  1. Well, yea!! If it aint frozen, I'm trying'! Last year here in VA, was the best winter I can remember. Caught some awesome jb fish and some very good finess jig fish. Some of the highly pressured lakes here in NOVA can caugh up some studs in December/January (Burke Lake) Some of the ponds and lakes make finding concentrations of good fish very simple and easy to relocate from trip to trip. It's well worth the effort to fish in the winter.
  2. Sounds like you just needed to rant a bit and get this off your chest. Having been on both sides of fence, having the boss let you know the effort you put into your work is appreciated and also never getting a sniff of thanks from a self absorbed boss, my work ethic has never changed. Now that I have my own business, my efforts have been rewarded 10 fold! If you know you do good work, get paid for it and have work to be done, be happy that you have a job. Too many people in this economy would kill to have a job and steady paycheck. To be worried about the occasional thanks, might be wishful thinking. Keep on keeping on.
  3. If you want to run the big motor then yes, you know of all the places to go. If you want good fishing opportunities, look at some of the smaller places you can put your boat in but may be limited to TM only.
  4. Not sure this was a well thought out tx. Not sure the overall health of the fish has been taken into consideration for this event.
  5. Love the Tony Stark in the comments. Beside that, the hammer looks so real in the picture!! Very close to a Darwin moment!
  6. hmmmmm.................not sure I'm gonna be in that 5 star mood while making things happen in the woods!!
  7. Thanks Nitro and yes these are open tx's!
  8. Nitro, we had 20.95 lbs for 4th place. We do a 6 fish limit to make it more of a buddy tx friendly type of thing.
  9. Spent a lot of time going to watch bands at the 9:30 club in the early 80's in Washington DC. X, Circle Jerks,TSOL, Dream Syndicate, Hoodo Gurus, Minor Threat, Meat Puppets.............. Why doesn't anyone make music like that anymore??!!
  10. Wayne, nice piggy! It's Fredrick time in a couple months, up for it??
  11. Occoquan res is still on fire. Sundays tx, 6 teams over 20lbs, first place 24lbs! Lake Huntsman has been a little slow but can still catch at least one 4lber per every couple outings.
  12. Troy, I have a friend that swears he can get a crankbait to 20+ feet with braid and a flouro leader. Someone makes a braid with floro blended In so it sinks even more. He was getting that deep with he 6XD! Are these fish suspended or are they on the breaks at BDR? I have an idea that might work just as well as the deep diver. PM me!
  13. I'm pretty sure there was no holding back!!
  14. You should know by now that a long cast like that far exceeds the line capacity of the "can" rod/reel combo favored by the locals!!
  15. Glad you were able to get home in your families time of need. Not sure if I could have been as patient as you were thru the whole process, hope the wife gets better and nice for you to have a little quality time before you have to go back.
  16. I'm not sure what you are going to be doing with said CF material, unless you can somehow layer the material actually around the fastener, not sure the durability of the termination.
  17. Not sure how much work you have done with threaded inserts, but if you plan on using them with CF, not sure you are going to get the results you are looking for. You need a good tool to install/seat them properly and if you are trying to seat them in the CF, it's probably going to crack.
  18. I think I remember something like a poor mans patent, not sure if it's 100% legit but if you have the basic plans for your patent, seal it in an envelope, and mail it to yourself. This way you have a sealed package with postal stamp with a date. Not sure if that's all you need but I recall reading that somewhere. I'm sure someone here knows about patenting stuff, a lot of big brains ya nawhaimean!
  19. I would think step one would be to file a patent on your product.
  20. The obscure sports like team handball and archery get my attention. I wish there was more coverage of those!
  21. You are very welcome aj! Glad you and your dad were able to catch a couple! If you plan on fishing the res more, I would highly recommend you pick up a lake map and look for similar spots that produced for you and go exploring! It is a great fishery and it's hard to believe that it is so close to a large metropolitan area, enjoy!
  22. What makes you think no crawfish are in the water you fish? Look around the banks and turn over some rocks. Also you may find discarded remains from birds that feed on craws. Either way, there is no harm in trying something that resembles a craw!
  23. Have to say I have only fished hunting run but that place is amazing! It has been a couple of years since I fished it last and I wish they would bring the water level back down a little. Soooo many places for fish to hide but it was a blast the first year it was open. Water was very clear, you would have a 4lb fish on the line and look down and see 4-5 bigger fish swimming with it trying to get the bait!
  24. From the marina you can go to the right up the the big structure jutting out into the water. This is the old dam and fish right across the entire lake from side to side. Also the point directly across from the ramp is good with shakey and Carolina rigs
