  1. I picked it up on Ebay...its made by Poorboys baits...they're website says nothing about it.
  2. I'm at a loss on how this works. The instructions are clear, except where does the line tie on at? Guess ya gotta provide your own hooks? Can anyone make sense of this?
  3. I'm wanting to start throwing Trick Worms as I have heard they are dynamite...what's everyone's favorite color and most productive method of fishing them? Anyone put them on a C Rig with success?
  4. You catch a Bass on a crankbait or Frog, and it totally engulfs your bait...deep. Not exactly swallows the bait but the bait is in there so deep that it fills up the entire cavity. You can't get your fat ol fingers in there and its stuffed in there that you really can't see what your doing. How do you get the hook(s) out when there is zero wiggle room...anyone ever experience that? I've never had it happen but I'd like to know what to do for when the day comes.
  5. I think this season I'm gonna start throwing the C-Rig more often. I've become somewhat addicted after catching a few fish on it. Question I have is about the bite. Occasionally on the retrieve ill get the "tap-tap". What do you all do when you get that? Do you just stop and wait to see what happens next, do you swing on it, or just continue the retrieve? Wondering if that tap is maybe a curious Bluegill striking the sinker. On the fish I caught yesterday, I was dragging bottom, it felt like nothing...probably soft bottom, then suddenly it got "crunchy" like a bunch of chunk gravel. Then the line started pulling away slowly...wonder if I was in some chunk gravel or if maybe the crunchinesd was the fish chomping on the bait. There's one thing for sure that holds true...always be aware of the "feel"...if it suddenly starts to feel "different"...be suspicious...its likely a fish.
  6. Deep- that's exactly it...I had totally forgotten about those...thanks for playing guys...
  7. Just picked up some swimbaits, somewhat small in size and was wondering if anyone could tell me who makes them. The eyes are strange...its not an eye at all...its actually a rattle.Has 3 flared gills on each side. The hook comes out the back and there is a weed guard which is comprised of 2 wires.
  8. I've had a filet o fish from Mickey D's that had more flavor than that Walleye. No doubt in my mind Walleye is likely delicious, I haven't experienced it yet
  9. So I tried Walleye at a local restaurant recently. If that's how Walleye tastes...you can have it. ZERO flavor, even after I applied Salt and Lemon.Like I was chewing on air. The breading didn't even have flavor. Not even sure if it was actually Walleye. It was my first time trying it, I'm willing to try it again...just not from that place. $18 for tastless fish...no thanks.
  10. Under which circumstances should a T rigged plastic be pegged vs unpegged? The lake I fish has A LOT of Milfoil in the summer and I feel I might be passing up fish because I don't fish it, and am always choosing more ooen water.Would a pegged bait be more effective in moving through that jungle than an unpegged bait?
  11. Here's a tip on how to peg that weight.A lot of people like to use rubber bobber stoppers. What about those that don't have access to them locally and don't want to wait for them to come in on order...like myself. Get about a 10-12 inch piece of discarded braided line.Go anywhere on the main line of your T-Rig setup and with the discarded braid, tie it onto the mainline with a uni knot...the more wraps, the bigger the knot.Snug the knot down by hand. Do your best to leave 2 pieces of decent length tag ends. Now take 2 pair of needle nose pliers and open the jaws on each and use the jaws to wrap the tag ends around the jaws. Use plenty of "uuumph" pulling on the pliers in opposite directions to really cinch the knot down.Trim the tag ends and slide the "bobber stop knot" down to your sinker... Don't know how well it works"yet" but it might work in a pinch...I'm sure you can use any line material you have at your disposal and it will work... Anyone else already doing this?
  12. So I've been advised to attempt throwing a Colorado Bladed spinnerbait in Muddy water. I've gone through my Spinnerbaits and here's what I have. 1. Strike King Rattlin Midnight Special Red with a Gold hammered single Colorado blade. 2.Same as above in Black/Blue with a single Chrome hammered Colorado Blade 3.Same as #2 with a black #7 Colorado blade with a smooth finish. Now as far as fishing spinnerbaits is concerned, I've been taught that on clear sunny days, a chrome blade is best and on overcast days a gold blade is better...does this apply to muddy water as well? What's with the this red colored spinnerbait and the whole Minight Special (night application)
  13. Mother nature helped get me away from soft stickbaits. Its just always windy at the lake I fish and throwing a weightless stickbait is just tough. The wind catches the line and puts a big bow in it. Hard to keep the bait where you wsnt it snd difficult to detect a bite.Baby Brush hogs and Spinnerbaits started to become my go to...
