  1. I know last fall the michigan DNR did finally recognize that there are living populations in the state. They were very slow to announce this, but they did eventually give in when multiple sitings and videos were taken of the animals. They have not estimated the population and have said by all accounts that it is very small. I have seen cougars on two occasions in calhoun county. Both of them in the same area and may very well be the same cat. We have tried to get pictures both times, but when we got back with the camera it was gone.
  2. try wandering over to the iboats forums. There will be a ton of info there and plenty of advice from many people who have done the same thing. I will warn you that pictures would definitely be helpful and they will probably ask for them.
  3. Thanks for the ideas, keep the coming if you have them. I am trying to talk the wife into the car smashing one. It would be appropriate since this is a fireman's festival and they do demonstrations with the jaws of life and such.
  4. This question all depends on what kind of boat you are going after. If you are looking at a small aluminum boat with a basic trailer and a small trolling motor your might be alright. If you are looking at a 16-18 footer with a motor and all you might be over the weight. Either way play it safe and give yourself plenty of time to stop and go. Good luck.
  5. Great idea, just going to be competing with the local fireman as they have a chicken fry. Keep em coming.
  6. I was once told by someone who works for the USPS, that their tracking service is usually only accurate for delivery. It will tell you when it was delivered, but tracking will only work if the item was scanned at every post office stop and most are not. Most of the time the package is just kept moving instead of them scanning it at the locations.
  7. My wife has joined the board at our local pre-school. Each year in the town I live there is a small festival and the preschool uses that time for a fundraising activity (as do many other organizations). The last few years they have spent a ton of money with very little results. They are brainstorming right now so I thought I would ask and see if anyone else has good ideas. I think they are targeting the kids since they are a preschool, but other ideas would be great. Most definitely has to be family oriented. Looking for something that is less costly to maximize the revenue generated. If you have ideas thanks.
  8. That is a great quote. Wish more people would pay attention to it.
  9. Congrats.....sounds like your life is in full rollercoaster mode right now. Enjoy them while they are little, soon they will be bringing boys home and asking for the car.
  10. I have never had a dispute with paypal, but if you purchased with a credit card or a debit card you may have other options. If you paid with a credit card you have consumer protections.....you will have to fill out the paperwork and follow up, but you should get your money back. If you used a debit card you may have some protection as well, it all depends on the bank. I recommend that if you are buying anything online pay with a cedit card. If your bank card has the option of paying either credit or debit always use the credit. You have more protection that way. Bought a camera lens a few months back, they used the old bait and switch on me. The lens was broke when I got it, they refused to ship the correct one without charging me more money and then wanted to charge me if I returned the whole thing for a refund. I sent it back with return receipt and then filed a complaint with my bank since I used my visa check card. One week later I was refunded the entire amount plus shipping to return the product. P.S. Why would you ever ship something without verification of delivery. For the headache you would get it is more than worth the cost.
  11. You install it between the battery and the TM. You do not have to cut into anything and void the warranty. Set your battery where you want it, cut 10-12 inches of wire for the positive terminal. Connect the wire to both the battery and the circuit breaker. Connect the remaining wire from the circuit breaker to the TM. Connect the negative wire directly from the battery to the TM. This site has a PDF for another brand of TM, but it has a diagram for the wiring on page 5 of 21. www.brunswickmarineemea.com/filereader/file/pdf/4/fifi/outboard/2007/2-tahtinen/10235021c.pdf
  12. I had one installed when I bought my boat for the purpose of deterring theft. I love it, it is easy to use and you can padlock the whole thing if you choose. It is more stable in my opinion that just mounting thee TM to the boat as well. Just my 2 cents.
  13. Not to laugh at you, but I can completely see my 15 y.o. daughter doing the same thing. At least she is a trooper and got out on the water with you. Now the two of you will have a story to share for the rest of your lives.
  14. Let me chime in here for a few. I bought a Canon Rebel XT two years ago for my office. I am a dentist by trade....wanted a camera for taking pictures of the mouth, but did not want to spend a fortune on the camera. I have friends who have purchsed more expensive cameras for the same purpose, but without the increase in results. Depending on what you want to do with the camera here are a few pointers..... 1) unless you are blowing the picture up beyond an 11" x 14" 8 megapixels is way more than you will need. I have several pictures this size for demos in the office and you cannot tell any downgrading of the image. 2) You wil probably need more lenses than what comes with the camera. So expect to include that into the overall price. 3) A nice photo editing software can help fix what you lack of shooting expderience gives you (to some degree...it will not fix everything). 4) Go for a name brand....stay way from the aftermarket crap....you get what you pay for. 5) It never hurts to check the internet for reviews 6) Buy the biggest memory card you can afford......they are cheap and more is better. 7) Digital zoom is a joke......gauge by what the optical zoom is much more than the digital. Just my 2 cents....I am sure there are more, but that is aall for now.
