  1. Fighting frog in talapia. Post spawn fav!!
  2. Bassmagnet, not to be the bad guy here, but we kind of have an unwritten rule. You have to give a little to get a little:) Vaparrothead might be nice enough to give up that info in this post or he might even be nice enough to PM you the info. NOVA is a fairly small place and some of its waters are small as well. I'm sure he doesn't want anyone to blow up his spot.
  3. The res we fish on has certain areas that are what we now refer to as community holes, everyone knows about them and they do produce numbers as well as size. Guys will run directly to these in tx's and stay all day hoping to catch a big bag. This does not always work. I'll check in with some of them and find that normally we can fish 10 spots to the one they are on and usually have better results! Look for similarities and find your own "regular" spot!!
  4. Firm believer in C&R. Tried rejuvinade, with mixed results, more bad than good. Used please release me for a while but catch and release seems to work better for me. It's not like you just sprinkle it in and forget about it. You need to pay attention thru the day and monitor the conditions in your live well. I add frozen ice bottles thru the day as needed and try to maintain a temp about 10* below the surface temp.
  5. My inlaws live in LaCrosse, I've fished the main river and some of the slews close to the city and on the Minnesota side as well. Lots of nice fish to be had. I would ask how they fish the main river as opposed to the backwater areas if they change tactics or baits for each!
  6. Nice. Sounds like you had a good time!
  7. The beautiful state of Virginia, yes. The NVRPA, not sure!
  8. Sounds like allergies to me as well. Trees and grasses are probably running rampant in Canada right about now ehy?!!
  9. Sasquatch........... Definitely Sasquatch
  10. Huntsman has been my hidden little gem, I can't begin to tell you how many 5-6 lb fish I have caught from there in the past 6 or 7 years. Probably more than all the other lakes I fish combined. I will be sad when its all drained and I have to find another lake to dissect!
  11. Such a shame to have to do that to a nice little lake. I understand why, just wish they could find a way to do it without disturbing an already established good fish population.
  12. There are no water moccasin's here in northern va. Possibly a water snake, similar in coloration. The project is said to take 6-8 months.
  13. If you google lake huntsman you can find a clip of them electro shocking the bank lines. It says they transferred 800-1000 lbs of fish. Also said it was a healthy fishery with lots of fish in the 2-4 lb range. Was out there yesterday and caught 2 fish around 3lbs each. I'm sure they missed quite a few good fish that were not relating to the banks. As they drain it, it should be interesting to see what they missed!!
  14. That is my buddy that fishes the res tx's. His is one of the bigger fish I've seen but there was another one! Here is the other one.
  15. I've seen bigger caught on rod and reel out of Pohick, posted a pic on another thread, can't remember which one tho!!
  16. Mercer is good, I don't pay it too much attention after the spawn. Burke lake on the otherhand is a great lake! I like to fish it in late November to ice up. Big fish can be had in numbers if you can find them. Locate the brush piles and drag big jigs! It can be lights out on the right day. You can also get into some nice walleye and the occasional muskie.
  17. Blue, that's a scrounger. You shouldn't throw those, they don't work.........
  18. You guys need to check out Haber. Beautiful glasses that don't break the bank!
  19. Technically, theoreticly, mentally, emotionally South side. Born and raised Va! When I cross state lines headed North, I get nauseous!
  20. Bite was kind of slow. Fished down lake and caught 20 or so between my friend and I. Fish caught shallow and deep. No real big fish 3.5 was the biggest. Few break offs and jumping fish throwing baits. Water was in great shap considering. Dirty up lake near Ryan's and much cleaner down lake.

Sometimes it's tough to be the bigger person in your situation. Be the bigger person, like others have said, your boys should be #1 right now so be happy with them, enjoy the new GF when possible and when confronted with having to have anything to do with the hopefully, soon to be divorced ex!, be civil.
  23. Try to make an effort to eat well (veggies, fruit, balanced diet) and make sure you stay well hydrated. I started doing this (especially the water) and was amazed at how much better I feel at the end of each day. Fast food is easy and I'm sure being on the road makes it the best option some times but try it for a week and see if it helps. Just a thought!
  24. It can be a little tricky to get back up in there but often times it will be well worth it. You should be casting up into areas that you would swear you would see the backs of fish but they are there. Pay close attention to stumps and vertical structure. Good luck. Also check out the ends of the islands with shakey worms and small jigs.
  25. 14.68, happy with that! Get shallower than 5' cause its always deeper than you think! You will be amazed at how shallow these fish will get this time of year!