  14. so right now I'm kinda really amped up on the Carolina rig. I threw it two weeks ago for the first time in 19 years, and I hooked up on one fish. This week I threw it as well as I got several bites, but no takers...my confidence is building on this technique so this is something im likely to throw this year. Once I feel I'm totally confident with the C rig Ill likely incorporate a popper into the mix. I really can't see a small popper pulling a 1 ounce weight off the bottom. However the popper might float vertically on the pause...suspendots or suspenstrips place accordingly might help...might have to do a small scale mock up in my aquarium.
  15. Well just to see if it would work you could try a small PopR...I'm bettin some large lizards and worms weigh as much, maybe more than that PopR. The PopR has a feathered tail and rattles which might aid in attraction.
  16. Was just reading the post about Hula Popper on a Dropshot...then a thought occured to me...what about a Hula Popper/Pop-r on a C-rig? How many of us have cast a popper and had the wind catch it and take it off target. What do you do? Bring it in quickly so you can recast. Watch that Popper under the surface...it wants to be on top, floating. The cupped face catches water and creates a drag which makes the bait move in an erratic, unpredictable manner. Put that on a C rig and drag it along...hmmm...I wonder...
  17. There's gotta be something to it...there are even Baby Bass patterned baits with an orange underside...
  18. I'm a bit curious about a specific color of bait I have had a decent day with. The bait is a Rapala DT 6 in the brown craw color, brown colr with an orange belly. While moving to another location, I let out s little line behind the boat and trolled this crank. I ended up hooking up with a decent Bass. In one area I was casting this bait that day, they were tearing it up.I've seen lots of companies thst make craw volored baits with orange bellies, both in hard and soft plastics(Yum Craw Papi and the Crawbug come to mind) I really believe the fish key in on the orange portion of the bait, and that's why my day was so successful. What is it about that orange underbelly on a craw? Does it really exist? I've never seen anything like it in my waters.I'm sold on the fact that the orange makes a difference why else would so many brown craw imitators have an orange belly?
  19. Def a Channel cat. Forked tail and a few spots on the body.Flathead have an underbite and are more of a mud color.Tail of a Flathead isn't forked.
  20. So should I even attempt to fish open water? With the water being as muddy as it is does line matter? Think I could get away with using braid and not worry about the fish being line shy?
  21. There's another pond locally that was this color a few summers ago. I threw a Rapala Xrap, worked it very quickly, sharp quick jerks. Had a few followers and landed a few that went 3#.I might try this on this muddy body of water.
  22. Yea to me it looks REALLY "BASSY"(if thats even a word) Lots of timber in the water, stumps, Beaver Dams...I'm drooling just thinking about it.There were some young adults there that say they caught some Catfish...that's promising...don't know that it matters but this pond is just beyond eyeshot of of a shallow, narrow river that flows North out of Mexico.
  23. So today I ventured out to look at a pond I used to fish as a youth.I caught Yellow Bullhead Catfish, Bluegill and an occasional Largemouth Bass. This was way before I really got into Bass Fishing. I was last at this body of water probably 8 years ago and I wasn't really into the whole Bass fishing thing. That last outing I accidentally hooked up with a Bass while I was tossing a Crappie jig. I also threw a Berkley Gulp Sinking Minnow. Didn't know then how to fish it, so I just let it soak. Had something pecking at it constantly. I'm much more educated about Bass fishing now, but I've never fished muddy water. Theres plenty of timber from the Beaver population and I'm sure there gotta be some Bass in there still. Based on what's in the pics, how would some of you seasoned fisherman attack this water...I'm unsure of the depth or bottom composition, and no boats...strictly fishing from the bank...
  24. Yea that whole Walmart thing got me too. I walked by and looked at what there was being offered the other day, nothing caught my eye. Of course I didnt have any $$$ on me at the time.I picked through the remaining soft plastics offered today and got 1 bag each size and color of the Mighty Bug, and the last Bag of Sallemanders they had.Bait Monkey just couldn't resist.