  15. They mean twisting the loop of wire together upon itself so that it cancels out (kind of like a bread tie, you wrap it around the bread plastic and then twist the ends together to make the loop). I have found the best way to twist the wire is to stick the ends in a cordless drill and gently give her some juice. This seems to make it tight and not break the line. Not sure how much you are going to lay for wire, but I ended up changing my wire from the kit out with some 14 gauge solid copper from my local hardware store. It lasts just as long, and I actually get a better signal (I am running enough to surround 4 acres). I also did not bury mine. I ran it tight to the ground and used landscape staples to keep it tight. I mow my lawn at no more than 3 inches and have never had a problem. Just my 2 cents.
  16. Probably interfering, but you have to look at it from his angle as well. Doesn't make it right, but he is one of those who probably assumes that since he was there first he can take his time and not rush. If he is not able to be reasonable and notice that he is holding you up from launching then chances are he would not be reasonable when you ask him to move it along. Not sure you would win either way.
  17. Glenn has pointed you in the right directions for something light and sweet. If you are looking for something to drink more for desert and have it super sweet then try an Ice Wine. There are many and they are insanely sweet to the tongue. I would adivse to stay away from anything red at this point. If she is not into drinking that much and has not really said she can take the acidity from red wine they please avoid. My wife is not a red wine drinker and will drink Riessling like it is going out of style. Best of luck and enjoy the honeymoon.
  18. Give this a look. It explains it pretty well. I used this for my new utility trailer I purchased. http://www.accessconnect.com/trailer_wiring_diagram.htm

Definitely unique. Would love to see some video of those in action. I bet they have a distinct movement. Keep at it.
  20. Had a similar experience as Branuss04. Ordered a rod/reel combo about 3 weeks ago. Got the rods via UPS within 4 days. Took another week and a half to get the reels. I guess the combo part only applies to the fact they sell them together, not ship them together. Not a terrible experience, but they definitely could let you know up front that they are shipping them via two different methods. Rods via fed ex/ups and then the reels via USPS. The worst part was that my rods came from Missouri (a 15 hour drive for me) and were here in 4 days and the reels came from Detroit (a 2 hours drive for me) and took 2 weeks to get here. Go figure.
  21. A couple of suggestions.........make sure you go with an internal frame backpack. I don't think they make many external frames anymore, but just be sure. They actually look like a backpack and have no external poles holding them in place. I would not go anything less than 3500 cu. in. Try them on if you can and go from there. Make sure you carry this thing for practice a couple of weeks before you bolt and get some good boots. They make the world of difference.
  22. Have you tried using a drummel with some of the attachments to remove the sprues? Or a belt sander? Just an idea.
  23. A lot of small businesses go this route for staffing reasons. If you look, 10-6 is an 8 hour day. Do this for 5 days and you have a 40 hour work week. Many people feel that if you are working more than this you either pay to hire an employee who may or may not care as much as the owner or pay someone overtime. Unfortunately it does not help you out any and I agree with your complaint.
  24. Slomoe, You might be in good shape then for a retreat. If those are really the prices you paid and have been quoted then you are in good shape. Your dental fees are extremely low for what we charge here in Michigan. Not that this is the state anyone wants to live in without jobs right now, but they are getting about $1000-1300 for a retreat here. So if you are giving $500 it is a steal. Crowns are running $800-1200 depending on the place. Consider yourself lucky.
  25. Slomoe, Here is my 2 cents on your situation. The first question I have is that "did your regular dentist do the root canal?" I suspect the answer to this is yes. If this is the case then this is how I would proceed. 1) $500 seems awful cheap for a retreat, this makes me think he/she is your regular dentist. 2) There are other procedures you can do besides retreating, but you will need to go to a specialist. 3) A properly sealed canal will not need a retreat, it makes no difference since the bone is where the infection is.....you must get into the bone to get rid of this. 4) If this is a specialist ask about an Apicoectomy. This is where they make a small window in the bone and remove the tip of the root and the surrounding bone to clear up the infection, does not mess with your crown and is relatively painless. You will have a few stitches, but nothing too major. My 2 cents......If I had done this root canal and it had failed that quickly my first thing to try is to get a strong antibiotic into the bone. If this does not work then I send to the specialist for either a retreat or an apico. The retreat will only work if something is not sealed correctly (and sometimes this just happens, nothing the doctor usually does on purpose or misses...some canals are just tough to fill). The apico is done if the canal looks sealed correctly and the root can be accessed and removed. I do not mind doing easy front teeth root canals, but in my hands the posterior teeth are better suited for specialists. Usually take less time and get better results. Now with that....not all specialists are created equal. 8-)
