  1. Nothing like being the new kid on the block and making a good first impression!!
  2. Kut tail worms from yami or kinami, small RI flirt worms work well too!
  3. Got out on the potty yesterday evening with a buddy and fished around the spoils/ww bridge/blue plains area and had a blast! Caught some nice green fish in the spoils and ended the night with some striper fun in the poop! Caught about 35 in less than an hour with a couple in the 7lb range. Easily could have had many more, hook ups on every cast. You could literally drop the bait right under the boat and pop it off the bottom a couple times and be hooked up, crazy fun. A few times you could see 2-3 other fish with the hooked fish and you could toss right in behind and get one, many times it would be a much larger fish!
  4. Heck yea! Try a beaver style bait on 20lb floro, peg a 1/2oz weight and punch away!
  5. I usually fish down by the dam. Park on golden ball tavern and walk on down!
  6. Not since February probably. Most of my time is now spent on the res or at huntsman!
  7. A friend showed me this area and wow is it fun! Lots of willing fish with size as well. Caught fish all thru the winter on small jigs!
  8. Maybe in your mind you are the only one doing it! Been fishing LB for 15+ years and ever since the pads started to pop up lots of people do it! That lake used to have nice grass in it before they dropped all the carp in there.
  9. Just make sure it doesn't get infected! I'm sure a nasty sweaty sock won't harbor any bacteria at all!!
  10. Uh oh........ Shimmy does not like it when you exaggerate! Either it was or it wasn't! Remember, there are those of us that will call you out in a hurry for just an educated guess!! jk!
  11. Sshhhhhhh............ Are you crazy!! You can't catch fish at LB doing that. You must have fallen down and bumped your head!!!
  12. Burke lake 7-4 3/4 and I can not keep telling people what I caught it on! Had a DD hooked up and lost it at the boat from Burke as well! Had a smallie from the res that went just a hair over 4 and another hooked up that looked to be close to 6! Biggest smallmouth was in Wisconsin well over 5
  13. I would love to get on a boat with you Wayne to see how you decipher the images with the SI units. I truly think it is something that I could really use to my advantage on the occoquan reservoir! With all of the different types of habitat the res has, I think it would really be helpful in understanding what makes that place tick!!
  14. Unfortunately, unless you have the ability to get to deeper water with better o2 levels, your chances of finding quality fish right now is low. Adjust your fishing to winter like patters. Water temps like we have now force the fish to feed less because their metabolism slows down. Fish are still there, it just takes a slower presentation and getting a reaction strike. Fish will still feed, just in smaller windows of opportunity. Try nighttime!
  15. Sam, what would you be doing specifically with a smart phone and narrow down your choices from there. I think like technique specific combos, what works best for you. I have the iPhone 4 and it does what I need it to do for my work and lifestyle.
  16. Thanks, it was a fun day. We were catching these fish in 20-28 feet of water! Thankfully we had some fin weights to keep them upright in the livewell!
  17. Most of the time I try to match, I'm more concerned with action than color.
  18. It was a brutally hot tx day on the res and we had a couple of spots we thought might produce for us, but we certainly didn't expect what happened next. Got to the first spot and totally blanked, not even a nibble. Checked in on a coue of old faithful spots with just as much success. Talked to a couple of buddies that had a couple keepers and they were fishing deeper so we adjusted at our next spot and caught a good keeper. We decided to run to the spot I was most confident in, knowing it would probably have someone fishing it. Got there and it was like a ghost town so we were able to get set up right on it. We started fishing this spot at about 9:20 am and by 10:30 we had 20+ pounds on 6 fish! ( we do a buddy teams 6 fish limit ) It was an absolute crush fest! I felt bad for my partner because he was landing fish and weighing them and recording weights more than fishing!! Final weight was 25.71and we didn't have a fish over 5lbs, it was amazing. We have never caught more 4+ pound fish on one spot in our lives out there. Big thanks to matstone for hooking me up with the goodness!!
  19. Hey Andrew, long time since we have chatted over a nice cold one!! You can absolutely get to good spots in a yak. One of the best spots out there is Ryan's dam within sight of the ramp. Also the point right across from the ramp!
  20. Love the dime store Indian!
  21. I think non compete clauses are not valid in right to work states like here in Virginia.
  22. Year round for me. Warmer summer months on points and trees off banks into deeper water. Keep them moving and bang them off anything you can. If you have a main lake point that you have been catching fish from, give that thing a long cast and crank it down and jerk the dog snot out of it!!
  23. Yes, you should just pretend to be fun fishing, LOL! When you put yourself into the mix of competition, you may have a tendency to do things a little bit differently. With that being said, maybe you should work on being consistent. Don't be that try hard guy. You know how to do it, you have done it before, have the self confidence and know in your mind that what you do is correct. fishing behind a professional is a daunting task! I'm not sure they leave many to be caught by the co-angler! The best thing you can do is chalk it up to a learning experience and work on things that will make you a more rounded angler!
  24. ^^ Do you know anyone that lives in Ashburn? They could probably take you as a guest but like Bashcrusher said they do crack down on people that are not residents. I've never been out there to fish and it's very tempting, but a criminal trespassing charge is no joke!
  25. I have been catching quality and quantity from the res and Huntsman in the past few days. Football jig has been the most consistent producer with the fish absolutely mauling the bait! Find you some nice drops near deeper water and drag that thing around!!
