  1. Lake Waco is a good little lake imo . There is a lot of shallow wood cover and a little grass. Lakes Belton and Stillhouse are about 30-40 miles away. There are some good fish caught out of Stillhouse. Belton is more of a numbers lake. If I can help let me know.
  2. I voted other-Storm Chug Bug. Maybe not a true walking type bait, but it does walk very well and will also spit, pop, and chug.
  3. A fish stringer with three rainbow trout.
  4. I used to fish tailspinners a lot, but I've gotten away from it someway. I fish them like you said most of the time. They are very good in winter when fish are deep and your fishing a small bait. You want to keep slack out of your line when they are falling or the blade will not spin. They will also catch fish on a straight retreive. One of the best baits for schooling fish because you can throw them a mile.
  5. Where can I buy Diawa stock? Has to be up.
  6. I have been having pretty good luck lately fishing the chatterbait type lures with just a straight retreive. Especially at night .I was just wodering if anybody fished them like a jig. I am thinking mostly about jerking them up a couple feet and letting them fall back.
  7. Call (417)873-5274 That is Outdoor World rod and reel repair. It i s part of BPS and I have allways had good luck with them
  8. Man you can hold a grudge.Actually I didn't like it either. It didn't last verry long. That was about the time they parted ways with Ranger. I don't know if that was the cause but I'd bet it was.
  9. I'd give my left arm to be ambidextirous. It gets late early around here.
  10. In the 30-50 dollar range I would reccomend the Berkley Lightning Rod. They are supprisingly good rods for the money. I havent owned an ugly stick in a while but unless they have changed they are heavy and have no balance.
  11. A few years ago I fished a carolina rig with a dropshot tied on above the weight. Worked good too but I finally gave it up because it would get tangled about every third cast. I think this will be the same way.
  12. Soft plastics, because I am an old fart and lazy too. And they do catch fish.
  13. I've been a member since 1990. BASS used to do a lot of conservation and things like that. Not sure if they do anymore. I don't think much of the magazine anymore. They have p.o.ed a lot of people when they cut out the co-angler in the Elite series and now the Marshall thing has just made it worse. Having said all that I still keep my subscription. Mainly because I like to read when I go to bed at night.
  14. One of the baits I had snap at the wire was in fact a strike king pure poison. Although I do agree that the action is quite nice on these, I just can't bring myself to use one anymore without the fear of it breaking. Try Karu lures Vibrashock, there is no way these things are going to break. They also have a football head jig and the vibration is unreal.
  15. I thought the same thing at first, didn't catch much at all on chatterbaits. But then I tryed fishing them at dusk/night, black/blue with a black/blue hulagrub trailer. It Worked great. Give the chatterbait another try, buy the original chatterbait in black/blue and use black/blue hulagrubs as a trailer, fish them primarily at dusk/ or in low light conditions. Then see if you still think it doesn't catch. Fish it exactly like you would a spinnerbait. I agree, I haven't caught much in the daytime but I don't beleive there is a better nighttime bait, I use a Manns Mosquito Hawk trailer. My bost overrated is a rattletrap.

Check austinbassfishing there should be several on there
  17. I have 4 of the extreme rods 7ft med.hvy. I use them for plastics, jigs, and sincos. I like them just fine but I have never used a real high dollar rod. I have had 4 of the little round chrome reels for at least 6 years , no problems. I have 2 Rick Clunn reels that I really like. I have 1 extreme reel that broke something inside a couple of years ago. I sent it back to BPS for repair. It took a couple of months to get it back but they didn't charge me a cent. They even payed the return postage.
  18. Berkley Gulp turtleback worm in bluefleck Berkley fliptail worm Berkley powerworm Zoom finnesse worm
  19. One guy that I like to watch that wasn't listed is Joe Thomas. He just seems like a real person. Makes you realize how hard it is to be a professional fisherman. You see him fishing when he is sick and discouraged because he pretty much has to. He has never won a BASS tournament but watch him and you realize he is still scary good.
  20. I read an article in Bassmaster a few years ago, and I can't remember who the pro was, maybe Bill Dance? Anyway he said if there are 500 shad in a school would you want your bait to look just like the shad or would you want it to look different? I think there are times when you do need to match the hatch but a lot of the times it needs to be different to get bit.
  21. Well it's not a very long list. Bandit 200- I caught fish on this thing even in Jan. and feb., best colors were yellow spring craw and khaki-brown back Berkley worms, the powwer worm, flip tail worm andGULP turtleback worm. Colors were blue fleck, motor oil and tequila sunrise. Charrerbaits and the Karew vibrashock. Mostly at night or early morning. Color, black and blue. Baby 1- , caught a few in the spring in 1-2 ft of water.
  22. In Texas we have the Lone Star Share a Lunker program. If you catch a bass over 13lbs you can donate it to the Texas fishiries dept. and they will use it for breeding, they give you a fiberglass replica plus other prizes. It's not likely to happen, but I carry the number in my wallet just in case.
  23. Usually only once or twice a month. Funny, when I worked I went 3-4 times a week, now I'm retired I don't get to go near as much. I can't go by myself for health reasons and I keep my granddaughter 5-6 days a week.
  24. Just about all my reels are BPS of one kind or another. I have four of the little round chrome reels they used to sell. I've had them at least eight years, no problems. I have two of the Rick Clunn reels that I really like. I have one extreme that I've had five or six years. Last year something broke inside it. I sent it back to BPS for repair. The parts were backordered and it took awhile to get it back but they didn't charge me a penny, even paid the shipping.
  25. Being somewhat horizontaly challenged I like the 6ft. Its just a lot easier to work the bait.
