Ohio - Little Miami River
Has anyone ever fished the Little Miami River off of Salem Rd/Canoe Ct? Canoe Ct actually drops you off in a parking lot which has trails down to the river. i stopped there tonight just to check it out and there were tons of branches and trees in the water. i am going to try this spot this weekend. anyone have any luck there?

what else can i do?
the lakes that i am able to fish from the shore are a series of lakes in hamilton county. each lake has a specific area that you are allowed to fish in. you cannot leave this area unless you have a boat. i thought about the fact that it may be over fished but wasnt sure. there are people lined up in this area with there hooks in the water. now i did go around 1:00pm, so did everyone else. i can change my time next time and see what happens. i need to find a lake that has no limits where you can go. all access i will try some wacky worm methods next time. thanks

what else can i do?
I went out once again today for about 2 hours. the final result of todays fishing was negative. zero bites and zero fish. there are a number of lakes here in the cincinnati area that i can try. in the past 3 weeks i have tried 3 of them. now i am limited to the locations i can fish since i am limited to shore fishing. if i rent a boat then i can get to the other side where fishers on feet cannot reach. but for this topic, ill stick to what im dong wrong if anything. i have tried crank baits (lipped/lipless), chatter baits and swim baits. i am getting no results what so ever. at what point do i say "i have no clue what im doing"? im not sure what else to try. i have tried a series of retreives, fast to slow.....nothing. now another thing. there is a good possibility that im dropping my line where there are NO BASS WHAT SO EVER. how the heck do you know? the water today was a greenish color, not clear at all i read how all these people catch these bass off of this type of bait. but as my signature quote says, im still trying to catch my first fish :-[ any advice or help would greatly be appreciated. i know i have a full summer to go of fishing and i will not give up but it is very frustrating.

correct way to fasten a buzzbait
is there a right and wrong way to tie your line to a buzzbait? i recently purchased a white buzzbait as well as a black buzzbait. i was going to use it the next time out. when it comes to tying your line onto that "bent angle bar", is there a right way to tie it so that it swims right side up? im not sure if im wording this correctly but......... lets just forget that question.......how do you tie your line onto a buzzbait? thats better

knot tying
there are actually two sets to pick from. one has a 12" ruler that is printed on the cards and one set does not have the ruler. i picked the ones without the ruler. these ones have very detailed pictures of the instructions as well as text to explain the knot a little bit. each knot does have a description when it is best to use that specific knot. im looking at the cards right now and it is very clear how to tie the specific knot. example for an "improved clinch knot" it says "a time-tested and popular knot for tying terminal tackle to monofilament line. Reliable and easy to tie in lines under 20 pound test." then it give 3 steps on how to tie this knot.

knot tying
I know that this has been posted on this site before BUT...................i was reading a thread about best knots to use and when. well in one of the threads i was referred to www.proknot.com. at this website they sell water proof cards with the 10 best knots used for fishing. i think i paid $6.49 for a set of them. they are even small enough to fit in a shirt pocket or tackle box. here are the knots that are offered in the card pack Improved Clinch Knot Surgeons Knot Palomar Knot Blood Knot Uni Knot Double Uni Knot Rapala Knot Surgeons End Loop Dropper Loop Perfection Loop i just received mine in the mail today. highly recommend!!! very cool cards, useful at that!!! 8-)

has anyone ever used these easy release hooks?
I saw these online. has anyone ever used them? if it is a lot better on the fish for those catch and release anglers, then why not? to me, it seems like it would be for the perfect world of fishing. not all fish are going to swallow the hook the same way. thoughts? http://www.sheltonproducts.com/sheltonrelease.html

attaching crankbait to fishing line
i have been noticing that some people use snaps and swivels to attach there crankbaits to their line. at this moment i am tying the line straight to the crank. besides the "time" it takes to swap out baits, what are the advantages? is it better practice to use a swivel and snap rather than the straight tying method? if it matters, i use 3/8-1oz crank baits.

first time out with new rod/reel - backlash!!!!
Well. today i had a great day fishing!! the weather was 60 degrees and sunny. 2nd time that i used my baitcaster. i used some lipless cranks, football heads and plastic worms. i casted my line out about 100 times (easily) here is the outcome 3 hour boat rental - $35 bottle of fuel - $1.50 (pepsi) 100 casts with NO BACKLASH and a few fish bites - PRICELESS although i did not catch anything, i did have a few bites, which i can honestly say is a lot better than what i had in the past. for not ever having caught a fish, i will take a bite over nothing at all. thanks to all that have helped me in learning how to fish a baitcaster. it has definitely paid off. thanks guys, i will try again next weekend, weather permitting ;D
