using blue gill as bait 5 pounds is probably the smallest bass you'll catch.

live blue gill
haha its probably the most exciting way to fish though! And the size of the blue gill really depends on how big of a bass you want to catch! Me and my friend had a decently small on and a full size blue gill and one probably 4-5 pounder ate teh smaller one then the other one took off and he pulls up the rod and it was a monster bass that ate the full size blue gill. He ended up loosing it but we saw it with the blue gill in its mouth it was crazy. But we use a 5/0 hook and go from inside his mouth up where i guess the nose would be. Its so exciting!

live blue gill
Me and my friend caught small blue gill tonight and put it on a 4/0 hook and used it as live bait. threw it out there a ways and reeled it in a little and saw a big bass follow it up so i threw it back out there and he sucked that fish in. It was only about 5 pounds but it was still exciting.
