Is it possible to use nothing but baitcast gear for everything??
I bought my first BC in August 08, Quantum E760PT matched with a Quantum Tournament rod. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to use my favorite 1/8 ounce spinner-bait with the BC. Rod and reel are rated 1/4 ounce or higher with 12lb mono, however, after putting it to the test one day, I've found that by adjusting the brakes and tension I cast cast pretty much whatever I want with just as much accuracy as 1/4 ounce or higher lures.

Stationed in Quantico VA, May is my 22 year mark and retirement. I should have plenty of time to fish come then.

Gearing teeth noticable after relube
I am using Quantum Hot Shot oil and grease, and had the same results after cleaning and re-lubing a quantum spin reel. I don't think you have anything to worry about, although there may be some new sound or feel to the gears, the quality of the lubricants can make that much of a difference.

Browing baitcast reels
I've used my friends Browning Midas and it is a very sturdy reel, the brake system isn't simple to adjust, internal and seems fragile.

Baitcaster Casting Problems
Practice!?! However, after I bought my baitcaster, I practiced probably twice, got intimidated and let it set for about three weeks. In the meantime, I read every article, and viewed every video I could find on successfully using it. The next time I "practiced", I had pretty good control and accuracy. I basically studied the technique. My friend who was practicing almost daily started asking me questions, now we have it figured out, but yeah, we still get the occasional backlash and overruns. I am definitely no pro, but I can now use it with confidence. Is there a place where you can trade in all of your spinner reels for baitcasters

Newbie, sorta
Although I signed up here about a month ago, I'm a newbie to the forums. 39yrs old, 5 kids, 2 dogs, fishing is priceless therapy (oh, and a wife). A good friend of mine (memo43, both of us are Marines) introduced me to this web site. I grew up in Alaska, Alabama, spent time all over the U.S. and fished in every place I've lived, in every water type. Up until this past August, all my life I have used night crawlers to catch bass. For some odd reason I decided to finally buy a baitcaster, another friend of mine recommended Quantum, so I baught a Quantum E760PT and Quantum rod, maybe not the best choice for a beginner, but I have learned very well on it. Memo43 and I have learned to use the baitcasters and artificial lures and baits to the point where we never leave the water without having caught bass. Bottom line, I have never caught so many bass, at such good sizes. I am in the process of educating my 11 year old daughter in the use of artificial baits as well, and she is catching on very well, she can jig better than me This forum is a great place to learn anything and everything about using equipment and catching bass. I fish mostly all of the lakes, ponds, rivers and streams accessible on Quantico. I am boatless right now, but that will soon change. So kudos to all of you willing to share your knowledge, memo43 was even given a baitcast rod and reel through this network of diehard hawg catchers. Thanks to all.

FALL+FULLMOON+CAVITRONS= SLAMFEST AGAIN LAST NITE
Nice hawgs! What color combos do you have the most strikes on. I fish 70% stained or slightly cloudy tributaries off of the Potomac river. Thanks,
